Marvel Movie Tiers: Lets Do This!

Don’t get me started on lunch and dinner.

I liked All Star Superman and New Frontier. They’re both way too short, though.

Doomsday was okay, but they were making the best they could out of sub-par source material. I haven’t seen the GL one.

I’ve seen some of the rest, and they range from meh (like Gotham Knight) to awful (egads, Public Enemies).

But wasn’t Public Enemies predicated on its source material which people felt ranged from okay to horrible? As someone that never read the original material, I liked Public Enemies.

I read Public Enemies. The movie shares its problems. Mainly that it doesn’t have much of a story, and that it quickly devolves into a series of wham scenes and character cameos.

80’s Punisher is fucking rad.

Except for naked meditating in the sewer, yeah it was alrite.

lol @ the worst Spidey movie being god tier.

The best Marvel movie as of right now is still Iron Man 1 imo. X2 and Spidey 2 are up there as well.

Where do you guys think we’re going to see The Avengers placed on the list when it comes out?
In my opinion I that the premise of the film gives it the potential to be one of Marvel’s best films, but at the same time it could turn out to be one of their worst films depending mainly on how well they handle certain aspects of the film that earlier Marvel films have both succeeded at and failed at.

1. How they handle having a large cast of main characters.
Examples of it being done well in: X-Men 1/2.
Examples of it being done badly in: Spider Man 3 (apparently Venom wasn’t actually going to be in the film, but the director Sam Raimi was forced by Marvel executives to add him into the film even though they were already starting shooting, it’s pretty sad imagining how much better the film would be if the Venom part of the plot was removed and the film’s focus was given back to Sandman).

2. The Villains.
Example of Marvel films with a good villain/s: Spiderman 2- Dr. Octagonapus.
Example of a Marvel film with a bad villain/s: X-Men Origins Wolverine- Barakapool (he was good at the start of the film as Wade Wilson then they killed him off offscreen, though it turns out he’s not actually dead, coming back at the end of the film with a completely different origin, powers and personality than that of the comics). At least Deadpool’s getting his own film later down the line written by the Zombieland screen writers to make up for it.

3. Does Mike Ruffalo’s Hulk get to smash lots of things?!
Example of Marvel films where HULK SMASH!: Hulk VS, The Incredible Hulk. (SMASH ALL THE THINGS!)
Example of a Marvel film where Hulk doesn’t smash much: Hulk
…BANA HULK NOT SMASH LOTS IN FILM!!! WHY NOT?!? IS HULK STARRING IN ART-HOUSE MOVIE?!?

Depending on how these and other factors are handled it could turn up anywhere from Top Tier like X-men 2, Spiderman 2 to with 1990’s Captain America movie in the Italian Red Skull tier.**

Remember how the middle act of Iron Man 2 felt crammed with stuff that didn’t really go together? That’s how I imagine The Avengers being in its entirety.

My vision and hearing got punished by thor 3d, other than that it was ok…

I got the Avengers movie ranking high. With Whedon on board and the snippet from the trailers, I got high hopes for this one. If anything, i see it as being a solid movie with people probably nitpicking it to death.

With Whedon directing, I expect a lot of “Tony Stark Snark”.

What should of happened in ‘that’ scene in the Avengers trailer
