All this tech and not one mention of ultra 1. I don’t suppose anyone has tried finding any half reliable ways to land it. I’d like to try and start using it a bit, so I thought I’d check here if anyone’s figured out anything with it before I get in the lab myself

U1 is amazing.

It’s actually not that impossible to do it standing either. So far I’ve gotten the best utility off it with punishes(on block) and through resets, mostly clap related.

Yup, thxs to the extra pre-jump frames that Hugo has its easier to do stand U1 then anyother grappler.

I’ve mostly gotten it thru dashing up and thru MP clap setup so the MP clap wiffs and then U1 catches them if they stood there, gotten it to wrk mostly off the clap setup but i like U2 better cuz i can OS backdashes and DPs and even catch ppl that jump back from a pretty far range

I tried W ultra but man its too much scaling for me, i mean yea it makes sense to scale the Ultras more cuz they cover all options but nah ill take the full dmg instead

Put this in the match-up thread but it’s probably better to put it here.

Some OS stuff I was testing, I could be really off on all these but they’re ideas.
Note these could vary because a lot of them I tested with Cr.Mk dash Meaty Clap which changes depending on where/when the Cr.mk hits I believe.

-Beats Wake up Messiah/Snake strike (because some do it because damage)
-OS doesn’t activate against EX snake strike but you can block it

Lariat, Empty Jump DD+Mk OS Ex BB
-Beats Ex Messiah, Snake strike/Ex SS
-Regular SS gets hit out of the Air. Ex Gets BB
-Safe meaty

Rose: Meaty Clap OS Ex SPD
-Beats Ex Spirals (you can also just do meaty claps and block if you don’t want to try and risk a backdash)
-ONE time I had Ex Spd punish backdash but that was a fluke

Sakura: Meaty Clap OS Ex BB
-Beats Ex Srk (one time had him fly over her)
-Safe meaty

Deejay: Meaty Clap OS U2
-only putting this in because it beats EX rolling sobat lol

Bison: Meaty Clap OS Ex BB
-This one is really weird because depending on when you input the OS or the spacing you can beat/trade/whiff BB against EX Psycho Crusher
-Beats Ex Devils Reverse
-Can lose or trade with Ex Head Press
-Might not be worth it with all of Bison’s reversal options and just Meaty, block and react.

Lariat, Empty Jump DD+Mk
-Safe meaty
-If you don’t block Ex PC then you should beat it.

Balrog: Meaty Clap OS Ex BB
-Beats Ex Headbutt
-Safe Meaty
-Ex Armor moves will beat any meaty attempt

Honda: Meaty Clap OS Ex BB
-Beats Ex Headbutt, Ex Ochio, Ex Buttslam
-Safe Meaty

Cody: Lariat, Empty Jump DD+Mk
-Trades with Ex Criminal
-Passes through Zonk to give free punish and if it doesn’t it’s safe
-Gets hit by U2 but falls out for a punish

Experimental and needs tons of testing for this set-up because I got WAY too many different outcomes; Abel- Meaty Hp Clap OS UT (had VARYING degrees of catching or not catching rolls/backdashes)[/details]

Any tips on how to time the claps (ether of them) after spd? the recovery is so weird.
Do you just try to mash it?

After spd wait a lil then do the claps, i would suggest goibg into training mode do i know the timing cuz yea it is weird if u are having alot of trouble timing it.

As for abel, i found that EX spd catches his EX roll, i didn’t know it worked but i have done it alot in matches ve abel and it has worked for me but i wana test. Also, im gunna test on who Meaty Clap>OS U2 wrks on cuz in match i tried it and it wiffed on Juri, Poison, and Decapre

Abels rolls are all throwable. EX just gains strike invulnerability.

As for Clap OS U2, I want to say that theoretically you can catch just about everyone, but from some ranges or if you don’t time the OS perfectly it can whiff.
This can be a bit tricky since the window to input the OS is so huge because Clap has crazy amounts of hitstun, but within that window you have to do it as soon as possible to catch some backdashes at some ranges.

He did the HP Clap combo after focus LV3…
Also it’s works after CH focus Attack LV2 …

Anything -24 or more on block you can HP Clap.

So that includes most MP/HP Shoryu-type attacks, though some are only punishable on whiff. You can just check the frame data if you’re not sure.

If your inputs are good enough, once you have them scared of MP Clap Whiff SPD oki, you can go for HP Clap OS EX BB/U2 followed up by MP Clap.
It’s a bit hard to get the timing down, but it covers a pretty good range of options. You get HP MP LP Clap Combo if they try to jump to dodge a potential MP Clap Whiff SPD, OS BB/U2 if they try to backdash, and while it’s not a tight pressure string by any means, HP Clap on block usually puts you at a range where they probably won’t poke you out of MP Clap.

I ddn’t test in all characters, but every character I messed around in trainning mode I was able to hit focus level 3 or red focus, dash and combo into HP Clap without making them go into the air.
So I’d say that it works on everyone but it might be tight to time it.

doing a bit of testing, and found some information and some set ups.

l.lariat i have pegged at around 70 frames of KD. also not every character wakes up the same speed against it. i think this is specific to lariat cause i tested safe jumps i know with other characters and they work fine.
frames +(slower)/-(faster) KD.
chun, seth, decapre, elena, poison, rolento: -3
deejay: -2
dudley, ibuki: -1
guile +1
gouken: +2

there could be more but those are the ones i tested. now for set ups.

meaty/fake meaty-
l.lariat, f.dash x2, h.clap (first frame meaty) / l.lariat f.dash x 2 m.clap (fake)
notes- fake clap is at least -4 vs most the cast and used to bait 5f+ reversals. the list up top shows who’s added and who’s excluded.
-reversals 10f or slower you can just go for meaty cause you’re safe anyways (bison, rufus, rose, cody, etc.)
-fake version hits last frame meaty on the -3 characters

safe jumps-
(anti 4f) c.mk, slight walk, j.rh:
i saw this was listed already but there’s a way to get it pretty consistently. after c.mk hold forward and as soon as hugo’s foot moves forward, j.rh.

(anti 7f) l.lariat, f.dash, c.lp, leap attack:
notes-works on: viper, e.honda, rose, gen, sakura, bison, rufus, cody
-gouken, adon, t.hawk, hugo: whiffs (GG capcom) but is safe against their reversals excluding SPD.
-whiffs against other characters too but they’re not important for this.

  • +10 on block, +13 on hit.

(anti 7f + character specific) l.lariat, whiff throw, j.splash:
works on: sagat, viper, adon, gouken, cody, juri*, bison, hugo*, rose*, gen*, e.honda, rufus
notes- juri’s ex pinwheel whiffs completely lol, whiffs hugo but is safe vs ex back breaker, rose can’t ex spiral but she can ex soul throw, gen can punch U1 and LK super but not up kicks.

(anti 10f + cross up) l.lariat, s.mp, j.splash:
notes- some characters can dash out or wake up normal AA (bison s.rh, sakura c.hp). characters with 8f reversals have to 1f auto correct, 9f reversals count as 10f cause of the 1f of turn around. 7f and slower can easily auto correct.

(anti 10f + same side) l.lariat, c.mp, j.lk/j.rh:
notes- some characters can dash out or auto correct reversal.

Rolento OS: Meaty HP Clap OS DD+Mk
It beats EX Mekon Delta Air Raid (Qcb+Punches~Punch) or at worse it hits you out of the air so he can’t get a full combo.
CAN punish backdash but really spacing dependent but since rolento’s backdash is so bad he can’t hit a button or anything without getting hit.
Ex Mekon Delta Escape (Qcb+Kicks) goes so far that it lets you recover in time and punish with EX BB.
Punishes Mekon Delta Attack (the back flip he does)

One major thing about this OS is that if he does Ex back roll and doesn’t opt to do the overhead smack then it won’t put you in a position to be punished. Going to experiment more with HP Clap OS DD+Mk to see who it’d be good against.

This certain os is just funny and I figured I’d put it out there as I’ve been experimenting with it more to see what I can do with it. Not really that great but hey.
Meaty Clap OS LK Lariat
-Can Beat/Trades with Ex MKDAR and can combo into BB/U2 for tons of damage
-Catches Backdash
-Recovers in time to catch Ex MDE

Also, did u use MP clap>LP clap>Super or LP clap>LP clap>Super?

Aw, somebody already posted a video of Megathrow > Clap xx Super > U2, I’ll post mine anyway because it shows just how insane the range is, and I bet you can go a quarter of a training tile further out than I did.

Hmm, it seems that when u do super off the UT>Clap>Super it works on other characters. Cuz the list i made on characters super>U2 works on, work in the corner and when u do the super midscreen.

Gunna do testing to see wat others characters this U2 combo works on

Is there any reason not to use the lp clap to be even safer? (probably easier to see)

When you juggle the Super, U2 catches basically everyone.

Ok here are my reaults. On some characters u can do this combo closer to the corner(which results in the super ending with the opponent in the corner) and still works. I have marked those characters with a " * " so u guys know that U2 connects with the combo starting midscreen and near the corner.
