I don’t know if there is a link yet (at work so can’t really look around) but I guess keep your eyes on Newsarama, CBR and Marvel.com in about 40 minutes from now. Currently on Marvel the X-Men vs. Avengers blurb is the first thing that pops up so you can probably just click on that since they will be fighting over Phoenix.
Some of the links I posted earlier this week on the thread mention the stream.
Favorite Marvel book this week was Avenging Spider-Man. The artwork and story are still meshing very well.
As for Defenders 1 it was pretty good but I like a little more action in my comics. Still it ends with a pretty big cliffhanger so I’ll be back for issue 2. Not sure if it’s a book I’d recommend just yet.
Oh yeah Shonen Jump USA had their annual video game awards. Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds’ M.O.D.O.K. won ‘Best Headstrong Character.’
“I’m going to wrap up ‘Avengers’ and ‘New Avengers.’ At the same time the first storyline of ‘Avengers Assemble’ will be done. It’s a good time to move on to other things. Before I go, though, I’m ending things big. I’m in countdown mode. You know when you’re watching a show like ‘Breaking Bad,’ and every episode feels like the second to last episode? That’s where I’m at. I’ve been on the Avengers longer than anybody in the history of the book. When you take everything into account, I’ve written over 200 issues. I’m very, very proud of that, and what we have coming up this summer gives me the opportunity to go out on a high note. I know enough about showbiz to know that’s a great time to go."
Isn’t ‘New’ supposed to turn into ‘Dark’? If so then probably not.
I’ll miss him too. I won’t miss him ramming The Hood or Sentry down my throat or him making up continuity on the fly and everyone letting him do whatever the hell he wanted to.
I do like his dialog and the way he writes a book that makes you forget you are reading a comic and it comes across like real people talking. This happens a lot more in Ultimate Spider-Man but when it does happen in Avengers it’s great. I liked most of his events and ideas and he writes a great Norman Osborn. I hated House of M with a passion but didn’t mind the other events.
Ever since Siege though he’s been in a rut with the Avengers books and it doesn’t seem like he knows what to do next. He’s kind of spinning his wheels. Definitely time for some new blood.
I never bothered reading Avengers comics until Spider-Man and Wolverine joined the team I’ll admit it. Can’t say I’d hang around if he didn’t manage to keep me entertained.
That’s awesome. Haven’t even looked at that book after Whedon left. Finally have a reason to pick it up again. I wish Marjorie got X-23 for this team instead of her going to Avengers Academy. Hell I wish Gage would just put X-23 in X-Men Legacy. I REALLY don’t want to buy Avengers Academy just for one character. Still this is all around good news for Marjorie.
Tizoc - Ha looks like more Doctor Octopus in 2012.
Big x-23 fan also. Current arc is really fun (and Sana Takeda’s style is PERFECT for the type of writing that Marjorie has for Laura). The previous arc was kinda too…science fiction-y for me? I don’t think she should be meddling in cosmic affairs like that, and while Phil Noto is an awesome artist I don’t like him with X-23.
Target X is also one of my favorite stories.
On the subject of Spidey. I recently dl’d all of Ultimate Spidey. Don’t worry I do plan on getting them all in trade. Ultimate Spidey is fucking awesome. It’s really hard to stop reading. Bendis really focuses on Peter more so IMO than the 616 U does. Well Slott does and has done a really good job at that too since he’s hopped on.
