Well, Superman Returns lost to Micheal Cera over a fucking latte.

He even conquered Mary Elizabeth Winstead’s basest dignity, and got to hit.

Micheal Cera was OP as fuck in that movie.

People want depressed loser Peter because they can connect with that character. Those same people are probably depressed or stuck in a rut and want a character they can connect with in today’s world. They want depressing and melodramatic storylines for the feels.

I kinda disagree since depressed Peter was more about having too much on his plate. And then tossing it all away to do the right thing. I have trouble seeing fans relating to basically having it all and tossing it out the window for the hero mentality. Especially when it’s tossing out school, family and a hot ass girl to go play hero.

I used to love these things as a kid.

I definitely DON’T want a depressed or loser Peter. Only a more heroic Peter; remember the train fight between Doc Ock and Spider-Man? That’s what I’m talking about. Newest one is too much tween comedy.

Raimi’s movies liked to focus on the melodrama of Spider-Man and it got ridiculous at some points. Comedy is a core part of Spider-Man so I have no issue with it.

As long as it’s not slapstick comedy. The only “comedy” about the Spider-Man comics were his quips when he fought the villains.
In Homecoming the comedy went way further than that, like the part when he had to run across some lawns and ends up with his mask unmade on the tent of some tween girls. Then you had the comic relief friend who watches porn while Spidey’s fighting crime…

I get Spider-Man can work great for a tween audience and I understand why they’re aiming their movies towards. But I personally would like something different.
That said, I respect people who liked Homecoming, but I couldn’t be less excited about Far From Home. Gonna watch it anyway ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Wtf Spiderman comics were you reading? He had full on straight up comedy runs before outside of quips. He Hella has run through the gambit of emotions but to say he never did slapstick is a flat out lie.

If Spidey’s not one of my favorite characters it’s exactly because later writers made him way too pathetic and too coward to solve his interpersonal issues, to the point it becomes exasperating. I can’t look up to someone like him.

You’re a grown adult, you should been done “looking up” to comic characters a long time ago

Well, you can exchange “look up” to “like” the character.

I like the train part. God, still the New Mutants movie left before X-men go to Marvel again.

Barely alone. Some of the best X-men settings involve space, hell dimensions, etc.
