Did no one read this post? This is a fucked up thing to do to a new reader looking for new ways to expand his classic X-Men horizons. Zephy is a psychic predator who feasts on the suffering of others, don’t believe anything he says.
This is not even funny to me, this is a messed up thing to do, to direct new impressionable readers to Chuck Austen. What’s next, hooking them on some “harmless” Mark Millar, work their way up to some hard superhero Bendis junk?
You are a monster, Zephy.
Are you guys seriously looking at this Marvel 52 reboot stuff with any degree of optimism? What are you guys doing, what is going on, has the whole world gone fucking crazy?
It’s not a reboot. New reader friendly stuff. Like the Avengers Assemble comic. Kind of ripping off what DC did with the reboot but not actually doing a reboot. You only have look at the Spider-Man Alpha stuff coming down the line to be able to tell that the universe will remain intact.
Not excited about it. Only excited that Hickman is writing Avengers. He’s been kicking ass on Fantastic Four, but a lot of people do not read it because it’s well Fantastic Four. He’s much better at writing a team book than Bendis, who has been spinning his heels for the last few years. I think he has no idea what to do without The Hood and Sentry…
Scarlet Spider’s been Kain for about a year now. Ben Reilly of Clone Saga fame is still dead.
I think the lack of response points to one of two options.

No one read it because I posted it, and people glanced over it and just said, “Oh, that rascally Zephy, he’s probably just hating on some other wonderful Before Watchmen comic book I’m excited about. Nothing to see here, I’ll just ignore him. Who wants to listen to a yellow guy who’s just full of spite?” (Meanwhile Sano was all, “He didn’t post a spoiler or make fun of my mom, so I don’t need to give him an infraction this time.”)
-
People DID read it, and didn’t respond because they actually agreed with and tacitly supported my recommendations.
What is more monstrous, what I did or the fact that no one else spoke up to help that poor guy out?
Minimum Carnage, huh? We’re truly living in the Stupid Age of Comics. Even if it somehow turns out to be the greatest Spider-Man story of all time (highly doubtful), the premise alone is silly. What’s next? The Finite Gauntlet?
Change ‘give him an infraction’ to ‘read it’ and there you go!
Hey guys it’s Evo time what are you doing talking about comics? Interrupting my fishing trip geez.
Thats honestly why I don’t read it lol. Read the first volume of FF and stopped when I heard it would then be mainly focused on the kids.
Oh Carnage, the one 90’s villain I really hate that has somehow managed to stick around. I’ll never understand it.
I remember them talking about Minimum Carnage back at Wonder Con. People still latch on to a horrible character. I remember getting into an argument on the Hero HQ boards about why Carnage sucked. -_-
Are the Avengers vs. X-Men tie-ins worth reading? Getting started on this series now.
You can skip them since its from different POVs. I do like the Wolverine and the X-Men and Uncanny X-Men tie ins.
Spider-Man movie was…awesome! I really, really didn’t like the last three films (Felt dated when they dropped, just bleh, I have a love/hate relationship with Raimi). But this film I really took to and enjoyed, which is saying something since at first I thought it looked like crap. Lizard was great, story was fun and serious, characterization was very believable, web shooters, and even the origin wasn’t bad to sit through again although I am tired of seeing Uncle Ben get got.
Although the movie terrified me. First 45 minutes there was spiders everywhere, and in 3D, I had my hands covering my eyes most of that period.
Teaser confused the hell out of me.
gonna start getting into comics(spiderman) what a good issue to start with?
I just got spiderman reign graphic novel cause I heard it was good so ill be reading it after I finish DCs Final Crisis
Last two issues of Spider-Man are a good jumping on point and shameless plug in with the movie (Lizard being back and all that).
If you want to go back you can start off with Brand New Day which starts off at 546 or Big time which starts at 648.
With BND after that you get great stories such as New Ways to Die, American Son, The Gauntlet and Grim Hunt. After that don’t read One Moment in Time and then Big Time is after that.
Other Spider-Man stories that are good
Death of the Stacys
Death of Jean DeWolff
Kravens Last Hunt
Nothing can stop the Juggernaut
The Kid who collects Spider-man
Essentials Spider-Man 1-4 - They are in black and white but they are really cheap and you get 20 issues per book.
A bit more info on Hickman writing Avengers and New Avwngers. Artists announced word!

Thanks. I ended up reading a couple and the only one worth anything was the Iron Fist tie-in since it gave some background as to why the main arc went where it went.
I’m digging Cyclops btw. Frak yes.
Does Amazing Spider-Man have an after credits scene? I assumed it wouldn’t considering it’s not a Marvel Studios film, so left the cinema when the credits started rolling.
