Anyone else getting kinda tired of this, the whole “Killing X character from Y team, make a bunch of promotional stuff, have the character off for a few months then return then like Jesus’ second coming.”
I mean really, these characters are not dead. Shadowland, FF3, The Batman stuff, Steve Rogers, etc.
It’s just kind of repetitive at this point, I am no longer shocked because I KNOW they will return. Not to be rude about this or anything, just this dumbass old man at our comic shop (Crazy guy) who literally spends thousands of dollars there keeps trying to get me into these shitty comics, and argues with me about who will get it. Take FF3 for example, his entire basis for Thing being the one offed is a Fantastic Four cover where the Thing’s rock skin comes off and normal Ben is yelling all badass like, that’s why he thinks it.
What’s the cardinal rule of comics? Don’t trust covers. Even if Thing is the one offed (Everyone thinks so, I don’t see why they would waste putting him in Avengers just to kill him in a month) it’s still a poor way to base your knowledge on. Take it that this is the same guy who saw the X-Men teaser and thought the whole team was going to be vampires, so bought about five issues thinking they’d be worth something since Colossus somehow has fangs.
Other than that, I vote Werewolf by Night as the new Daredevil, or Shang Chi.
Oh and I got the GoG: WoK’s tie-in and loved it, the Quasar I loved and mourned (No one else did) came back and was pimping his proverbial trade of Quantam Bands. Need to see if there are anymore trades for this series out, since I only saw two.
The reason why Peter lost his powers in the first place was because of the pregnancy so this explanation would not make sense. When they left New York for Portland to raise the baby it was implied that Peter had lost his powers due to a lab accident. Even when he returned to New york he still did not have his powers for a while and it wasnt until towards the end of the saga that he got them back. If i would have to guess i would say that this x men issue probably happened when Peter and Mary returned to New York and he had no powers. Marvel would have to find a new way for him to lose his powers for any sort of continuity
Interesting. Still I’m sure all of the above can happen without a pregnancy or at the very least now it has to. Maybe after he lost his powers he decided to move away with MJ or something. Or he never moves since X-Men and Spidey #3 doesn’t say either way, he just stops being Spidey. I doubt Marvel will bother to explain further than that. I mean OMIT is still not going to explain what happened to his organic web-shooters for crying out loud…
40 minute podcast interview with JQ regarding the first issue of OMIT.
I wouldn’t be able to hear it here, do they like riot and bring out the pitchforks and fire? I always wanted to hear someone in the media tell JQ how it is, but mostly they just grovel before him.
Nah nothing like that. It’s actually a pretty good interview. Not too sure about…
Podcast
Spoiler
JQ viewing the original annual as MJ sleeping with Bruce Wayne before her wedding LOL but that interpretation’s been around for a while. Myself I never read the story that way but hey it’s up to the readers I guess.
[details=Spoiler] well i guess Drax forgot it’s a universe where things can’t die unless Thanos kills them, not realy smart
But it does look like Thanos was aiming for Drax to kill him after all he did provoke him
[/details]
BTW
If this event will continue to be so fuckin’ awesome in all the coming issues and it will have a satisfying ending (lets say like WOK or maybe even bigger)
this might just be the best Marvel event in… i dunno… 10 years atleast
Spectacular Spider-Girl was really bad ass. Now that the series / universe is coming to an end they killed a few Marvel characters off word! Fat chance either of them will return in the Spider-Girl The End issue so DEAD MEANS DEAD for once! Well hey we are talking about a world where Harry, Aunt May and Kraven have remained dead besides.
Really loved Bendis’ Avengers titles this past month.
One thing I don’t get about Secret Avengers is…why isn’t Beast covering his arms? I mean is Mars’ atmosphere not going to affect the skin or whatever?
Anyone else think Shadowland has more characters than it should? I mean come on
Ghost Rider?
It’s OK so far IMO, I don’t like how Daredevil’s become tho.
The Squirrel Girl short in Heroic Age #3 was sweet XD
Hulk 611 was fantastic IMO, especially the ending. Looking forward to the new direction it will take…so long as Leob isn’t writing it…
Speaking of which, demonic bikini, preggo Hela in Loeb’s Ultimates #3@_@
Marvel Zombies 5 ended rather…calmly, but I liked the last issue either way. Any word on if Van Lent will be writing a 6th series?
The FrankenCastle vs. Daken fight was nice and bloody but why did they shoehorn Wolverine in it? Seriously.
Thanos Imperative was great, especially when Galactus got his former acquaintances to put aside their differences and help stop the Cancerverse. My main gripe tho is that Rocket looks lame =/ Oh and anyone else displeased with how Drax is in Imperative?
Thor was godly as usual.
Thunderbolts was good too.
Millar’s Ultimates was fantastic as well, but I personally don’t like Dillon’s art style =( Anyone know who the artist on the 4th story arc will be?
Wade Wilson’s War is awesome, if any DP fan’s been looking for a good DP book I’d recommend this one.
Overall a great reading session, once again Mine was made Marvel =3
I just want to say that alot and I mean alot of people are upset about Doomwar. I didn’t mind too much but mang the BPAT in CBR is wow.
As for ASM: OMIT Why did they bother with OMD in the first place? I wanted to give spidey a chance around Back in Black but for chrissake I don’t think I’ll ever read it.
Not really, Shadowland doesn’t have all that many, and most who are there are obscure or B-list at the most. (Excluding Cage, Spidey and Iron-Fist I suppose). Still, Shang-Chi is pretty pimptacular and good to see him again, and the event itself is a fun read so far. Blood on the Streets and DD are good tie-in pieces, Bullseye one-shot was ho-hum.
Secret Avengers rocks, and Beast has the mutant power to keep his hairy arms fine in space. Is #3 out yet? I thought that would have dropped by now, eagerly waiting on that.
Man my comic shop is just pissing me off more and more. They forget to put stuff in my pull folder, then put things in they think I might like and expect me to pay for it. Uhg, so damn annoying.
#4 is going to be dope. I thought it was going to be a bait and switch cover but it’s really looking like Steve Rogers is about the temporarily use the Nova Force.
Only comic I’ve read today so far. I wonder if Bendis took that whole “You haven’t seen Ghostbusters” bit from the movie Zombieland or if it’s just a freaky coincidence. :looney:
And woot woot great ending!
NA4
Spoiler
The Ancient One appears! Hey think he’ll mention the fact that Shuma-Gorath killed him? Or hey maybe those green caption boxes were of Shuma-Gorath talking? SHYEAH RIGHT? Shuma-Gorath for MVC3 please!
Getting a little tired of the prose pages in these Avengers comics. After reading an Avengers comic I just want to jump into another funny book, not read an actual book man! Eh I doubt Bendis can keep this up for much longer. Kang and Doctor Doom were both pretty funny this time around.
EDIT: Review for ASM #640. Spoilers naturally. Um yeah still not reading O.M.I.T. Slott’s run can’t come fast enough for me…
