If they didn’t know anything and the movie was supposed to start filming soon then a recasting is likely going to happen. Otherwise it’s going to need a big a delay and a complete re-write of the script.
They should just recast. Dont see what the problem is, its an exceptional circumstance. Just like when that dude replaced the other dude on Spartacus.

I’d very much hate to see them just recast the character and pretend he’s the same person in-universe. That’s not gonna fly like it did with Bruce Banner.
Either give the role of Black Panther to a new character, or focus on others from Wakanda.

It’s too soon to recast. I assume BPII will move 2 years until the end of Phase 4.
Just… whatever you do, don’t kill T’Challa offscreen. That would be disappointing.

The reason they most likely won’t recast because it’s too pivotal a role and more important to black culture than any other hero. Plus you will be living in the shadow of someone else. It’s always better to either get a totally new character as BP or shuri. So no one has tk live in bosemans shadow
You say this, but like, what else would they really do? Killing him offscreen obviously isn’t ideal but I don’t see what much else they could do to maintain the canonical integrity of whatever they do moving forward.
It’d be corny as hell, and maybe even distasteful to just CG the dude into a death scene. I guess they could maybe do it and just keep him in the suit, but, idk man…

Having T’Challa back at least will honor a character with 50+ years of existence.
Now I think Shuri is certainly a possibility. But they would have to build up for some good four years and several appearances if they want to do that.
Not just BAM! Black Panther II, T’Challa’s dead and Shuri will be your new BP!!
The extra years to have the actress grow up would be benefical too.
Yeah I didn’t believe that Boseman ever told Marvel/Disney anything about his illness. He would have been recasted early on had that been the case just for pure investment and insurance purposes.

Not sure if he left some will indicating what he wanted for BP. I mean, you have 1 week of life left (probably less), your head is in some more important things.

I think he might have at some point. Just because of insurance and shit they would have had to gone through. I have trouble seeing how he could had hid it and got past all the legal stuff

I’m still blown away by that. If Chadwick’s death REALLY caught Disney by surprise, what does that mean going forward? For Black Panther and Marvel as a whole?
For BP, it’s a tough situation. You can’t replace T’Challa, pass the mantle on to someone new, or kill T’Challa off screen and retire him without either decision pissing off a big part of the fan base. I myself would be fine with a replacement under these freakish circumstances, but I know that wouldn’t go over well.
For Marvel, are they going to start testing their talent for disease now? I thought they were doing that already. Are people who could have been in a Marvel movie going to be rooted out for chronic diseases now?
It’s going to be interesting to see how both BP and Marvel go forward.
