I’ll reserve final judgement for when i see iron fist, but the trailers are absolutely terrible. I don’t like the iron fist actor literally right off the bat. Can’t put my finger on why, he just seems weak/stereotypically bad. The Asian chick couldn’t act in her fight scene, don’t know if it’s her acting or the directing or writing or cheorography or all of the above… I just get a legend of Chun li feel from that fight scene.
And I loved the chicks in crouching tiger hidden dragon… but what I’ve seen so far pales in comparison.
Hopefully the iron fist character is more developed than what we see on the trailer. It would be a tragedy to follow up the awesomeness of Luke cage with a terrible iron fist.
-edit
I mean it wouldn’t be so bad if the IF actor looked like a bad ass, but he looks the type of dude to sit outside a cafe with his hipster/sjw laptop eating yogurt and muesli.
It’s liking going back to emo Spider-Man/tobey maguire and giving him iron fists… just looks really ridiculous in the context that was shown.
Finn Jones just too bitch made to be believable. In all the preview stuff and the interviews I knew I just couldnt get behind this guy. Was gunna give it a chance considering how wrong I got it with Jon Bernthal cast as Punisher but naw, IF gunna be LC tier garbage.
I will attempt to binge this when it drops. Critics only have the first 6 episodes, and even if a show is bad, I can suffer at least 7. But the things I’m hearing in these reviews outside all the SJW bullshit really are sounding like Scott Buck’s cloud of fuckery coming to rain on things. I speak as a Dexter* survivor here: if these criticisms are valid, things will only get worse for the remaining episodes.
*Buck was around for seasons 1-5, but show-ran Dexter for seasons 6-8. Season 6 was shit. Season 7 was decent, but season 8 was probably one of the worst final seasons for a show ever.
Spoiler
Quite a few of the reviews touch on some main points have me worried.
-They focus too much on Danny Rand trying to get control of the company back. Focusing on plotlines that aren’t interesting hurt Dexter a lot (especially in Season 8). Rand vying for company control isn’t unimportant, but do we really care about it that much in a series that’s supposed to have a bunch of cool Kung-Fu fighting stuff and Rand fighting the Hand?
-The fight scenes, when they DO come, are badly edited and choreographed. Just look up Harrison on the treadmill from Dexter Season 8. Scott Buck is no stranger to bad stunt work.
-Uninteresting characters and uneven pacing. Yup. Same with Dexter in its later years. There was almost nothing interesting going on with the side characters in Dexter. And if some interesting shit DID happen, it was often either not followed up upon or stopped cold. However, here it seems worse, as the main character and plot seem to be hit with the snore labels too.
There’s other stuff I’m forgetting, but this is off the top of my head. Like I said before, we’ll decide for ourselves if these criticisms are valid. But if the first six eps are as bad as people are saying, things will not get better for the remaining ones.
Directorially we might be in the same place but i’d have a lot more faith in the combat and we wouldn’t be hearing rumours about how lazy the lead is.
You may as well say what you got to say.
