Marvel Comics Thread

i havent been on here lately. was there some notice after the big crash? using the search option is the only way i can find that thread and the other comic series threads. theres only one page for the comics section. when did that happen?

im surprised its just going to end with the hulk gang. though it does make sense. i imagined a bigger kind of ending involving more villains, but with one more issue left i dont think theyre going to do that. the cover art if i remember right looks really decent.

Well how so?

Do you happen to have Albedo among them?

On the forum screen (IE the Forum Display page) go to ‘Display Options’ on the bottom left. Got to the option that says ‘From The’ and below it will say ‘Last Month.’ With the drop down arrow go to the last option, ‘Beginning.’ Then click on the button below that says ‘Show Threads.’ You will see all of the pages that way. In that area there’s other options to play with but this is the easiest way.

So Ultimatum…

That was legit one of the worst things I’ve ever read. There wasn’t a single page in there that didn’t have something either stupid or gratuitous in it.

Seriously, I can go page-by-page through issue 5 and tell you what was wrong with it.

As far as I’m concerned the Ultimate Universe is dead. No different than 2099 or Age of Apocalypse or Days Future Past or whatever.

It’s a sad but true statement. Miller is coming back this year, but just to end it how he wanted to before Loeb played master fuck-up.

I’d like to see the Ultimates universe carry on, but I don’t think it has enough wind under those sails to keep it going.

I haven’t read any Ultimate title, but I am a fan of Finch’s art. Would it be worth picking up the trade just for the art?

Yeah sure I guess. Especially if you like to see him drawing a bunch of people getting killed.

More on The Marvels Project, the original Human Torch -

millar will return the ultimates to what they once were

My store has a 20% sale coming up this Friday & Eric Powell(Goon)coming for an autograph session from 4pmto 6pm

Buying the Ultimatum trade would only encourage them. I’d recommend stealing it instead.

I think I may be done reading Marvel titles for a while… It’s all just so unimaginative. Well, at least the things I figured I would enjoy reading. Maybe I’m a cynic anymore. I’m just tired of reading crap that will probably be retconed in a year or two. I’m still trying to make sense out of why Mephisto wanted anything to do with Spider Man’s life a year and a half later…

maybe you should read better marvel comics
sounds like me saying “dc sucks… its so stupid and boring and unimaginitive…” and i would read is flash pre-rebirth

but really, i love my marvel, although im a huge marvel nuthugger, its hard to deny the quality of daredevil, captain america, thor, and iron fist r.i.p.

then i got my fun comics which i read for shits, deadpool, kickass, hulk (paks hulk, should be in the quality section), and then ultimate avengers

Eh, I have done my homework and the term “good” is unfortunately subjective. I just don’t think anyone is writing anything that’s worth a damn, right now. I just wish there was ONE mainstream title that used to be good that was still good, but I cant find one. Please, inspire me.

read daredevil or captain america
those are guaranteed good reads

they also keep away from the rest of the universe, no crossing over into company wide storylines

War of Kings # 6

[details=Spoiler]We have a new Shi’ar Majestor - It’s Gladiator, who after killing the Shi’ar elders is assaulted by pleading Shi’ar crowds. He’s holding the imperial scepter, and thus cry out “Majestor” (on a really nice full page shot of him standing, bruised and grim, among the throngs of Shi’ar)

Havok and Polaris “just walk away.” - they survey the damage of Chandilar, in a scene just before the Gladiator one, and call the Starjammer to pick them up. They’re still mourning Lilandra, and feel it’s best to just leave while they still can. I have to admit, the Starjammers’ role in WoK was a letdown. But really, the X-Men connection really became peripheral as this main story began.

A suddenly depleted force sues for peace and surrenders unconditionally.
A big hole in space and time appears where the T-bomb goes off.
Someone gets utterly torn apart by the simplest of words (think Darth Vader in Episode 3).
And the final line of the comic…“We’ve won.”

  • Black Bolt and Vulcan fight.

Vulcan gets the upper hand and taunts BB with the idea that if the bomb goes off too early, his family and people will be destroyed, and after more typical Vulcan verbal abuse, Bolt just has enough and screams NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO right in Vulcan’s face. The force of it basically tears Vulcan apart into a bloodied fleshless pulp.

Crystal and Lockjaw zap in to rescue him, and Crystal fixes the ship so that without Bolt’s voice it’s just a flying bomb that’ll go off and be relatively harmless.

But surprise! Vulcan is still alive and snatches BB as Crystal and Lockjaw zaps out. Vulcan screams and Bolt, who realizes he has to kill Vulcan, screams again and the ship blows up.

And I mean blows up.

The Shi’ar armada is almost completely wiped out (87%) as well as a few planets and starbases and such.

Maximus detects that the T-bomb’s explosion ripped a whole in space and time.

The remaining Shi’ar leadership contact the Inhumans and surrender.

Crystal returns and, seeing Black Bolt isn’t with her, Medusa learns his fate and breaks down, sobbing “What did we do?”

Crystal, also crying, replies “We’ve won.”

@The Doctor- What titles had you been reading?

Reborn #2 was REALLY good. It’s really becomming clear what Brubaker is doing. Captain America is time traveling within his soul so readers can relive events such as his origin story without the book altering past events. If you are familiar with the movie ‘The Butterfly Effect’ or Doctor Manhattan’s ordeal in The Watchmen then you can wrap your head around what Bru is doing. I too hate it when dead characters come back to life, (by now I’m used to it) but this is shaping up to be one of the best ressurection stories for Marvel yet.

War Machine #7 was action packed, and I really liked it, plus it had 2 of Rhodes’ team using War Machine armors as well!
The cover is so badass too.
