Marvel VS Capcom 2 is the best fighting game ever

Ironic that White shadow mentions the year 2000, since that was the year that MvC2 came out  I wonder why a year that a game came out, it had lots of talk about it.

cuz it kicked ass

-if it werent for marvel i wouldnt have a reason to come here.
-after i stopped playing cvs2 i went straight to marvel.
-dont give what you think is an “educated opinion” into a game you know nothing about, thats like me says OMFG GGXX SUX BECAUSE I DONT LIKE IT :lame:

id say some games just have more to cover, more to talk about, and appeal to more people. saying all of marvels popularity would have been transferred to another game is assuming a lot. try taking your assumptions to an extreme to see how false they are. Imagine if the only fighting games in the scene were weapon lord, mortal kombat, clayfighter, and war gods. would all the street fighter fans have obsessed over clayfighter instead just cause SF didnt exist?

That’s a cop-out. If you really think you can judge how fun a game is when you don’t know how to play it, therefore do not know the levels of strategy involved in the game, which for most people are a significant factor in fun, then you have a serious problem.
I KNOW you can not tell me A3 would be as fun today, if you went back 500 years or whenever it was popular and take out basically everything you know about the game. To apply this to what you DON’T know about MvC2, you’d have to the top tiers, proper use of normals, supers, zoning, not to mention crouch cancels, v-ism, any form of mobility other than walking, etc. until you’re left with SF2. You wouldn’t have fun with it. You wouldn’t have fun with card games if you thought spades were always broken. If I were Apoc I’d say something like “You could think blowjobs weren’t fun if you think every girl in the world bites”. The fact that you know next to nothing about high-level gameplay (or to go as far as the blow job thing, "how it’s supposed to be done), then hell yeah you won’t know how enjoyable it can be.

And as far as the glitches thing, you play A3 and say that? Geeet outta heeerre! Also I’m SURE you’re aware of the fact that original 2-1’s were glitches, and they are the basis of our gameplay, so how can you say how glitches should be treated without treating individual glitches?

I truly beleive this game is awesome. I started playing it with shotos and left it behind for cvs2. After i got tired of cvs2 i went back to mvc2 and have been hooked on it ever since. Once you understand combos in mvc2, you learn how to break down the combo systems in other games since they are somewhat slower than mvc’s. 4 years strong and about to complete 5 this game ownz simply put.

Frankly, the only thing that even interests me about the game seems to be redundant the more you play it. The character selection is incredible. And so many choices. Whoever said, its all about the freedom, was right. But WHERE has that freedom gone? I hear so many people give so many reasons NOT to try the other ninety bagillion characters. Just do it, OCASSIONALLY it’s not like you’re gonna lose your testicles in casual play or anything… right??? They are there to be used.

When I look at Marvel, all I see is flashing, white streaky-thingies,the screen turning blue and score and score of blocking. And though I am no less a proponent of randomosity as any other, It gets to a point where I think to myself… “what the hell just happened?” It’s like I’m the wide reciever, and everytime I think Marvel is going to pass me the ball, built-in-bullshit seems to intercept and take it all the way home!

What it boils down for me is, I have played marvel up to the point where all I can find solice in is complaining about the shear stupidity of it, and occasionly throwing out shit that people have never seen, which is a whole hell of a lot.

Tekken Tag Tournament has to be the best fighting game ever! No way MvC2 gets placed up higher! Heck, King has more moves and strategies by himself than the whole cast of MvC2 combined!

haha, people saying mvc2 is all about glitches are retarded, you should go play mvc1, uncombo = the most broken shit ever. mvc2 has barely any glitches that are useful in actual gameplay.

ahvb x 3 is not a glitch. its legit. cable has fast startup on his ahvb.

magneto infinite is not a glitch. its legit.

storm LS dhc into sentinel HSF is not a glitch. its legit.

guard break is not a glitch. its legit. you can only block once on a normal jump in.

unfly is a glitch - i think.

the other shit was just lack of foresight by the game designers. shrug.

but there is no roll cancelling. kthxbai

you’re not the only one.

yeha i too came solely to find out more info on marvel and i joined in 2002, 2 years since mvc2 was released

Best game ever…meh i dunno.

But I found this site while looking for marvel strats and vids and Streetfighter related media. Randomly typed in google shoryuken, history from there. Thinking back on it, I was obsessed with marvel. Begged my mom to take me to the store so I could by it the first week it was out.

peace

Or maybe it didn’t really have any other competition in terms of games on a 2D front at that time. At that point 3S was still unpopular in the US, and it had already been out for a year or so. CvS pretty much gone with CvS2 here. CvS2 were still full of complaints of Sagats dominance. And outside of MvC2, what other capcom games would they talk about at that time? A3 was already out for 2 years, A2 was phased out. Everything else was either 3D, or console and thats not what this site is about. Exactly what? Nothing thats what.

to your 3 points

  1. Boohoo, what a loss I’d be really crying a river here.
  2. Thats your preference
  3. Excuse me, did I say anything about the system that would give you an idea if I know the game? Did I say that I hated the game, or anything like that? No. You came to those conclusions despite not having anything to back it up. And due to your automatic negative response to my post. What can I conclude? You’re a sad pathetic fanboy. And that is truely :lame:

BTW, frankly you need some help if a non negative post like that gets you riled up.

Also ironic that the site was made in 2000, around when Marvel came out. Many players here came here for Marvel and then diversified in other games making the fighting community larger. Not all, but many.

I had little interest in old-school fighting games (all VS after A3, which no one played in my area:sad:) till I tried to learn CVS2.

EDIT: Wait! Didn’t CVS1 make it’s debut 2000? Riiiiiiight

i would say this is the best game ever for the more younger crowd

MvC2 <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< pong shit anything is better than MvC2

I don’t know, back in 2000 and 2001, I thought that Mvc2 was the best fighter to hit the arcades, and I never played any of the versus series that were before it, and I sucked before taking the time of learning how to play the game.

Nowadays, I still play it every now and then, and it’s still fun, but still gets boring too considering it’s a 4 year old game(soon to be 5), unless you have a lot of competition to play against. The cpu is just too boring to play against, unless you’re just practicing/trying out new combos. I like watching matches more compared to playing now(both low and top tier), but Mvc 2 has had a good run. I’ve only been playing for 2 years, and went from only knowing how to use low tiers, to today training with Storm/Cable and Blackheart/Capcom teams,it’s just too bad the comp in my area is basically dead.

And for the people that said it sux and what not, just sound a little jealous. :wow:

those are some excellent points. i no longer have to blame japanese players. now i can just blame capcom.

but Mvc 2 has had a good run./QUOTE]

huh SF2:T?

Any game where you can take a win by doing heavy chip damage with no way for your opponent to counter it AT ALL is lame. I’ve notice most of the people that defend marvel(fireworks) can’t play tradition one-on-one fighters. I wonder why. There aren’t any easy chain combos that lead to extreme damage. You can’t run away all day. There aren’t 5 super meters for you to spazz out on. There aren’t any assist characters for you to hide behind for when you’re getting you ass handed to you one-on-one. Super moves take more than a HCF+PP/KK to execute. This games was created for casual gamers to enjoy. As you can see everything about the system that capcom KNEW about leads to this(and don’t lie either). It’s just that since there was nothing else around and the inclusion of so many streetfighter and marvel characters in one game caught people’s attention. It only got turned into a hardcore game because of glitches and people like valle and other high rankers playing it. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a fun game to play. I’ve been playing since I got the jap DC version, but it wasn’t meant to be taken seriously. NONE of the versus games were. That’s why they are labeled “versus” and not just streetfighter. Serious capcom fighters don’t have mixed-up lineups, only streetfighters. I know people will flame me telling me I just can’t play it/don’t know about it/jealous of it(that last one don’t make any sense), but that’s ok. It just want you to know: MvC2 was meant for CASUAL play. Still don’t believe me? Ask Capcom yourself. I did. Just have fun people I’m out.
