It ain’t the Devil/Mephisto though, it’s Death (skull imagery throughout the comic and all that). Frank’s basically blessed by Death to keep killing dudes for Her. It’s how he can just sit there and let Captain America fuck him up while he reminds Cap how awesome he is.
It’s how he kills so fucking well. It’s how he survives against true super powers, without any sort of discernible powers. Only Thanos and Deadpool have that sort of attention.
Punisher I think is a pretty decent brawler but he kind of has the preptime Batman superpower in that he always has just the thing he needs when he needs it and he somehow always seems to have a psychic sense and only kill really bad guys. I think that’s really his superpower, but there is honestly no way you have a gun fight in a city and don’t have a stray bullet catch an innocent bystander from time to time. Especially since in his books goons are just spraying the alleyways with fully automatic weapons.
The Rachel Cole Alves (chick Punisher) story deals with killing non criminals during missions. His prep time is amazing. His lack of holding back is what sets him apart from a lot of other characters. As a brawler he is meh. But his skill with weapons is almost unsurpassed. Would love to see a Punisher story where he gets some Iron Man armour.
Although Uber Avenger Punisher was pretty fucking OP:
Hawkeye bow and quiver, Pym tech and helmet, Iron Man repulsor’s, Captain America’s shield, and guns. GGPO.
His superpowers are completely intact. Not being a fully-fledged superhero doesn’t really change the fact that he can still hear everything in a three-block radius.
Kate was awesome in Fraction’s Hawkeye run. Aside from actually being a better shot than Clint, she spent most of her time actually cleaning up his messes.
I need Marvel to do a story arc where Black Panther marries a white girl. Preferably Big Bertha, since I hear black men like women with big booties and pawgs.
So… NBC has ordered an office workplace show grounded in the DC Universe. Think of it as DC’s version of Marvel’s Damage Control.
Funny thing is blogs have have been urging Marvel to do something with Damage Control. It’s an amazing avenue to bring these superhero universes to low-budget network television. A show about superpowerless folks dealing with the repercussions of constant fighting and chaos in their city. So much potential.
As much as I like Daredevil and Agents of SHIELD and hype about the upcoming Netflix shows, DC is really kicking Marvel’s butt in the TV space.
