Which character you guys think Michael B. Jordan will end up playing? He’s never been a villain before but with his acting pedigree he would make for a great Killmonger.
I really like the guy that plays Captain America now. I think he does a good job of the character. I can be critical of a few of their casting choices but I feel like they got that one spot on.
I’ve seen that guy in several films and he plays the same character in every one. That’s fine and all but I’m not going to pretend he’s amazing or some stupid shit.
(I don’t even like Bond yet the idea of Fassbender as Bond is actually kind of nice. Besides, we all know there will be a ginger James Bond before there’s a black one. [/Ian Fleming hates black people] [/stay losing Idris Elba])
Just got back from seeing it a second time, this time with five other people rather than just two family members. Beyond trying to see what I missed now that I knew was coming, it was an interestingly different experience between it being a bigger theater–that I somewhat hate going to–and with of course a different audience. It seems like the audience I was there with got noticeably more depressed towards the end of the movie than the first audience got, especially if I could feel it. Maybe I was just aware of it this time around, however, given that I already knew how relatively dark the last thirty minutes or so gets.
Spoiler
Speaking of which depressing things, one of the things I noticed this time around was that Zemo outright deletes the message of his wife from his phone. I mean, it was already pretty damn obvious was absolutely intent on killing himself after his plan went off, but it’s just a nice little touch that helps seal the deal on that matter, especially since T’Challa saved him. [/totally won’t bite anyone in the ass later, even if Rhodey can’t feel it at this point]
One of things I noticed that I had missed before is that T’Challa mentions the Egyptian (cat) goddesses Bast and Sekhmet relatively shortly after he’s introduced, which was interesting since it never occurred to me what Wakanda’s religion might be beyond “Better Than Thou. Praise Hudlin.” Do the Wakandans worship Egyptian god(desse)s in the comic as well, @RockBogart?
I’ll genuinely laugh if in that remaining 10% the Black Panther movie ends up having more Asian people than the Doctor Strange movie is currently looking like it has.
Bast is the actual god in the comics that most Wakandans worship as the panther god and who the royal family get their powers from when they eat the heart-shaped herb to become Black Panther.
Bast, Sekhmet, and Ghekre are the gods worshipped in the Panther, Lion and White Gorilla cults respectively in Wakanda.
to add to this: bast is prayed by a few african areas but he has taken to wakanda especially. doom tricked the god into helping him out to take over to bring “peace to the world” lol. oh doom.
