Marvel's Netflix Universe: Return of the Kingpin

I still don’t get why they went with the name “Nobu” instead of the name of the guy he’s pretty much based on, Kirigi the Undying.

The character was probably named after the Hand’s founder Kagenobu Yoshioka

this. si senor.

same reason people don’t always say Ra’s Al Ghul, the Demon’s Head

He’s a soldier. A supremely trained one fully Aware of surroundings and people. He knew matt was daredevil because matt doesn’t batman himself, and upon meeting in the hospital knew it.

Jeez dd was super catholic in here compared to season 1 where he was kind of cynical. Here, he was full blast roman-catholic.

I found it lame that DD only talked with his priest once in season two. Those talks were some my favorite parts of season one.

i did not remember dd being such a stickler for the no-kill. i remember him not liking punisher killing kids. but then i went back and read and yeah dd goody goody af

and it was the same conversation from season 1.

I just finished S2. So good.

I dont know much of the characters comic history, but I enjoyed it all the same.

Before I watched, I expected Elektra to be portrayed as a more sympathetic character and Punisher to be the nutjob.
But after, I feel the opposite.

Im glad we got to see[details=Spoiler] Wilson Fisk[/details] from S1

Even though she transitioned to the journalist job a bit quick, I liked that Karen was the one most worried about Punisher as a person and was the driving force in trying to help him.

I wished there were 1/2 more scenes with the priest, which were cool in S1.
Also, Its a little too dark in some shots. Whats the use of having great action /choreography if you have to squint to see it?

Grade 9/10

Daredevil definitely walks a line, but as Deadpool says in MPQ, he’s a “goody two shoes”. Originally he was really good, then enter Frank Miller(surprise!) and things became a little more murky. He did turn into “Dark Daredevil” for a little while, not sure what that means but I honestly just wonder if he had 3 Ds on his chest then lol…

Marvel killing it with the casting once again

I kind of wish they put Misty in IF and Colleen in Cage.

Night Nurse Rosario is in Cage as well.

I’m sure it’s not, but its feeling like a case of “let’s put the brown ones together”.

The problem is they flanderized Matt’s Catholic guilt so he feels like he’s responsible for everything that happens in Hell’s Kitchen.

For what he is, he does have a pretty big narcissist streak where he thinks that stuff will all go to shit if not for him.

Just finished watching it, it was one hell of a ride this time. The pace was high-strung throughout, what a rush.

Surprised to see people hating on Foggy though, with all the shit Matt pulled on him he was always by his side nonetheless, having a friend like that is a blessing really.

Random thoughts:

Spoiler

-Last episode, when Matt goes to meet Karen, the door opposite to their office says Alias Investigations right? That’s pretty damn close.

  • The “Micro” CD Punisher retrieved from his house…???
  • Punisher also seemed too surprised at finding the arsenal in the “Blacksmith”'s shack. Maybe that suggested him the real thing is still out there, or something else?
  • In the end, except Nobu’s death The Hand didn’t lose anything from the whole fight…rather, they got their hands on what they were seeking too.

On a side note, it was kind of interesting that none of the Hand members (the ones with spoken lines at least) were actual Japanese actors…I guess that finding any with martial training too is too hard?

micro = microchip

Finally finished the season, pretty decent all in all.

The PuniShaner defined the season. He was simply a force of nature. It was satisfying seeing him go to work and mercilessly slaughter every POS he came across. Full measure style.

The fight scene he had in the prison block was my favorite fight this season. Just visceral do-or-die shit. Eye gouging, shanking, the whole nine yards. Reminded me of Old Boy. He needs his own series.

Foggy being justified with his angst didn’t make it less annoying to hear him whine and pontificate all the damn time. I’m sorry, but the writers should’ve realized that insufferable bitchin’ wouldn’t make for compelling drama in an action comic series. It would’ve been tolerable if it was just once in a while (and Matt didn’t enable him), but having plowed through this season it felt like every episode there were at least 2 Foggy whinefests. By episode 6 I thought to myself, “OK, I just don’t care anymore, I just want to see Daredevil do his thing.”

Karen somehow finding herself at the center of everything was a but too much. Her not allowing Matt to explain himself after seeing not just Elektra, but old man Stick in his room and coming to the conclusion that she was being cheated on was just dumb.

I also hated her, " I can take care of myself" attitude, as if bullets can’t find her. She acted high and mighty to everyone looking out for her, esp. considering she put herself in mortal danger multiple times over the past 2 seasons.

Elektra had shades of Alice Morgan, albeit less intelligent and more homicidal. It was kind of funny seeing her little kid self beat grown men, which was the clue that she was Black Sky.

I also figured out that the Blacksmith had a military background at the last second because Madame Gao mentioned pure heroin which made me think of Afghanistan. It was still quite a surprise that it was the same guy who testified on Castle’s behalf though.

Speaking of which, I did like seeing the legal practice side of things. This season did a good job of exploring their professional skills.

The damage sustained between Frank Castle and Matt Murdock was brutal. These guys were bloodied and bruised all season. Realistically, their aggregated injuries would’ve been lethal without proper medical care. Healing factor is an underrated ability. Lol.

he has his own series

foggy was necessary to show how poorly the hero is balancing his life, this is nothing new. Peter Parker disappoints once again. The fact that u just want to see daredevil means you want a traditional show, whereas this is shows alot of what goes on behind the superhero’s costume.

That Karen scene was weird. But Matt wasn’t doing himself any favors by not telling her the big secret until end of season. IMO Stick said something to her(he’s a manipulator) in order to get her out of his life and semi-convince him to join his side full-time.

Actually, Karen was upset with Matt, who she assumed was cheating on her. Considering a woman was in Matt’s bed, that’s pretty reasonable. Plus I’m sure she’s frustrated about Matt’s second life (which she assumes is drinking) that he won’t open up to her about even though there’s more than friendship between the two. But as far as not accepting anybody’s help, she got help from Punisher himself. That’s pretty reasonable considering a) Matt’s blind b) Foggy can’t fight and c) the Police can’t seem to do anything.

I didn’t just want a “traditional show” and I’ve already expressed my appreciation for the legal side this season, but due to this, the show was juggling 3 plot points at the same time by mid-season. Like I said, Foggy’s disapproval was justified, but I felt they (the writers) were beating a dead horse after a while.

If this wasn’t the case so many viewers wouldn’t have been annoyed by Foggy this season, even if some were more knee-jerk and neglected to acknowledge Matt’s behavior, the accumulated effect was still palpable.

[details=Spoiler]The door said “Atlas Investments” not “Alias Investigations”.
