Marvel Comics Thread

Funny thing is, every comment I’ve read isn’t about Hickman doing Avengers or that Opena would be doing art, not even that Uncanny Avengers sounds pretty great, but people complaining that Cyclops visor looked wierd being in the shape of an X and Cap shouldn’t wear the outfit from the Avengers movie…dumbasses

I lol’d.

But seriously Hickman on Avengers and the Uncanny Avengers does sound fun, character redesigns look interesting. I wonder how far Marvel will take this though. Honestly, if they just ripped off the New 52 idea and rebooted I would be fine with it. I could go with a more fresh comic feeling and not being bombarded with EVENTS for a while.

I mean the closest DC has done to events has been comic specific (Court of Owls for Bat titles, Deamonites in Superman/Stormwatch/etc.) and it feels better and isn’t that big of a deal.

Just as long as Spidey isn’t a teen again I think people would be fine.

I dont know man…daredevil cap, punisher, uncanny xmen and so many more just all ready restarted with#1z like 10-12 issues ago,

i agree with ayo tho i fuckin hate cross title comics…i was reading the teen titans and then all of a sudden nothing makes fucking sense , then i see i have to buy more shit to figure out why there Where they are. with comics hitting 3.99 for most of us with a pull we get a 30%discount, the print quality has gone up and the paper…but fuck it was a 1$ for a comic not long ago…

Just saw Amazing Spider-Man. Andrew Garfield’s a better Spidey than Tobey but I gotta shave a point for his horrible costume and the new score can’t touch Elfman’s. Still well acted and very intelligent.

4 squiggly Spider-Sense lines out of 5. GO SPIDEY GO!

how much of the movie was origins…he was bite by the spider yadda yadda yadda as anyone really needs spider mans origins rehashed for them again?

Spidey origin part is about 45 minutes or so. It follows the same beats you’d expect but in a different way so it feels fresh and new.

If Raimi’s origin story was a 616 version than this would be the Ultimate version, best comparison I could make. Similar, yet different enough to stand on its own and an extremely smart take on it.

Kind of worth it since we have Web-Shooters and they got Spider-Sense RIGHT finally. So it feels new and familiar at the same time. I don’t think you’ll have an issue with the origin part.

I’d keep those as is and just let it ride, as is most if not all those titles are brilliant and well written while maintaining a good feel. Punisher is a top five for me, LOVE reading it. He’s one of my favorite Marvel characters so Rucka on it is a special treat.

Apart from that, it’s a pretty good film. No Avengers, but much better than expected. As a big SM 2099 fan, I absolutely love the costume and it set up the sequel perfectly.
Also Denis Leary looks and sounds way too much like Dafoe!

Finally caught news of the Marvel Now thing. Honestly doesn’t look like much of anything new. I keep hearing “reboot, reboot, reboot,” but it really looks like just the next aftermath after an event kinda thing. And with Hickman and Remender doing stuff, I’m definitely happy.

Putting that aside for the moment, I am still loving the FF in everything they do.

Good to hear the origin story isn’t the entire movie since thats what EVERY review site is making it out to be. Seriously every review I’ve read for the movie pretty much says its Peters origin for entire duration and was trying to be a gloomy movie like TDK. Might actually take a look at it now…like the new costume myself btw.

My biggest gripe with the outfit was the eyes. Whenever light hit it and they were white they looked fine. But they were black most of the time.

If they fix that or cheat (movies fake lighting 90% of the time anyway) and make them white more often it will be fine with me.

It looks like that’s what the video game is going to do so (lol obviously lighting in video game is man made anyway) so maybe they’ll take a cue for a sequel. Or his much rumored cameo in Avengers 2 heh heh.

New Spidey, Loebapalooza in Wolverine (Sigh), Infernal Man-Thing, and PUNISHER so far for this week. Give my thoughts once I get time to sit down with them.

Bad ass Lizard in ASM, both this week’s comic and the movie lol! Morbius did his thing too in the comic.

AVX #6 was okay. Making the Avengers look more & more like the villians of the story while the X-Men look like they’re defending themselves.

T’Challa bitchslapping Stark was funny

[details=Spoiler] When Emma burned Clint alive I lol’d
Scott chastises Emma for what she does and keeps Clint on Utopia to heal him (because apparently they can do that) next panel Cap tells the Avengers they have Hawkeye as a prisoner lol

Looks like there might be some chinks in the Phoenix armor with the Namor/Cyclops argument (“You might be a fine leader Summers, but you are no ruler.” Hmm, I’ll take it under advisement Namor.") lol[/details]
Looks to be a Namor centric book next issue

Started reading again from these last two, can anyone explain to me why Peter is such a jerk and keeps jumping to conclusions? I’ve never found Spider-Man so off putting before but he’s really not my most liked person in the book…in a Spider-Man book.

Guess I missed something in the last handful of issues.

You’d act like a jerk too if you’ve been around for almost 50 years and Marvel is like “Spider-Man is hip and cool now, give that nigga a sidekick!”

He’s always been like that. Didn’t trust Norman Osborn when he was good, or his former aid even after Cap signed her up as the Avengers liason, or Doctor Octopus trying to save the world, he doesn’t trust Morbius. Always going to not give them the benefit of the doubt.

Not that you can’t gain his trust, like Sandman did when he turned good a long time ago. It takes a while.

Spider-Man’s a flawed character. He messes up all the time. He’s us if we had powers. He’s not perfect, never was. Perfection is for guys like Captain America. Never Spidey.

Besides most of the time he’s right anyway simply because villains always go back to being villains sooner or later, just wait until the next creative shift.

I feel sorry for Morbius though, dude just got dicked around. Sure what he did I guess was bad but it was a means to an end (Regarding lil’ Billy). Spider-Man is gonna feel like shit when Lizard goes on his monologue and explains how he put all this together.

Been reading Venom, I’m actually enjoying this series far more than I ever thought I would. I know people give Remender crap for Toxin but honestly (And I like the character) he was C-list and Marvel dropped the ball on him long ago.

Creative team’s for Marvel NOW! Got released and I like it, apart from Bendis-land.

JQ talks about ‘Marvel Now!’ It’s not a reboot.

From what Brevoortand Alonso said in their interviews, I feel pretty excited to see what’s goin’ down. Based on how they laid out what Bendis will be doing with the X-men, I’m even on board with that too.
