How so? Like if hugo meat squashers and THEN balrog does a rush punch? or on reaction? (this is meat squasher we’re talking about).

Are there any option selects around this mechanic?

I wouldn’t really say there are option selects around this mechanic, but since you block the fireball kind of late as a meaty, the opponent will most likely have enough room to do something while you’re in blockstun (in similar fashion when a character throws out a meaty fireball on your wakeup).

A work-around for this, is to cancel your landing frames into a special or focus attack. It’s not easy to do but it will look something like this:

Yeah I was wondering if there was a safe way to automatically get a focus attack out without risk of being hit.

Having a tough time comprehending this.

What is the timing for the inputs, your doing 2 360s, focus, then ppp ?

Yeh just did it, it’s as you see in the video, buffer 720 on wakeup, reversal focus attack and then PPP. This makes total sense, i’m kind of unhappy i didn’t figure that out a long time ago. :<
Edit: this may be an input priority bug specific to Hugo.

Not sure if anyone mentioned this before but if you hit your Super in the corner and you don’t cancel into BB but instead wait until you’re recovered and then do L.BB you actually do 60 damage more.

Reset with cr.lp? I couldn’t get it to work. I think the Juggle potential is the same after a airborne clap.

The only possible follow-ups to super are LK BB, the follow-up BB, or U2.

Yes to both. The only way Balrog wins vs. the former is if he uses a light rush, since that comes out sooner. Even then, with the right spacing, not even light rush can win.

Balrog’s super/U1 still works since he’s already punching after activation.

Speaking of which, If you have no meter and can’t eat U1’s chip, try using cr.HK.
It usually beats it clean.

Well it didn’t work. :frowning: I thought I could Ultra Throw > LP clap > Super > Ultra or LK BB. But I can’t seem to get the Ultra or BB to come out fast enough.

U2 is character specific, but works.

Ultra should work.
But LP clap>Super>LK BB doesn’t work because Super counts as a clap. And you can’t do FA>HP clap>LP clap>LK BB as well.

Airborne-hitting super raises JC once per hit most likely, so you can’t juggle with BB even if you only land the last two hits as an AA.

Just did this combo in the lab:

HP Clap > MP Clap > RFA > HP Clap > EX Clap > U2

562 dmg, 430 stun, full super bar required.

Sadly, you can’t RFA from LP Clap.
