Sorry I meant Ignition; I kinda treat it as #0 ^_^;

Thanos Imperative #1 got sold out in my store
Bendis needs to learn a thing or two from DnA about big events
The only thing that awed me about Thanos Imperative so far is the main villain reveal, so…what is it to learn from DnA about big events again?
Marvel Cosmic is the the most solid corner in the entire MU month in mmonth out and DnA always deliver with quality, both with regular series like GoTG and Nova (lets call it the Avengers books of the cosmic in term of leading into big events) and the big events books like War of Kings an Annihilation
I dug Avengers Prime even though I’m mostly in it for the artwork. The story moved surprisingly fast for a Bendis tale so that’s a good thing.
Stephen King’s N. ended this week and i gotta say that i realy enjoyed it
It’s the second Marvel’s King adaption that i like together with The Stand
So I’m reading Brand New Day (Spider-Man) and I’m loving it so far. Looking back at OMD it seems like a total cop out as far as making everyone forget Spidey’s identity, bringing Harry back (or was he always back?) but I think it’s pretty dope. It kind of feels like the old Spider-Man just going around beating baddies and being funny which I guess is okay for me because back then I wasn’t born/old enough to read during that era. Like it feels almost EXACTLY like The Spectacular Spider-Man cartoon (r.i.p  ) minus being in high school?
What was it that Quesada’s been doing to Spider-Man for you guys to not enjoy it? I know I’m not at those comics yet, but just curious.
Harry’s return was supposed to be related to OMD it seems, but later on they found another way to explain it that didn’t involve magic or Mephisto. Because everybody hates OMD.
For those of us who have read Spider-Man’s past BND is a rehash and what’s worse is that you are pretty much guaranteed no growth in the book from now on. He will never get married or have a baby ever, he will stay exactly the same way he is in BND now forever and ever.
This is basically the big disagreement with fans on both sides of the fence. Some believe that Spider-Man should be about “youth” so he should never be married. Then there are those that believe Spider-Man should be about “responsibility” and what better way to make you more responsible than to have a wife, a child, etc.
Even with all of that if the marriage were done away in a better story than OMD a lot more people may have swallowed it.
BND starts out fine but later it gets into a rut. Oh you will grow sick and tired of him running out of webbing by the sixth story. They do switch gears up after a while and things get better.
My biggest gripes with BND are three times a month, inconsistant writing, inconsistant artwork, a whole lot of stuff still hasn’t been explained (like how did he lose his organic webbing) after about 80s issues YIKES… and practically no Mary Jane in the comic at all. I will pick it up now and then if they feature a character I like, but I mainly feel that I grew up with Spidey and saw him get married and now the comic is for people who didn’t get to have the same experience. Um, without Spider-Man ever getting married I guess.
Here’s a nice LOOOONG read on Brevoort of Marvel’s thoughts on the marriage which pretty much echoes JQ’s opinion on the entire beef with married Spidey. There’s spelling errors by the thread starter (like ‘teh’ instead of 'the). I don’t agree with everything Brevoort said but at the very least it’s an interesting read.

Nowadays mostly getting my Spidey fix from the comic strip (still married) and Spider-Girl (still married). I dig Spidey in the Avengers books since his marital status doesn’t matter there. I’m always up for minis like Spider-Man Fever. Big up to Chris Baker from Marvel saying that Spider-Man will still be married and working for the Bugle in Marvel vs. Capcom 3 too heh. Well LOL I think the entire game is just Pre-OMD anyway. :looney: Probably Pre-Civil War too but we’ll see. :wonder: Not that the game is canon of course because it isn’t.
But getting married and/or having a kid is irresponsible. Especially at Peter’s income rate.
LOL well MJ was a super model.
BND Spidey who is two steps away from being on welfare prolly shouldn’t even consider it but pre OMD Spidey who floated in between being a photographer and a teacher always manages to get by. He even lived rent free at the Avengers Tower for a time. There’s very few married couples in the US where only the husband works besides. I suppose even BND Spidey manages to get by somehow as well since he’s still not selling oranges on the freeway. :looney:
Since I can recall Spider-Man has always been depicted as a guy who wants to get married. Even when he dated Black Cat he pictured being married to her with lots of kids. That’s the main reason why JQ has always been a big advocate for Spider-Girl, calling it the natural progression of the character.
He just doesn’t want to ever see MU Spidey ever progress to that level.
Overall there were still much better ways to handle this than OMD.
…and yet Luke Cage seems to be doing just fine.
@Sano- Interesting points in your first post. While the only stories I’ve read of OMD are the recent Gauntlet stories, some of what I read of those were pretty nice, even though they weren’t about Spidey. I do plan to read Slott’s early stories some day though.
Looks like Spider-Man 2099 will be the third world in Spider-Man Shattered Dimensions! CAN’T FREAKING WAIT!
JQ got the same gig that Johns’ had over at DC and became Marvel’s CCO. Interesting. I hope good things come out of it. Those Fox Marvel movies (X-Men movies, Fantastic Four) need LOTS of help! :wonder:
He’s pretty much been doing that job since the first Iron-Man anyways, at least now he gets the raise/resume title.
If it means we never have to worry about BarrakaPool-type disasters in those movies again then WHO-RAH.
Did you not see the preview for Issue 2 at the back of the book.
Issue 2 preview
Spoiler
Galactus shows up alongside, Tenebrous of the Darkness Between and Aegis, Lady of All Sorrows.
Did anyone on here happen to pick up the Siege sketch variants?
I only managed to get my hands on the Captain America 1-300. Got it CCC’d at Megacon with a 9.8.
Only thing that sucks is the jack asses wouldnt count Laura Martins signature on the back since they didnt view her signing it…(Her signing booth was directly across from theres)
I don’t see your point. Luke Cage fathered a kid via one night stand. It doesn’t get more irresponsible than that. Also, Luke Cage makes money. His series driving force was pretty much about making money. He’s best friends with former fortune 500 company Danny Rand as well. He made a couple of investments that indicate he’s pretty well off too. Just recently he became leader of the Thunderbolts which is a government owned team now, so he’s probably making a chunk of change off of that.
Jessica Jones, although I’m not sure what she does now, has been a journalist and detective. Meanwhile, M.J. being a supermodel seemingly doesn’t make that much money. I don’t remember Peter and her living in an apartment that wasn’t anything other than below average.
Anyway, it looks like Sue Storm is going to die. I’m not sure how I feel about this.
stuff
Spoiler
I don’t actually believe she’s going to die.
MJ was only a real super model for a short time during the marraige, hence my laughing smilie lol! In ASM 300 they moved into a lavish apartment. The rich landlord got an insane crush on her, kidnapped her and later managed to black ball her from a lot of super model gigs. She did manage to work in acting gigs and such to help pay the rent whenever.
Edit oops didn’t notice that Tizzy posted it before me
More stuff
Spoiler
I’m thinking its going to be Johnny. They’ve killed Ben last time in story, Sue is the only girl and you can’t be fantastic without Reed’s crazy science. Not to mention, they just brought back Toro and the original Human Torch (who might die again as well).
