Marvel just trying to cash in on the movie

Maybe bad superhero comics sales are because of this. Bad stories.

I started reading Marvel back in 2007 and I have never seen any good event.

And let’s better not get started with DC…

That’s your own personal taste. Their have been Def some good events in that time frame as well as DC.

Dafuq? When it comes to Spider-Man, he’s never been one of my favorites. But I find his old-styled interpretations one of the least unbearable of all them.

I read the whole Brand New day run followed by all the Dan Slott stuff; most Spider-Man fans hate it, but I found it entertaining enough to keep reading. To each one its taste.

Such as?
Secret Invasion = Garbage.
Fear Itself = Garbage, for God’s sake.
Avengers Vs X-Men = Barely Passable.
Inhumans Vs X-Men = Passable (if you can withstand the constant abuse mutants are subject of).
Infinity = OK, gotta agree this was pretty good =)
Civil War II = Garbage.
AXIS = One of the worst.
Secret Wars = Pretty bad, only salvagable stuff was the final Doom vs Richards battle
Monsters Unleashed = I didn’t even give it a chance.
Secret Empire = Garbage.
Infinity Wars = Meh.

Most comic book readers agree there’s practically no good Marvel event in the last decade and a half.

Stuff like the Marvel and DC events project a pretty bad image of the quality of writing for the casual reader. Too bad these same events are overly inflated and overmarketed, which results in a big amount of sales but only for collectors who mostly buy them for their variant covers or such.

Having a casual reader be completely mistified of how such bad comics can be the most succesful just keep creating the notion that comic books are some unexplainable stuff for fans only.

As for DC, I practically gave up after the New 52. I was really excited because it was my jumping in point to DC, but most of the books were so badly managed I haven’t felt the urge to come back.

Then stop reading comics and stfu if you think everything marvel and dc have done is so awful.

Go back to reading dc and marvel essentials while pretending like they didn’t do outlandishly stupid story arcs and events like they do now.

Secret War is great if you read Hickman’s Fantastic Four and Avengers run (New Avengers especially). The lead up helps make the story better.

it really doesnt matter what sagas i think are good. you clearly have your mindset and already put in a theory on what kept the companies going. if these events were that bad the industry woulda tanked out…not had down years straight up woulda been dead.

also dc comics been on fire for the past few years so i dunno wtf you are talkin about. their numbers have been beating marvel pretty consistently the past few years comic wise.

Yeah, I’m open to that idea. I know a lot of people appreciate those runs. But that also poses another problem which is the lack of accessibility and neverending read lists. ā€œYou have to have read this in order to enjoy/understand thisā€ ā€œYou have to buy this and this so you can later buy thisā€. Then casual readers think comic books are some confusing, mystic and frustrating mess, and end up abandoning it.

I’m not against ā€œseason finaleā€ events which are a culmination of good books, but most of the Marvel events are not the case. I had a lot of fun reading Infinity even when I didn’t read the previous series. I wish most of the events were as good written as that but sadly that’s not the case; and sometimes, these ā€œseason finale eventsā€ turn out to not do any justice to the nicely written titles they come from…

IMO, Marvel should do more stand-alone self-contained stories. That’s why the Ultimate Marvel comics were able to attract a wider audience, they were easy to access and read, at least in the beginning. DC used to have lots of good stories like that.

No, dude. That’s exactly the problem. Marvel’s events are not everything Marvel publishes. But they’re their most aggresively promoted, and casual readers think that’s where the good stuff is.

Marvel actually publishes some pretty good books, but very few people know about those and think they everything is the overflashy shoehorned crap they do in the events.

Not only are Marvel’s events (expect Secret War) tend to be shit but the changes they are created to bring only last about a year or two. It’s hard to stay invested when nothing sticks.

Oh I disagree. I think that events stuff is definitely part of what’s killing the industry. As for the sales, the events are sought by ā€œcompletionistsā€ and variant cover collectors mostly. Those fans are so hardcore they keep buying the books for other reasons, even when they don’t like them. But that audience is getting smaller and smaller.

This is my main issue with main stream comics in general. Too convoluted. Too many reboots. Too many retcons. Story lines spanning across multiple time lines and/or universes. Just a slew of fucking absolutely stupid and ridiculous stuff. But this isn’t a modern age comics issue. It’s been prominent since the 60’s.

It’s why I only read limited run comic books and I wait until the run is done before I pick up the trades because I don’t want any of that kind of shit in my comics so I research (without spoiling myself) before I buy them. The only ongoing I pay attention to is walking dead and even now I just follow due to being a creature of habit.

The Marvel brand will keep the comics afloat; some changes will have to be done but there will always be a demand for more Spider-Man and Avengers stories.

What I feel bad for are other editorials; some of them publish very good comic books, that would be a tremendous success if only they had the ā€œMarvelā€ brand written over, but only because of lacking support of an allpowerful brand, end up selling less than a tenth than Marvel or DC and getting cancelled
Shutouts to Valiant Comics.

So anyways, hopes and aspirations for phase 4? Would really like to see a she hulk movie.

Is she always in a state of green or does she return to normal like her cousin?

-kamala khan is confirmed for a captain marvel 2.
-id like more foreshadowing to the large spidey universe, like more wink winks…like maybe a jackal reference or sumtin
-more buddy crossover movies like thor x hulk. theirs literally a comic series that used to be dedicated to those kinds of things.
-shang chi is confirmed to be coming i think as a movie so im curious how that’ll play in

I would like to see a more cosmic focus. Get Nova, Surfer and OG Guardians in there. I would also like to see the magic side of the universe explored more. Get Brother Voodoo in a Doctor Strange sequel, bring in Blade and Moon Knight.

She’s not.

My expectations would be to include Storm in Black Panther 2, and try to introduce the X-Men and Fantastic Four in two years and not three. Also, please produce another Deadpool movie with the same cast and style of the first two.

Also:

ive read it/heard it from a few places i trust so unless you got proof im going with that.
