Marvel's Netflix Universe: Return of the Kingpin

The only thing beating a dead horse about it was that Foggy should’ve kicked Matt’s ass to the curb sooner, but doing that mid-trial would’ve been an even bigger disaster so he was forced to put up with it.

i swear they were done filming

Really great season overall. John Bernthal nailed it and the returning villains were well handled.

I know they’re meant to keep him grounded, but I find Foggy and Karen a little grating. Maybe it’s Foggy’s stupid haircut, but they were both bordering on insufferable and really took me out of the series near the end.

He also has a really punchable face.

Then I guess he needs to learn how to Duck Strong.

I mean foggy aint’ supposed to look like fucking fabio.

After finally streaming S2, I found it damn near impossible to put up with Foggy. I get that he’s frustrated with Murdock (as he has somewhat of a right to be), but given that the Hand were out running amok in Hell’s Kitchen, I think that’s way more important than some little trial. Besides, Foggy lucked into a better law gig at the end of the season.

It also stands to reason that when you’re friends with a superpowered vigilante, said vigilante would likely keep some secrets from you for two good reasons:

  1. To keep loved ones safe
  2. Because Daredevil’s activities were really none of Foggy’s business to begin with. If he felt so betrayed and lied to by Matt, then he should’ve walked before Matt made the decision for him towards the end of the season. Damn, and I thought Mary Jane whined like a lovesick puppy over Parker (and Spidey’s my homie). I have no sympathy for Foggy in that regard.

So hype for season 3, hoping for Bullseye and hopefully Nuke along with the return of Fisk (and probably Elektra).

people keep saying they annoyed of foggy, but he did Daredevil a big solid early on in the season. Andddd because Daredevil had no allies it was his business. And it wasn’t a little trial. Even as the trial failed, as you say, it gave foggy the opportunity to move up in the world, unlike all of season 1’s trials.

But I’m tired of arguing about it, Foggy isn’t gonna be in the picture anymore as far as we can tell so c’est la vie.

Nothing was more important than the trial, at least from Foggy’s perceptive as their law firm and legal careers were at jeopardy. No reasonable lawyer would willing take on that case as we seen with the public defender. As for the Hand threat, what was it? All we know that the Hand was preparing for “the rising” but no one knows what the hell that is. Matt has no reason to keep anything from Foggy as he already knows his secret. What good does it do Matt to keep Elektra and the Hand a secret from him?

  1. That’s bullshit and will forever be bullshit. The only person they are protecting are themselves. All their doing is setting up their friends and loves to get wreck for when the villain finds out who they are or can establish a link between their civilian and superhero identities (How often did Spider-Man’s friends and family got kidnapped by supervillains thanks to the public perception that Pete is Spider-Man’s personal photographer?) and not know why it’s happening.

  2. His activities as Daredevil are Foggy’s business as he and Matt are business partners. Whatever happens to him can negatively impact their firm. Seeing how they been best friends since college it wouldn’t be easy for neither man to simply walk away from each other’s lifes.

Said little trial was to decide the fate of their law firm, you know the thing putting food on their table. Matt didn’t tell him shit about the Hand so how is he supposed to know how bad things were getting until the end? Foggy did luck into a better job but you said it yourself, LUCKED. It was by complete chance that it happened. The more likely scenario was that he would never find work again. So no, Foggy has no reason to feel particularly grateful to Matt for his new job considering the 1% chance people would be impressed with the Opening Statement he gave on the spot that he shouldn’t have been doing in the first place.

Also, to counter your “points”.

  1. Keeping secrets did NOTHING to keep Foggy and Karen safe. Karen…well, she puts herself into harm’s way every two seconds on purpose. And Foggy now has a damn target on his back from the Kingpin thanks to Matt pissing him off so he really isn’t safe either without that knowledge. You don’t even have to divulge everything. Things would’ve gone a LOT smoother if Matt just calls Foggy and says “Hey, I got dragged into some really weird bullshit tonight, you have to work on the opening statement”. The conversation wouldn’t have gone well but it would’ve been a lot more respectful and professional to let not only your friend, but BUSINESS PARTNER, prepare for the trial that he didn’t even want to be a part of that you will be absent for. I’ll say this. Putting on a Mask keeps your loved ones safe. Lying to them rarely does.

  2. Foggy WOULD’VE walked but there was this little issue of a goddamn trial going on. If Foggy walks, he wrecks his own career and potentially outs Matt as Daredevil since he’d be pressured for questioning almost immediately. Before the trial the two didn’t have much in the ways of issues with each other as Matt didn’t have Elektra making him a 20x worse flake so there was a lot more communication between the two. During the trial Foggy could do nothing. Once the trial ended Foggy was free to end the firm and cut Matt out of his life permanently (or as permanent as anything in comic book stories go).

Foggy didn’t happen upon luck for his new job. Common belief was that Foggy could have won the case if Castle didn’t tank it. Accomplishing the impossible gave him positive buzz within the legal world. Enough for Marci to get his foot in the door with her firm.

I’m not dissing his performance. But considering the main thing that people were raving about was his Opening Statement, the one part he wasn’t even supposed to do and was able to pull it out of his ass within a minute, that was luck. While it showed how damn good he was, he should’ve never been put in that position to begin with.

The main thing is that with everything being said and done, I don’t see any real feasible reason for me, as a viewer, to feel any kind of sympathy for Foggy or Karen, seeing that she has a bad habit of getting herself into trouble, but them’s the breaks with her budding reporting gig. Also, a little foresight from Foggy regarding Fisk would’ve REALLY helped. How did he not know that a man of Fisk’s financial and influential stature wouldn’t try to go after the lawyers and everyone else that played any kind of a role in his downfall? That’s just common sense and that Foggy failed to take that into account is solely on him; not to say that Matt isn’t in the clear, either.

Oh Karen gets no sympathy, at least when it comes to danger, that’s on her. I feel sympathy for essentially being treated like a backup woman for Matt, but not being put in danger.

But it didn’t seem that Fisk was going to really bother going after Foggy beforehand. He may have put a bit of pressure on their firm and that’s it, he would’ve focused more on reclaiming the streets. But it sure as hell isn’t Foggy’s fault that Matt stormed into Fisk at the prison and basically made him want to kill the two of them.

Foggy is suppose to know that Fisk would regain power in prison and that his best friend would intentionally piss him off and threaten to take away the one thing he cares about? Fisk had most of his assets frozen and his major associates are dead or were arrested along with him. I would think Foggy would only consider Fisk a problem when he has a chance for patrol.

LOL thanks for that. I do feel dumb now.

So when does Iron Fist start filming? I expected it be filmed around the time Luke Cage starts streaming.

Hell Yes!!! B)

Who could be the villain? I’ve only ever read the ridiculously broken version of the Defenders. Where they had to face off against ridiculously powerful villains like Dormammu and Mephisto.

lol overpowered levels

Late as always, I finally watched S2. I really, really enjoyed it.

Yo I swear to God, I watched S1 when it came out and I was the most confused person ever with how S2 ended:

Matt is walking with a bag
Me: "Whats in the bag???"
Matt meets Karen with the bag
Me: "Whats in the baggggg???"
Matt shows the DD mask to Karen.
Me: “… uhhh what? She already knows Matt is DD. He already came out to her and Foggy as DD in S1… Wait… did he??? Wait… WAIT? SHE DOESNT KNOW HES DD???”

I swear to God I was confused as fuck, I watched the whole S2 assuming Karen knew who DD was, the ending confused me as hell. Probably my mistake but throughout the season Karen acts as if she knows DD.

During the trial, Matt is never present and Karen asks no questions why hes not present… cause she knows hes busy as DD.

Karen to Punisher in the diner: “My friend… hurts people…” Yeah, cause shes talking about DD.

When Karen enters Matt’s apartment and Elektra is lying on the bed, half dead, with some old creepy blind guy in the room, she just storms off without asking a questions… knowing he’s DD and probably having some crazy adventures with a girl and his master, the blind guy.

When DD saves her in the factory, they are having a “moment”… cause she knows who DD is. (realized after he already saved her life as DD in S1, so that’s why)

When DD saves pushes them both from the shooter in Reyes office… she knows he can do that because hes DD.

I swear to God! I’m so pissed, IVE BEEN WATCHING A LIEEEE!!! LoL!

Talking about the shooter, I was sure they were gonna reveal he’s Bullseye.

Sides that, Punisher nails it, as u guys already mentioned it!

Best part about Punisher is that hes fucking relentless. He’s fucking deranged, you can see him in the last episode when he visits his house and all you see is his trigger finger pulling… an invisible trigger. Also, they could have fucked up his character sooooo easily. Like, you know that eventually he will become a nice guy. A calculated Punisher. When he goes with his army commander in the shed and Karen is crying not to kill him. I was like: “Welp, this is it! The Punisher will start using his head and get information outta the guy or some shit, he’s not gonna kill him. This decisions will change him for the best and probably end up with Karen.” Then you see the Punisher look at the commander guy, thinking about it… and hes just like: “Fuck it!” and shoots him in the head. I was like “HA!! You gotta be fucking kidding me, he gives no fucks”

I also expected the last episode where DD says “They are too many ninjas to count” for the Punisher to show up and kill em all, giving DD and Elektra the exit to fight Nobu. But nope.

Elektra grew up on me and I REALLY got that scene where they were stuck between the two ninja hordes, just talking about escaping together. Matt says she makes him feel alive… and for some reason I understand that. If any of you been dating fucked up (usually very hot) women, should get this. Basically you know you’re headed towards a destructive path, but the moments you spend getting there are some of the best in your life and when you get back to regular people (like Karen) the relationship is more safe but also more boring. No highs and lows, nothing. You won’t “feel” as much… fuck I should post in the relationship thread again, LoL!

Kinda expected the Rock guy from S1 to come outta that blood tomb. No idea why hes not present… maybe saving him for Iron Fist?

Anyways, can’t wait for S3. You know Kingpin is getting outta jail and is going after Matt and Foggy, with possibility of finding out that Matt is DD, hence reuniting Matt and Foggy.
