Marvel Vs Capcom 2 Dreamcast emulator screenshot

Chances are that character would be better than any MK shit released.

Try running chankast with no game running(so its at the main screen),and go to VMS,then delete the save files, then load up the VMS browser again and load up the VMI.

well… its time to up this thread.

no updates in a while, huh?

Hi,

About our missing in action. Chankast has been a very stressful project, it needed a lot of time to get it working. We did an incredible work to get the first release working in only 3 months, it was a full time work. After the 0.25 release I didn’t feel like doing chankast again so I took a long break, but
we have been improving a lot of things in that time. The emu is faster and need less memory to work, an early xbox version is working, it’s great to see shenmue 1 on xbox , the sound is better, …

About the future, we are thinking about releasing the source code and a binary with the latest changes.

^ thats the news i’d been hoping to hear for a while, cant wait until the next version is out now. i cant believe this shit can be ported to the xbox already…

Awsome! Glad to hear some kind of update, and that an Xbox port is coming out.

R.i.p Dc!!!

Eh not really, you need a pretty good computer to run Chankast well. You might as well buy a Dreamcast for $15 and buy MvC2 (or burn it eh), and it’d be less time consuming and more convenient. I just see this as a portable thing, I can take MvC2 with me on the road with my laptop. =)

Great news. Thanks for the heads up.

they said that it uses less ram now so u shouldnt need a pretty good computer just a decent one. and if they got it working on a xbox then ur cpu dosnt need to be that fast. cause a xbox runs a intel 733mgz cpu and 64mb ddr sdram memory.

the emulator will get more and more optimized as they release, by the time its in beta stages you’ll probably only need like 800 mhz

edit: since they’re going to be releasing the source code and all that soon… online play could be implemented by someone O_o

Well we’ll wait and see, my P4 3.0 ghz Radeon 9600 128 mb loaded laptop can play MvC2 fine, but my Athalon XP 1.8 ghz Radeon 9200 128 desktop can’t play MvC2 for shit, well with the old chankast that is, let’s hope you’re right with that one. =/

And they should really fix the sound problems that chankast still has. =/

Not only do they need to fix the sound issues, they need to impliment a maximum frame rate. I can’t play MvC2 on my P4 3.2 ghz with any level of accuracy because even on normal it is about 2X Turbo 2.

Not in a hurry, but do you have an estimate of when the next version will be released?

That may not sound very fast, but trust me, it is. An Xbox doesn’t have to run all these random programs and stuff in the backround like a PC, so it doesn’t need a 3.0 Ghz processor. That’s why the Xbox can run games like Halo 2 and Doom 3 and any other games that demand powerful consoles/PCs.

can you post how to create iso file from a dreamcast games?

if ya wanna be banned sure.

I don’t think you will get banned for explaining how to make BACKUPs of your games

There are plenty of good threads with skilled people explaining you how to do it with all kinds of links on most Dreamcast emulation related forums my good friend ^^

Anyway, the work has been really incredible. I couldn’t believe it at first!

In fact, my greatest problem is the lack of frame limiter. I mean: optimising is important, yeah. But anyway, the emu is already quite fast (all things taken into account). Not to mention that all PCs will just get faster and faster with time.

But having a game which runs too fast is terrible since you can’t have good control on the speed (even if you load the cpu with a parallel stupid program made to do X operations in Y cycles).

But, I do not want to be perceived as a plain lame-ass request maker. I’m just pointing a detail which is usually forgotten since most people just want an emu to be faster and faster nad faster…

P.S. Are you a move fan too? (judging from your login)

I know where to get isos to burn dc games but where have u seen dc’s for $15 nowadays, i want to buy one but mostly all i’ve seen are running for 35 or 40 and up plus shipping. So where can i get it for at least 20. I know gamestop and eb were selling them for 15 but they ran out. And as they are getting more hard to find in the streets, prices are going up online.
