Thor was balanced to be a team player since he’s a part of a team. Carol isn’t a part of a team and the MCU has gone to great lengths to show that she’s pulling quadruple time because everyone else in the universe is conveniently weak and she’s gotta clean up all the messes. Now all of a sudden in Okoye voice “She’s got help”. I know you’ll say it’s dumb to talk about this because huur duur go girls but it’s pandering in the worse way.

What due? Black Widow gets her due in every movie she’s in lol Wasp got mad due because she’s better at her job than Scott is. Like I get it, women are mostly relegated to being a side piece since none have leading roles. But it comes off like people are spinning this narrative that the MCU hasn’t been putting work to make compelling female characters. I’d say MCU Jane Foster is probably the only MCU female that got shat on as a character.
IMO the peak female empowerment moments came from Scarlet getting in Thanos ass and Black Widows sacrifice. Those were strong female moments that service the movie and don’t pander.
I’m annoyed that things like this will be hand waved away because you’re considered a virgin incel when you call out this type of stuff. It’s because of this that we have characters like Carol in the MCU that have 0 struggle, 0 heart and 0 presence. Just this idea of a really strooooooong woman because they gotta make up for lost time. This feels like some DCEU type shit lmao

Hawkeye was trying to get the gauntlet away from the outriders. BW was out by then. Everyone else was under rubble or snapped. That wasn’t a moment to pander to my male ego that was the last line of defense before the cavalry showed up.
I have yet to feel like any specific female moment in the MCU felt pandering at all. I didn’t think the Ancient One being gender swapped was pandering. I didn’t think Gamora being a million times stronger than non hax Star Lord was pandering. I didn’t think Mantis putting Thanos in a lull was pandering. I never felt like BW going 1 v 1 against Winter Solider was pandering. I didn’t even think Wasp showing Scott how to punch was pandering.
Those were great moments that show women being strong without it feeling like they had to be like “look guys!!! Over here!!! look women!!!”

So I’ve seen a theory that maybe mysterio is a future version of Peter. I think it’s funny but I like the swerve of it. They both have the same haircut going on, so I don’t hate it.
My big thing, assuming that mysterio is just playing everyone. It makes Spiderman 3 such a bigger story. The sinister 6 members in jail want to know his identity. Mysterio and vulture know who he is. At some point the rest are gonna find out.

The female scene in infinity war was natural. This was not. this was just “hey, lets show the girl power to show we love equality too!!!” Sadly,the writing for it was bad which i guess is ok since this was more of a political cliche than making an actual scene for a movie.

Off, Channel and input switches on remote controls still work. You also don’t have to buy a ticket. Engaging with media is an option not a requirement.
I can agree in respect to it not being as organic as the scene in Infinity War. However, Marvel is basically doing a showcase of fan moments and I look at that being no different as any of the others in the film. Saying its some sort of agenda based pandering is Mr. Fantastic level of reaching. Maybe I just don’t see how showing off a set of heroes as an ensemble in an ensemble film as an issue. They did make an actual scene, just not one you liked.

I guess because of Brie Larson. She has been repeating these political issues for points in almost every interview she has so i guess with her at the center, I think it’s a no brainer that it was inserted in here off of that same nature.
I can see how you can arrive to that sentiment especially if you aren’t a fan of hers. They have fans of different looks and backgrounds and the stories told are driving that point home. Brie brings those issues as part of her platform. Disney brings that in because
- It was a cool moment to show that it can be done
- The want ALL the money
That was a polling exercise and I think it delivered on that front while saying “hey, you in the audience, we see you”.

It would be… sorta of a duuur time lines moment but like what else could they do to surprise us? Everyone and their momma is gonna know by opening weekend that Mystereo is faking the funk. And people are already saying Fury prob knows he’s full of shit but has Peter along because he needs to expose him. Like maybe hes still bad but it’ll be a double fake out or some twist on the twist. How many times are we gonna see Peter get lied to by his rouges gallery lmao

Marvel carefully crafts the narrative painted. Black Panther was done so wouldn’t have been a need for that anyway.

Thinking on it, they play super loose with Peter having a secret identity. I realize this fool was introducing himself by name to everyone in the Avengers films and has a bunch of scenes with everyone sans mask in the trailer and the last film.
