So who is writing BP now?

The other day we were playing MvC2 and my friend asked me about Blackheart. TBH I don’t know much about what BH’s done in the past decades, heck the only time I’ve seen in a Marvel comic was in X-Infernus.
Could some mention some BH info like his ‘great’ stuff he’s done and stories were he got defeated badly?

I read issue #7 earlier today,I’m not pleased

I go to CBR to read the articles and columns. I hardly use their forums. I don’t know who DMac is.

Dwanye McDuffie

I can understand the complaints of BP not being King and the such but the guy did like what 2 issues and people are already wanting to hang this guy? I think what is happening to T’Challa is a good thing and it humbled him. His arrogance and overconfidence got the best of him and he learned the hard way. Now it gives a chance for T’challa to explore this “darkside” and get his revenge. He can’t do it as King because it would or could jepordize Wakanda. While everyone is busy getting to know Shuri, T’challa is behind the scenes plotting his payback. What’s wrong with that?

I see nothing wrong with that. Truth be told it looks like he gonna be making a deal to get some sort of powers that may come at a cost.
Though i don’t see how his is arrogance and overconfidence cost him though considering he was basically thrown in a trap.

Let’s see I dont know having only himself and the Doras going to enemy territory; nevermind the fact that the Doras don’t have that type of experience against Doom and knowing about Cabal with these 2 glorified bodyguards and not having his main assistance be there to save his ass? I think that is a bit overconfident in my book.

Nothing is wrong with it,however the point that was made in an earlier post was the fact that Maberry took over & made unnecessary ass changes.Wakanda broke?Gimme a fucking break!!Wakanda was & has ALWAYS been a financially stable country & you have T’Challa & Storm as king & queen,so it shouldn’t have been a reason for JM to change shit up.Also I like Ken Lashley’s art when Hudlin was writing.

GOD BRU wants you as a mutha fucking corpse in CRIMINAAAAAAALLLLLLL!!!
http://www.newsarama.com/comics/090905-brubaker-simone-ostrander.html
basicly it’s a bidding and the money will go for John Ostrander
and the three winners will have thier names and nicknames for a dead mobster corpes
the bidding are already up to 465$ so i’m pretty much out of the race but still this is some thing huge

oh and CRIMINAAAAAL countdown 3 WEEKS and 2 DAYS

First of all BP never had a consistent version of his character or even a consistent continuity at all. When one reads the book from Lee to Maberry each one reads like a completely different person and country. Matter of fact even his cameo appearances in other books wasn’t consistent as well. The majority of the continuity complaints is based on why Hudlin didnt continue what Priest have done. From the supporting characters, to villians, to how Wakanda is portrayed has changed multiple times over the 40 year or so span of the character.

To make things more easier why don’t they just cancel the fucking series & reboot it to the way Stan Lee wanted

Exodus this Wednesday looks absolutely sick :)!

Wait, you didn’t read the Captain Britain MI-13 Annual man or did you forget about it? Blackheart’s in that along with the Demon Council.

Being a villain in Marvel, and not even a top tier one (but the son of a top tier one - Mephisto) you are just going to come up with a lot of defeats if you want to look at the character’s history that way. I’m not sure wins / losses is the right way to look at villains in a world where good usually / eventually triumphs over evil. Still, here goes in a nutshell.

He started out messing with Daredevil.

Greatest thing he ever did was kill Mephisto (with help) and take over hell. Then he got killed by Ghost Rider ending his reign.

Later he messed with Stryfe, became the Black King of the Hellfire Club and wound up getting locked up in the Hellfire Club’s basement for a bunch of years (Fantastic Four Annual 1999, he grew to become a big giant in that story). Next he resurfaced and was killed by Ghost Rider again, then he resurfaced in X-Infernus.

Yeah get the Captain Britain MI-13 Annual (if you haven’t already, I mean you were the one who got me into the series lol) to see Blackheart and the Demon Council again. Paul Cornell is pretty dope for referencing the Demon Council from Cebulski’s X-Infernus mini.

Oh yeah he did appear in it, thanks for reminding me. I tend to forget some stuff I’ve read sometimes
…but being locked in a basement? That’s…weird…

Well to be precise he was trapped there with a magic spell and a giant magic circle / pentagram, like the kind fiction always uses for magic spells or the anime/manga Full Metal Alchemist uses for alchemy. For all intents and purposes he was sealed away.

Ah OK, that makes a little more sense, though I’d prob. get a better understanding of it if I read the Annual =) Thanks for the info again
Gotta say I am surprised of BH’s scarce appearances in the Marvel U., and his first apperance being in Daredevil is pretty obscure IMO, maybe at the time DD was written as a Superhero comic like Spidey and such?

Ann Nocenti was writing Daredevil at the time. (We were recently discussing this in the Daredevil Thread.) I don’t know if I’d say she was writing the series as a typical superhero comic. It was was more of a soapbox for her. And she probably thought it’d be cool to have Daredevil fight a literal devil. Pretty lame.

Zeph put it best in the Daredevil thread. The writer Ann Nocenti thought “Daredevil… I’ll have him fight… the devil! Brilliant!”

Blackheart’s origin story is pretty awesome though. JRjr gets half credit for the pencils. He wasn’t ‘born’ from Mephisto’s wife or anything. There was a field near a place called ‘Christ’s Town’ filled with evil acts such as murder over the years. Mephisto used the energy of that area to create a son. As a result of his birth in the field, Blackheart is said to smell like a mixture of roses and burning ink. This is said to be an unpleasant aroma.

I think that if Bruce Timm ever did a Daredevil cartoon, he’d manage to make Blackheart fit in it. For some odd reason Etrigan comes to mind when trying to see how BH would fit in DD…

@Zeph- Umm mind elaborating on what you mean by a soapbox? Daredevil and devil might’ve worked if the devil put Matt in a very tight daring situation…:looney:

@Sano- Funny that kinda sounds like the Scarface doll’s origins somewhat (It’s mentioned in the Arkham Asylum video game)

Eh I thik the best way to fully get an idea of it is to read those issues.
