In ME1, I am sitting at LVL 57 right after Virmire. I know there is a perk for importing a 50 save, bu what about 60?
I want to know is it worth getting the 60, or do I just finish the game, probably be 58-59 after Ilos and Citadel.
Damn, I was on my evil playthrough, but I kinda wanted to spare the rachni. But I have another Shep for that. So. FUCKING. HYPE.
And people that have it, what can you change about your character? I want to change names. The first time I played, I had no intention of liking it, so I borrowed it from work (Gamestop at the time) and at the END of the 4 days, I FINALLY played it. Named my girl Bitch. That’s right. Bitch Shepard. Just I didn’t intend to play it, believing it was overhyped garbage. Can’t believe how things changed from that day. I played nothing but this game for a good part of 2 years.
All four of my previous characters (even the Paragon/good ones) I could never bring myself to spare the Rachni. You know those things are evil. I almost didn’t with this final playthrough with my fifth character, but I want to see how it plays out differently if you spare them.
I wouldn’t say the combat is harder, but the opposite.
Your shields AND health regenerate now, and quite quickly I might add. Though this time, characters have less powers at their disposal, so picking ones without overlapping abilities is very important. Sucks that you may end up not being able to use certain combos, or you’ll make the game a lot harder on yourself than you have to if you do.
Still, the combat seems a bit more combat-y, and less RPG-y, but somehow slightly easier.
I see nothing wrong with sparing the Rachni. The queen knows what her kind did wrong and if you go to the Benezia fight before incinerating the hot labs the queen tells you to do it anyway.
Then you have a bunch of Rachni to start up the species again. Their race can stay dead, though they may prove some benefit to ME2, they’re existence in the long run won’t make the galaxy a better place. I usually kill the queen each time, insect alien races always spell trouble.
yeah i always spared the Rachni during my playthroughs. It just seemed liked the right thing to do. I know this is gonna come back and fuck my shit up tho
Anyone who’s getting this for PC and is using an Nvidia 9 series card with latest drivers (196.21) if you can report if ME2 runs without freezing/crashing. I’d like to know before getting the game.
I went back to ME1 to finish a second character play through before ME2 drops but the game randomly freezes after a few minutes, even at low settings. I’m pretty sure the game’s conflicting with the graphics drivers since the last time I played ME was about a year and a half ago and it never froze but I had an older driver installed then, 182 or something. I don’t really want to rollback as that’ll compromise the other games I have installed.
DA: Origins runs fine at 1920x1080 so ME1 being an older game and freezing is pretty frustrating.
ME2 should fare better compatibility wise as it’s actually being done in-house by Bioware instead of Dmeiurge. However I don’t have a 9 series videocard so I can’t test it.
Bout 14 hours in. My Shepard is dicking and punching everyone in sight. Fantastic game. But why oh why the changes to the weapon and armor sections… Still, in the grand scheme of things that is still a minor problem.
Geez, I don’t know, even though there is only four days left, it’s like every day from today to the 26th feel like they last 72 hours…I just can’t wait anymore. IGN has a review up(yeah yeah, who cares about reviews), very positive.
Btw, the Rachni do have a small part in the game, I just haven’t got much more than a small nod from the game about them.
Maybe more happens later?
10 hours in, and I agree with the above person that the item/armor/guns change is silly and was done merely to simplify the game. Now basically you just get a shotgun, and then a shotgun+1, and so on. Also, they’re basically available to any crewmember that can use weapon type XYZ, so as soon as you find a new pistol/shotgun/sniper, you can have multiple people use it at the same time. You don’t really collect weapons or armor either, you just spend resources adding bonuses to their damage or bonuses to your biotics damage.
All in all, the dialogue-y directed gameplay is just as fun, and the combat was made a bit more simple. The story so far is… meh. It’s so far worth playing because it’ll be important to the third game’s story, but I hope it doesn’t receive higher scores than the first.
That’s fine by me. I don’t need to collect a huge pile of useless shit that’s just going straight to the vendor after every battle. That needed to be trimmed down.
I agree that it got a bit silly with the mass pile of junk you collected throughout the game, but now it’s basically cut down to shotgun #1, then you find a new shotgun #2, and you just use that one instead. They don’t really tell you the stats for the new one, just that it’s better, has a cooler sounding name, and it’s defaulted on your character. You can choose to use the other gun, but it isn’t as good. It just takes more RPG out of the game.
The story also feels a lot slower than ME1, which says quite a bit. So far, in 12 hours, I’ve spent 85% of the time “recruiting” new party members, which is most of the plot so far. As well, you have to do a unique mission for each character to “gain their loyalty”, which feels really forced and systematic. Would be nice if they had a KOTOR2 type system where party members gained favor with you during conversations, and when you included them in on mission runs. Also, and this is a fault of many games, the scenes where you meet most of your new party members make them all seem like total badasses. But, of course, when they’re in your party, they’re just like any other party member
Are you using an imported Shepard or a new one? Just wondering about the rumors that they have different start points… which may or may not confirm some speculation I have of the game plot. Also what video card are you using? I’m guessing that you are playing on pc unless they moved up the street date…or I’ve lost track of time…
I imported a game save, but I don’t think it starts in a different spot at all if you don’t. There may be a bit less dialogue at certain points early on, but the game should still act as if Shepard is a Uber hero, just without some of the exact details of your own personal exploits.
