Mass Effect 2. Somebody's getting shot and thrown out a window

just started playing finally (had to make a ME 1 playthrough…gd the PC version is glitchy as all get out). I’m not feeling the combat system just yet (likely because of the change in key mapping rather than an actual dislike of the combat system…though I think Vanguard got nerfed a little) and there are a few changes here and there that I find a little jarring. However I’m digging the story so far… question for the final mission is it a definte that a team member will die if you don’t do their loyalty mission? 'Cause I’m aching to tell Miranda where she can shove it…

It is part of it, but also various upgrades for the characters will affect the outcome too. I did all the loyalty missions, and still someone bit the dust towards the end.

Who you choose as party leaders determines who dies as well as loyalty.

Who’s scout?

Also I agree on Miranda she’s definitely one of the better characters in the game. Unfortunately biotics don’t work on armored enemies this time around so if you play on anything above normal Jack starts to suck. Warp ammo is nice, but it’s not like you need her around to use it. Samara is still a bit useful since she at least has Reave. Miranda on the other hand is always useful. Give her Area Warp/Overload and she’s good for any situation. She’s also got the Cerberus leader skill which boosts everyone’s attack and health at level 4. Modin is also pretty damned good when you beef up incinerate. Also ice+husk = insta kill. If I didn’t pick Engineer he’d have been even more useful here.

No, no, no. I keep saying this. Those upgrades do not count towards loyalty. The only factors invovled in who dies is the normandy upgrades, squad members choosen for the roles, and their loyalty.

Grunt sorry.

Loyalty isnt really required to keep everybody alive but if youre assigning that particular person for the important task at the end, then theyre required to have loyalty. Also you have to choose the right person for the job. I kept everybody alive at the end and i didnt even have loyalty with Jack. Make sure to upgrade your ship btw, really important.

just beat the game

dammit

Spoiler

i had mordin get headshotted and died on me… only party member i lost, thank god he was useless

Does anyone know who can use the fake ID you find in The Citadel.

Once you finish… is it Garrus’ or Thanes loyalty mission? I think you have to leave citadel and go back in, there are two asari who sit on a couch at the top of the stairs down to bottom level (area outside the shop with the rations)
You can either give them the fake id or go about it another way

talk to the two Asari sitting down near the C-Sec area, right after you run through the security tunnel make a left to a lounge looking area and you should see the Asari there (forgot which Ward is it). Give her the fake id for renegade pts, talk to the C-Sec security lady for paragon.

The escort team isn’t exclusive to just the one squad member.
I’ve had multiple reports from reliable sources that Mordin Solus is also an excellent choice. The man was fucking STG. His influence stopped the krogan, but before that, he held the line![/details]

Nothing like playing ME2 all day.
Just got Grunt and I’ve been probing in the Omega sector. Probing is very tedious and time consuming.

And what happened to the jumblefuck of Miniquests? Does ME2 not have that? Like Odin said it just seems like "Step 1: Get your Crew. Step 2:… Step 3: Beat the game (PROFIT!)

On a lighter note though. The fact you can buy a fucking space hamster is awesome. My blue fishies died though. :frowning:

SH - Speak to Miranda about getting the normandy scanner upgraded so its faster

On the PC version at least, on my subsequent playthroughs i only scanned Rich planets, hold down right click and spin the mouse really quickly sideways (you can also hold down one of the directional buttons, very minor minor speed increase though) - if you get a spike, go back to it and probe it

I like to do this along the horizontal grid lines, then move down to the next one, rich planets ensures lots of high resource nodes, and you can deplete the planet in a few minutes at most

Each “city” planet has a couple of sidequests to do separate to the recruitment missions and their little additionals, some occur as part of loyalty missions, and theres about 10-15 “Scanning” missions that you get from scanning a planet or emails or w/e
Compared to ME1 yeh its lacking in the sidequest department, but still a fair few to do

Hmm… I was a little horrified when I saw the scanner crap. I do love the NPCs that made it back to the Citadel… when I saw Refund Guy (I guess he is Exchange Guy now…though his voice is different) I could not stop laughing for about 10 minutes. My favorite little ME nod is the Normandy Crash… nice touch Bioware. All I can say is good job Prestly… sorry to see you go.
Probing was tedious for me at first, but I found near end game I got all of the ship upgrades apart from the Medical Bay in under 40 minutes. Only hit up the rich planets, and just keep hitting that scan button quickly instead of holding it. It helps you cover a bigger distance in much quicker time and as soon as you see it spike a bit just head back to where you were and find the specific point where the spike is biggest. Remember to buy some fuel and travel outside of the relay zones. I’ve found more rich planets the further away I got from them.

Kelly promised to feed my fish. Bitch lied.

The what?

Anyone have a clue as to what the large decisions were in ME2 that may have an impact in 3? I now know about the rachni in 1 and I am very curious about the geth situation.

This game is only barely a week old and I see fallout new vegas is slated for fall 2010…wow. Between the DLC for this game, DA expansion, and a new fall out i’ll be rpg tapped. No ff this year it seems.

How’s this throw infinite done?

hmmm

Spoiler

im guessing killing geth/brainwashing geth, keeping/not keeping reaper technology, which party members made it out and which ones didnt, it you helped liara with shadow broker, amongst other things im sure. should be great
