Its always been like that. Big companies will buy out successful small guys to strengthen their own brand. Marvel comics is probably never going to get more profitable then it is now thanks to the success of Iron Man, the promise of its next couple of movies and its comic books usually outselling DC’s stuff. Disney just want a piece and will not get a portion, while occassionally giving some to help out.
Really, it is a win-win situation, since I am willing to bet that they won’t screw with anything other then movies and television adaptations. So maybe at worst, the Marvel anime gets screwed a little, but when looked at closely, Marvel has been pretty much kept itself relatively away from controversial subject matter (not counting OMD). They are cool as a cumber with graphic violence but they never let their main properties, aside from Punisher and Daredevil, near the money makers these days.
It’s all good if this means that T-Mac will back off suing the Walt Disney Company over Marvelman! Otherwise, like Clinty, I doubt this will affect Marvel’s comics content.
Anybody else hear about what’s happening to that animated Planet Hulk movie?
Disney apparently decided that it’d be better if, instead of Caiera dieing and Hulk deciding to take out Stark, Richards, etc., that the ship ends up exploding with rainbows and candy and then Hulk breaks out into a musical number.
I posted this in the Spider-Man thread but just to be thorough.
Wow. After the Disney merger, Sony gave up the TV rights to Spider-Man. They still control the movies, just not the Spectacular Spider-Man cartoon. Hopefully Disney will give it a third season. They’d be stupid not to honestly.
Fairly good write up about the Marvel / Disney merger, only I think there’s a lot of worrying over nothing? Anyway skip ahead to the Disney related SNL video provided below. Very funny!
anyone know whats up with the Animated Thorfilm that Lionsgate is supposed to publish ?
its listed on wikipedia as cominging out this month , but i cant find any information on it anywhere ? … is it bogus information ?
So Incognito just ended and i have to say i realy enjoyed it (as one can execpt from the Bru)
but with all my respect to this book the new CRIMINAAAAAAALL!!! is coming out in the end of the month (on the 30th)
And so i’m starting a CRIMINAAAAAAAALLLLL!!! countdown (marvel better not delay this one it’s going to be about T.LAWLESS)
Wow, that’s what’s been happening in Black Panther? Isn’t Hudlin still credited as “Creative Consultant” or somesuch nonsense? That sounds horrible. Sounds like they never read Priest’s Black Panther, or if they did, they didn’t learn anything from it. It’s hard to believe that this comic is still going strong when they’ve canceled stuff like Captain Britain.
You know after reading the latest BP issue, does Namor know he’s gonna get some sort of comeuppance from almost getting T’challa killed? Does Doom know this too?
The last thing I heard was that the Thor Animation is coming after Planet Hulk. Of course with the whole Disney merger thing it’s hard to say what exactly is happening after Planet Hulk right now.
T’challa better stay in his place. Let that Namor shit slide. Namor is like a retard with Unbridled negro Rage. He will NEVER stop coming for vengeance if Tchalla goes at him. He’ll have to kill him.
Damn that. I say he go for it and fight. I mean both of them had a semi friendship going if only because they had kingdoms and had the same mindset when it came to outsiders. Namor basically backstabbed him by letting Doom damn near kill him.
I can guarantee T’challa could’ve cared less about that Cabal just like he didn’t care for the Illuminati just as long as they stayed the hell out of Wakanda.
lol yeah Black Panther’s prep time is too good. I mean ithis is the same guy that put Silver Surfer in an armlock, so i’m sure Namor won’t be a problem.
well if you are a poster in CBR then you would know what Im talking about. The funny part was that DMac was also defending his writing after the constant whining and bantering about the issue.
