CM Punk writes the intro for AvX Hardcover
Though I have no plans on buying it, that’s pretty dope. Article talks more about his love for comics in general. He loves Brubaker’s CapAm run, but who doesn’t?

When was the last time we had an honest-to-God discussion around here? Seems like every post is just a variation of, “OMG, did you read the new AvX?! Can’t believe [some sort of SPOILER]!!!1 Can’t wait to see what happens in West Coast X-Men #1!” Or “Marvel’s stupid, just look at what they did to T’Challa!”
Anyway, here’s my part in the… “discussion.”
Did you read that new Christos Gage short story with an all-star lineup of Marvel legends?! SOOOOO off the hook!!!1
Not one, not two, not three…
Didn’t get much today:

Still on the fence regarding picking up Ms. Marvel.
That Point One Issue wasn’t good. Where’s Hickman’s Avengers I’m dying here lol!

and of course the comments lead to the Kobe/Jordan debates. ROFL
On Avengers Arena, I love almost half of the characters appearing in it, plus from my limited experience with them Hopeless is a good writer and Walker is a very good artist, but I hate the premise so much I am not touching the book. Maybe if I hear enough people saying it is a classic story or something, I will eventually pick up the trade paper back or a single issue to try it out (that is how I got into Avengers: The Initiative) but that is about it.
I’m also convince Marvel sent it out to die, trying to appeal to a teenage audience that may like this stuff but don’t read comics like that and it will be cancelled in about 12 issues so no use getting attached.
I bought the last Point One issue at full price and regretted it a month and half later when the very shop I bought it at was selling it for $2.99, later I saw issues being given away free on Free Comic Book Day there. So I am on a wait and see tip but from what I skimmed, I wasn’t missing much. Nice stories but hardly worth the price right now.
The main story of Sam Jack Fury and Coulson wasn’t bad in the Point One issue but it failed for me personally because every story that was pitched didn’t make me interested. Non Heinberg Young Avengers isn’t working. Don’t care about Noveph Loeb JunioRIP. If you didn’t tell me that was a Gaurdian’s of the Galaxy story I’d have no idea.
The FF one gets an edge because of the artwork but I don’t think a one character study is the best way to showcase a team book. Fraction does great one character books, I know that. I’ve just never felt him on a team book and that’s what I needed to see.
I am still willing to give the first issues of Young Avengers and FF a shot but I decided on that before I read the Point One issue. This book almost changed my mind.
I haven’t read the Marvel NOW! Point One or the free preview yet - if there was an Avengers Arena stuff was is this?
That looks amazing.
For the record - I doubt many of the casualties in this series are gonna stay dead. By the end I think most (if not all) will back due to some trickery on Arcade’s part.
Looking forward to All New X-Men, like that it seems like Mags is staying on the heroic side and Cyke throwing up the X on camera was awesome. Hope when the comic comes out that stays textless.
What book are you reading that makes you think Mags is staying “heroic”?
It’ll be interesting to see what path they take w/ him. The way AvX ended, they could easily have him stay heroic or go back to villainy. We know his relationship w/ Rogue is over (at least for the foreseeable future) due to that issue of X-Men Legacy, so he has nothing to tie him down.
I feel like the tweener role is best for him. He isn’t a believable pure hero, but he’s not written as a villain the level of Sinister or Red Skull.
AvX Consequences #2 was low on action, but felt the dialogue between Cyclops and Wolverine was pretty on point. It was almost like the writer read a ton of comic forums and just used what was being said. I loved the line: “Some rebellious kid is your going walk through those school doors w/ a shirt saying Cyclops was right”.
Days of the Future Past news:
The commenters brought up an interesting point - will they use Kitty, Bishop or someone else? I think it’s obvious FOX has no qualms on diverging from the comic (ahem… Havok, White Queen, etc in First Class) so from a straight “blockbuster movie” standpoint, I think I’d rather see something similar to the cartoon arc where they used Bishop and maybe even through Cable in there. I think that’d make for a more entertaining movie (mutants from the future w/ big guns!) than using Kitty.
Last but not least, January solicitations are out! Spoilers obviously:
Gillen is a great writer. Sucks to see him leave X-Men and Journey Into Mystery, but he still gets to write Kid Loki in Young Avengers though.
i like this edit of avx
All New X-Men preview, he’s going around with Cyke, Emma, and Magick being heroes destpie what Cap and the others think.
Was reading a summary kinda of Avengers vs X-men and came across this sentence.
" As Magneto, Storm and Psylocke prepare to go to the Moon "
MAHVEL BABEH
also, as far as Magneto goes, would you say he is a villain? Saw someone say he really isnt
I honestly don’t think he is now. His mini series painted him as a tweener if anything. His way of thinking was more black and white in the old days, now it seems a little of both.
According to Liefeld it looks like the Deadpool movie is back on. Wait Liefeld is involved? Oh well thank goodness it’s not an animated movie.

Agh, I like what Marvel Now is trying to do, but some of those choices. Bendis on Guardians? I just dunno. I like the stories Bendis tells, but I don’t like him not knowing the characters he writes about, and that’s a big, big, big thing for me when it comes to my Guardians. And Loeb with his new Nova, I just dunno. No, the problem is I do know, but I wish, just please, either don’t suck, or let a more fitting writer come in after the first story arc. Please.
Hickman on Avengers though. That’s gon’ be dat hotness. And he’s doin’ New Avengers with the Illuminati. Oh boyoboyoboi. Gon be so tight. And I’m intrigued about what’s gonna go down in Thor. Lookin’ forward to that. And Iron Man’s got my dude Gillen on it, so yeah. And he’s gonna be on Young Avengers, too.
Over all, some good an’ some bad. Please, please, please don’t mess up my cosmic dawgs. Please.
Wait? Loeb on Nova? sighes and Bendis of GoTG. I mean why the fuck we dont have DnA. If not those 2 why not get Keith Giffin. If it wasnt for him no one would have cared about Starlord. The fuck is this shit.
New interview with Mark Waid talking about Hulk. I have yet to read or hear him say ANYTHING about Jason Aaron’s current run. And that’s a good thing…
If you want an introductory to the type of story Bendis will be telling with them, the past issues of Avengers Assemble dealt with it. Avengers and Guardians fighting Thanos for whatever reason. Haven’t checked it out myself, but I’ll look into it to see if it’s worth anything.
