Astonishing is the best X-Men book out there right now, followed by X-Factor. Bi-Monthly schedule sucks though, but I guess we get “Messiah Complex” to compensate, I got faith in Brubaker.
Speaking of which, the latest Iron Fist issue ownnnnned. I wonder if the prince of Orphans is Danny’s father? though that would be kinda of weak, but seeing as he knew the Thunderer and Davos very well, I would assume so…

Ultimates 3 art if it hasn’t been posted yet, personally I like the art and the idea of Venom taking the freakin’ Ultimates on. Though it seems horribly one-sided to me.
I didn’t know Hawkeye turned to Ultimate Grifter. I’m not feeling the art it’s meh.

I’m with 4Play on this one. This new Joe Mad art looks like some whack Pat Lee shit, except some of the figures have Rob Liefeld-ish muscles. And the gooey, faded color palette doesn’t jibe well with the over-the-top style. It’s like a homeless man’s Udon color job.
Someone bring back dot matrix coloring, please.
On the other hand, that Captain Marvel comic looks pretty great. Lee Weeks - now there’s a real artist.
I like the art on Ultimates 3 but I can’t stand Loeb writing Marvel characters for the most part. Whenever he’s with Tim Sale things seem to work out, but when they are apart things go terribly wrong. So I’m gonna pass.
I guess I’ve been spoiled by Hitch’s pencils but I kinda wanted Ultimates to retain the whole Hollywood blockbuster look it had. And I thought Ult. Valkyrie was fake? She didn’t have any powers like the rest of the Ult. Defenders.
Oh and yes Loeb is terrible. To me that’s a bigger problem than Joe Mad’s art. Strange, I thought you LOVED his last Wolvie arc Sano. :wgrin:
Was bringing back Captain Marvel necessary? I read the Death of Cap Marvel GN, it was tragic and heartbreaking why undo it? I know he’s still fated to die but some shitty ass write can change that now.:xeye: Oh well I guess we’ll see where his mini will go.
Man it was bad… I’d go into detail but I’m still trying to purge it from my memory. Hell that arc is the #1 reason why I’m not buying Ultimates 3. Thank goodness for Guggenheim writing Wolverine now.
I wish Marvel would make a trade with DC. Marvel would give back Loeb and we’d get McKeever back. :sad:

Therein lies the problem with Ultimates 3, if Loeb fucks up, it could be the end of the Ultimate universe as we know it, dun dun duh!

Capt. Marvel seems “Meh” to me, while I like the art and story, I was never fond of ressurecting people from a good death. And when the hell did Uncle Ben return? Fuck, nothing is sacred now.
I’m also curious to see who this Valkyrie is, and if the non powered one, how she got said powers.
Maybe Pym beat her too hard, some o’ those particles slipped into the wounds. Never know…
Yeah doesn’t mean I won’t buy it lol! 
But I quit Wolverine twice before. Once when Liefeld had his run and during the first X-Men movie when he didn’t fight any villains for two freaking years. Went back and got Rucka’s stuff in TPBs. Though seriously, I’ve never been of the ‘complete run’ crowd because there are times when artists change, writers change, you get tired of the same stuff, prices go up and you wind up having to drop books, you are in between jobs or are in bigtime debt, happens. I don’t have a complete run of any comic book series that has been running for over 20 years. I’ve quit Amazing Spidey 4 times in the past, it’s funny how you can even tell stories of when you quit a series and why lol but moving on. 
Loeb’s Wolvie/Sabretooth story kind of had me by the balls because of course like everyone I wanted to find out how they were connected. It’s too bad Marvel went that way, and gave the story to Loeb. They should of just said Sabretooth was Dog and called it a day…
On the plus side for me I like the Ultimate-verse but Loeb screwing it up to me isn’t as bad as him messing up 616 since that’s what I grew up reading… Prepare for his Sabretooth to be able to heal back chopped off limbs into place oh nooos… At least now you know how Wolvie survived being ripped in half by Hulk, Loeb advised he could regrow his lower half along with Adamantium ah yeah! Matter of fact his bottom half regrew a top half and his top half regrew a bottom half, there’s two Wolverines now, Romulus did it! BRILLIANT! GET THAT EISNER AWARD READY! :bluu:
So, I just read the latest Illuminati issue and it is definitely setting up something nice for next year. Very good read all around.

Wow this series continues to deliver every issue and this one was just all around badass. Spiderman and the Scarlett spiders working together to beat down some third rate vulture villians. To top it off the Scarlet Spiders pull a mind fuck on everyone and transform into different costumes like the black symbiote and Peter’s original costume. Throws off everyone including Jameson to the point where he thinks Parker isn’t really Spiderman. Then the twist at the end with the Scarlet Spiders being three M.V.P. clones with some of spiderman’s abilities.
I almost bought that issue of Ultimates Saga. Travis Charest drew like 3 or 4 pages in it, and everything else was just a recap of the first two volumes with Bryan Hitch’s old art. Still I was tempted to blow four bucks just for those Charest pages.
