Marvel Comics Thread

Yeah, he always was an android(In regular continuity I think parts of him were used to create Vision) and no, this is not Earth 616. Earth X is a great read. One of my favorites.

I doubt Earth X was ever going to be part of 616 really. There’s no way any future comic can be considered part of the mainstream storyline/universe because it would pigeon-hole writers for years. “Can we kill this guy? No he’s in Earth X, he’s untouchable! Can we reveal Wolverine’s an evolutionary mistep? No Earth X said he was an alien!” And so on, and so on. Nature of the beast and all.

Earth X / Paradise X is a really good read though.

Imagine the fun they could have with the Watcher though

You could technically sneak hints and traits form the series into the 616. The X-Men franchise has been doing so since Days of Future Past, constantly hinting at future aspects. Although the thing with Earth X is that a lot of the major Marvel characters get fucked over badly before Earth X to the point that if they were staring in comics they wouldn’t be able to.

Although Blackbolt in his Earth X gear would be glorious.

can you imagine aaron in earth x?

“you are the next watcher”

“die alien **** thing!!!”

Marvel have slated a new Iron Man TPB titled War Machine for a Late May 2008 release.

ive been away from comics since 96. can someone explain the ‘illuminati’ to me? where are they from and how they came about, motives, intentions, etc?

The Illuminati are a fairly recent retcon.

The idea is that sometime after the Kree-Skrull War or something Professor X, Namor, Reed Richards, Dr. Strange, Blackbolt and Iron Man got together and decided to form a secret group bridging its super power groups to protect Earth. They broke up around the start of Civil War over the Hulk issue.

^…but regathered one more/last time in Illuminati #5

i was looking thru ms marvel 24, and mm said “i don’t feel sexy anymore.” a few panels later, he brought out a huge gun out of his chest and yelled “I FOUND THE SEXY!!!” that almost made me buy it.

How was the recent Marvel Presents that had Aaron/Machine Man in it?

It’s setting up for a full story. Marvel Comics Presents is a bunch of blocks of stories that build up into a comic/mini-series after X issues. The Aaron Stack story is part one of five. It lacks in the funnies, and from what I can tell, is trying to retcon an explanation for why he is Warren Ellis’ Aaron Stack, rather than Jack Kirby’s Machine Man. There’s only 8 pages of Aaron Stack in a 32 page book (because it’s sharing time with 3 other stories, being part 8/12 of an Omega Flight story, part 8/12 of a Blade story, and a one-shot mini-story about Wolverine and Cyclops that ties into the Divided We Stand stuff).

Should you buy it? Maybe. It’s $4 per issue, and you’re going to have to buy all 5 for the full story. If you’re willing to pay $20 for a 40 page story. I don’t know if Marvel is going to release individual stories in the form of an issue or a bunch of the stories in a TPB or anything…

Unless you REALLY want that Aaron Stack…I’d wait and see how Marvel handles the series in the future.

It’s called an anthology.

fyi everyone needs to get marvel comics presents 10 starring deadpool

^ABOUT FUCKING TIME!

BTW some pretty interesting stuff coming from Marvel this week-

Should I consider picking up Clandestine? Also I’ve been hearing good things about Kick-ass…is this supposed to be an action series with little dialog and more ass kicking? If so I am so picking it up.

Kick ass is sweet its about a highschooler in the real world (our world) trying to be a superhero, hella funny

Not really. An anthology provides a bunch of stories that are complete. MCP has 4 stories that all end at different times. That and they’re not all about the same characters. Though it’d technically be called an anthology…and it’s better to say that than make up some new word for what MCP is. So yeah, sure. Anthology.

Anyway, Kick-Ass is definitely worth getting if you can get the first two, too.

The Twelve is god tier. :hitit: Black Widow (40s one of course)

An anthology doesn’t have to feature the same character in every story. And an anthology can feature ongoing serials.

Sure.
