I had to keep reminding myself that the Shift key isn’t used to run anymore. I’m getting used to the default controls now.
I tried a 2nd playthrough on Insanity with Vanguard… Charge is so useless lmao.
Fuck charge unless you freeze them. You only need that ground bomb shit with Vanguard and Jack.
Incendiary ammo > armor. Cryo too, sort of.
@loldotcom, talk to the crew, one of the left side options opens up a chat tree about Normandy upgrades.
That’s cause they have a grenade launcher now, I vastly prefer the launcher.
Actually it’s intuitive for me. First time playing ME on PC and I like it a lot.
not a fan of the xp system
would prefer to get xp from killing things and succeeding in hacks etc
not just completing missions
its like they were lazy to figure out how much xp should be given per kill/success so they just said fuck it, give em xp per mission
xp depends on what you kill during missions right?
i think its just set xp for beating a mission
you could probably not kill anything and get the same amount
Still trying different classes to see what would be best for Insanity (except Sentinel since I completed the game with him and it’s the best class imo). I thought Adept’s singularity would be useful but it’s not bleh.
Are shredder and tungsten rounds still the only good bullets in Mass Effect 2?
bullets have completely changed dude
they are skills now, not items you find
with that being said, i dont think they have shredder or tungsten
Played for a few hours and the game is awesome! Too bad that if you don’t have an import save there are few important choices from ME 1will be forced…
Little rant: What’s up with the fuel system & Scanning planets manually for resources?
Armor-Piercing/Tungsten Rounds is Garrus’s unique skill.
I saved her too.
Like akuma31, this is also my first time playing mass effect on PC and i actually like the controls too. Bioware did a great job making the game PC friendly. That said, here are my thoughts on the game (I’m playing this first run as a paragon vanguard. 2 more people left to recruit. and i’ve been doing almost everything including side missions):
- as mentioned already, charge ability is useless unless i’m using it wrong. it’s a death wish. definitely don’t use it at the start of a fire fight because all the enemies will target you immediately. and don’t use it without some sort of aoe skill to disable your enemies.
- shotgun damage is great but what kills the weapon class is the low ammo capacity and the constant reloading. been using the upgraded SMG mostly and just recently picked up the assault rifle from a certain mandatory mission. SMGs tear through health/armor/shields fairly fast for me using burst fire. decent accuracy at mid range and no worries about ammo.
- at first i was using a team of grunt (assault rifle) and jack (pistol or shotgun) but recently switched to mordin (SMG) and miranda (SMG). 3x SMG with shepard’s wide range shockwave, mordin’s aoe heavy incinerate, and miranda’s overload/warp/slam abilities work pretty well.
my next playthrough will be on insanity. let us know what you find out about the other classes sacr3d. i just might have to play as sentinel to see if it’s all that.
I’m really enjoying the PC version except the fact that you have to force AA through your video cards settings, wish it was included in the in-game graphic settings. And I have to agree and say the new XP system feels lazy as hell on Biowares part. The low ammo capacity on the good guns also fucking sucks, having to shoot shoot shoot, cover, reload repeat makes the combat feel really sluggish. I was so much more mobile with my Infiltrator in the first game. :bluu:
Anyone else start on a higher difficulty than Normal? I’m getting raped on Hardcore.
Bump.
Sucks to hear charge sucks =/.
Too early to start classes discussion?
Any opinions on best to worst classes, with their respective strengths and weaknesses?
I’m just rolling soldier right now on veteran. Only level 9 so far.
I agree sniper rifles are pretty good. I usually need someone with overload to take out enemy shields first before I can start dealing some respectable damage.
I think you have to use the Charge skill for setups. It’s not meant to be used on its own. For example, a teammate can freeze an enemy, then you charge and shatter hiim. Or, you can use it to get up in someone’s face and blast him with the shotgun. Just gotta experiment with it. I wonder what would happen if I tried using Pull on a target, then hitting him with Charge.
Got my copy from Gamefly. I’m sending it back. I hate every single combat change that was made. It is a shame because I like the story but, This game makes me feel worse than Resistance 2 did. It was like Bioware looked at a list of popular action game traits, and tacked dialog trees onto them.
I can usually find a positive in anything, but I spent three hours dragging myself through the combat trying to talk myself into liking this shit.
