Spider-Island #6- not bad, a bit to feel good for my blood, never once got a sense of danger for anyone involved. I know Sano is a Spider-whore so will keep the negativity to a minimum. I’m just happy Kaine wasn’t screwed for once.
Wolverine & The X-Men #1- I liked it, enjoyed the art and the story taking place and all the weird offbeat stuff happening. I felt sorry for Toad, sympathized with Logan and Kitty, found the Nightlings cute and Doop as secretary made me lulz. All in all, the comic did what I expected it to.
Even though there’s a new Ghost Rider it is still Johnny Blaze’s book. It’s just an attempt to make the book new reader friendly (which it is) and the new Ghost Rider seems temporary at best. So I don’t think you are supposed to care about the new female Ghost Rider. It is still Blaze’s book and the majority of it is from his point of view still.
It’s really funny and violent. A single issue has not passed that did not make me laugh out loud. In fact if you read an issue and you don’t like it please go kill yourself. :badboy:
LOL what’s Halloween without someone talking about Ghost Rider and murder anyway?
If you love the Defenders, you should definitely check out The Last Defenders by Joe Casey and Jim Muniz. Great superhero team book that shows love to the original concept of the Defenders and it also has some fascinating subtext into what makes superhero team comics work.
I’m interested in seeing how Fraction reconciles his new series with The Last Defenders. He and Casey are buddies as far as I know, so I assume he’ll respect what Casey did.
X-Men reminded me how annoying a lot of the govt/military affiliated characters can be - looking at you War Machine.
Not digging the art in New Mutants, especially Warlock - like really? It had a really funny exchange between X-Man and Hope.
ASM was more cleanup work post Spider-Island and did vey little to setup new plots besides a couple pages here and there.
UXM was dope. Funny stuff between Cyclops and Storm. Loved the little scene Cyke and Emma. It’s weird how his character probably couldn’t have made the decisions he made without her around. Sounds corny, but she’s his rock now. That being said, I wish he were a little less… emo.
To my surprise I enjoyed Uncanny X-Men. Wow those are words I haven’t said in a looooong time. So long as they keep the stories as entertaining as this one and Greg Land never returns to pencil the book I’m down with Uncanny.
X-23 was great! Ha ha she was violently kicking otherworldly butt!
My favorite book of the week was ASM once again and if you know me and have read the book you know why. To sum it up, two characters and a stupid plot device GET THE FUCK OUT OF MY BOOK! And don’t come back! :annoy: Don’t let the back cover of the comic hit you on the way out!
ASM
Spoiler
Aunt May, Carlie and that stupid Spider Identity mental block are all gone! GOOD RIDDENS! :woot: Yeah sure I know Aunt May will be back sooner or later but I’ll enjoy her time away from the book. I’ll just pretend she died way back in ASM #400 for a spell. :wink2:
Small Marvel week for me but a good one. Looking forward to the Point One issue next week. Oh and Joe Mad’s Avenging Spider-Man, IE the only Joe Mad issue in the series that will ship on time.
