I only just read the first Trade of the this new Punisher series (issues 1-5) and I really liked it. Seems like a good balance between Ennis/Aaron’s ultra dark Punisher from MAX and the wacky stuff I saw a bit of in the Fraction run from way back (never read that series though).
Are these Spiderman/Daredevil crossovers all under the Punisher label/series, or are they a seperate mini-series? I might check them out at the not-so-local comic shop next time I’m in town.
Omega Effect is pretty awesome. Chechetto’s art is nice to look at. It kinda makes me want to pick up The Punisher. I’ve heard good things about Rucka’s run so far, was just never really interested in the character himself.
You know if you guys want a better event from Marvel, you need to speak with your wallets. Buying every issue of AvX and complaining about it won’t solve anything. I didn’t buy Fear Itself, I smelled the stink when it went from a seven issue run to a 54 issue tie-in extravaganza a few weeks after the initial seven issue announcement.
For the most part Marvel’s major events suck, I don’t see the point in bothering unless you are forced to (Tie-in issue to a series you subscribe to.)
Also major events pretty much killed the Herc comic and I’m still salty.
Nah, most lately are all pretty meh as far as the ongoing story it tries to tell. The pitiful (And usually temporary pay-offs, AKA someone dies since Marvel has a mandatory policy on it now) ending just seals the deal.
Not even all that different from Secret Invansion, just confusion and mindless brawling right now from what I am hearing.
Siege was ok, although personally I enjoyed Spider-Island and Dark Reign in recent memory.
I haven’t complained, about the story itself. The way issue #2 was pretty well done, wasn’t as good as Iron Man 515 though. Fear itself I stopped keeping track of it after a while. The last event I thoroughly enjoyed was Siege, no intricate story, but it was fun. I agree with you there, but no matter how much I don’t buy JRjr’s art, he’s STILL drawing for Marvel. So I don’t know what you want me to do…
Fear Itself was the only event to me that i was like “WTF is going on”. There wasn’t much of a build up to me for it to happen like that. Secret Invasion was another that was hit or miss. The concept was interesting and the buildup for it was good as well especially on the cosmic level dealing with the Inhumans. So i don’t know. AvX is pretty decent so far, so we’ll see.
Well Rob Liefeld is over at DC doing work on various books, you could have it worse.
JrJr when he has time to sit down and pace himself can crank out some amazing work though, not gonna lie.
I only got three issues into Secret Invasion before giving up, I had no idea what was going on or how they could do so little in three issues. Was just extremely boring and poorly thought out to me.
Yeah Fear Itself looked like the biggest clusterfuck ever, shame, I was really interested in the original idea.
Secret Invasion could’ve been 5 issues tops. The Savage Land stuff was dumb and wasn’t needed. Once they got back to civilization and that big battle popped off I was set. Though I will say Secret Warriors is probably the best book to come out of Secret Invasion.

I won’t lie on certain superheroes he’s pretty nice, but you can’t defend the way he draws Tony. It’s the main reason why I haven’t red any of the Avengers issues he’s drawn for. No matter how interesting it is, his art appals me (most of the time). Thor Secret Invasion was dope, and I THINK I liked the Xmen Secret invasion as well, can’t remember since it was long ago. But Thor Secret Invasion was badass, Thor wielding mjolnir and stormbreaker together got me hype. Though Siege is still my favourite event till now. Fear Itself started off hype, but after a while the only relevant issues to the story became Iron Man, Journey Into Mystery (sorta), and the main issues of Fear Itself, and the last 2 issues were like on fast forward.
That just perpetuates the myth and theories in the age old Thor/Hulk Rivalry.
Real talk, even though I enjoy current Thor’s outfit, characterization and fleshing out, he still doesn’t hold a candle to the raw power of 1960’s Thor. Which is unfortunate, but during the 80’s/90’s he was damaged material whereas Hulk was relatively fine throughout all eras.
Cool to see “The Captain” briefly return though. Also even to this day I consider Tony a douche and villain due to Civil War (Not my most favorite event, despite how well written and done it was). So heads up, we could clash on some stuff, lol.
That reminds me I should get caught up in the Church of BRU Captain America world.
He is a douche, and he’s done quite a bit of scumbag stuff. I’ll accept when my character does fucked up things, but I will flip shit if you say “he’s not a superhero because he wears a suit he made”, that’s when I flip shit lol (or if people haven’t seen his movies)
