Big PAD interview -

Unfortunately, that’s what Damien said to Bats the first time they met :stuck_out_tongue:
Non the less, the action was good and you can tell Hulk/Banner is trying to hide the Green Scar persona as best he can.

Did you read Wolverine 75? It’s like the Bullseye mini only with Daken…

I’m not really a Daken fan so I was planning to take a pause on Wolverine until things went back to normal. Long story but I got into a random conversation at a Comic Book Defense League bar event this Wedensday (free drinks!!!) with a comic fan there. We talked about what part of Countdown was not retconned within a week once Final Crisis came out. Best we could come up with was Jason Todd being Red Robin, I think that’s it… :looney: Anywho we talked about the books that came out this week. He told me that Dark Wolverine was good so I decided to give it a shot. I picked it up on Thursday. I liked the issue, surprisingly. Moreso than the Dark Spider-Man issue. Go fig. :wonder:

lol, well if you liked this issue, I recommend reading the Bullseye mini once it gets collected
GotG was great this week-
Kree Soldier: "For the King!"
Gorgon is attack Jack Flag
Gorgon: "For Attilan!"
Jack Flagg: “Uh…for Cleveland?”

Cosmos gets knocked down and sees Lockjaw
Cosmos: “Are you God?”

Groot: “I AM GROOT!”

Kickass issue though I didn’t like the art.

Cool I’ll check it out.

The Dark Avengers ploting to kill each other in all of these stories is hysterical. :bgrin: Daken, Venom or Dark Ms. Marvel can’t do solo missions without killing a bunch of people or maiming them it seems. I’m sure Bawkeye’s the same. :looney:

Sounds like 'trixy is gonna get what he wants. JMS is gonna conclude his run on Thor.

YES! YES! YESSSSSSSSSSSSS! Today is a great day. Today is the day that I learned that Thor has a chance at becoming an actual comic again and not the boring crap (albeit with good artwork) I’m used to reading every other month. Don’t let the door hit you on the way out PMS.

Eisner-nominated? Heh. Shows how much that stinking award is worth.

I liked his run on Thor…he distanced it from the insane crossover happy storylines of the larger Marvel universe, and for once someone on a superhero book managed to tell a real story uninterrupted by some big universe wide crossover nonsense.

…the book was pretty slow though, I’ll give you that. A positive spin on it would be to say that it had “very deliberate pacing.”

To hear that JMS’s leaving the book because he doesn’t want to deal with another big crossover coming up is not good news for the quality of superhero comics overall.

I wonder who’s going to take over? I think either way I’m dropping the book - the reasons for his departure aren’t really inspiring in regards to the continued quality of this book.

Those are different GENRES of books. They make them and then whoever wants to check out those books in those genres goes and picks them up. You have no idea what the target demographic of Marvel Divas is. I don’t even really know what genre it is, with a Sex & The City type story wrapped up in a cheesecake J Scott Campbell cover.

Just because a book is not FOR someone doesn’t mean that (A) it’s FOR anyone at all or (B) that it even matters.

If I’m not a horror fan, that means I can’t appreciate the finer, more subtle positives of a story in the horror genre? Thus my opinion is worth less, critically, than a true horror fan? Okay, let’s say that makes sense, and let’s go with that.

What are the finer, more subtle positives of the first seven pages of this story that people are missing…? And are there true fans in whatever demographic Marvel Divas is supposedly targeted towards that are appreciating the finer, more subtle points of these seven pages…?

LOL, why always so critical of other people’s criticisms? Does a comment have more weight if it’s a positive one? If I go “Oh man, I love Marvel Divas, it’s great!” are you going to tell me to STFU because it’s not FOR me? Or would you only criticize me if I said it was bad? Why the double standard?

People can say whatever they want about books being sucky. It’s just as valid as an opinion someone has about a book being good. For example, someone saying “OMG Daniel Way’s Deadpool #5 SO GOOD” is way more offensive to me personally than if someone trashed FAAABLES!!111 or Y THE LAST MAAAAN!!!11, nevermind Marvel Divas.

Crimes much more heinous are committed every day on this very forum.

I’ll have to take your word on this one…I think you know more about penetrating kids than I do.

SICK BURN

I left my ass wide open for that zinger.

Also, I wonder how it’s gonna be for him now that JMS is gonna do more DC work. They’re way more notorious for interfering with their writers’ work than Marvel. Just look at their track record the past couple years with all the crisis crossover stuff and the whole Dwayne McDuffie debacle.

Would it be more offensive for someone to hate on FAAAAAAAAAAABLES!!!111! and Y: The Last MAAAAAAAAAAN!!!1 or for someone to shower praises on Origin?

Ironically the 2 best issues are where Thor beat up Iron Man (#2 or 3 don’t remember) and the one with the “Avengers”(600). Those issues were cool. The stories weren’t that bad either. Nobody said that every issue had to be a part of some crossover but to act like Thor isn’t even a part of the Marvel Universe that’s something I have a problem with. I think quality comics can still be made within the fabric of the Marvel Universe. I see it every week.

Frankly the reclusivity of the comic wouldn’t have bothered me if it wasn’t so gosh-darned boring. Punisher was gone from mainstream Marvel for how long. That comic wasn’t boring? What’s PMS’ excuse? Oh yeah he doesn’t have a 10th of the writing ability of Garth Ennis.

I have no idea what you’re going on about now.
How the hell is Spider-Man a different genre than Spider-Man?
I never said other people couldn’t like them, I said that people outside of the target audience shouldn’t be so shocked that they …aren’t the target audience.

If you don’t think comic companies create new stories and characters without a target audience in mind then I think you need to read some more interviews or talk to some writers because that’s one of the first things they do…decide who their audience is.

I also don’t care about negative comments.
What I take issue with is uninformed dumbfuckery (good or bad)that adds nothing to the discussion, which that website has more than it’s tolerable share of.

There’s a special edition of the first issue of Y The Last Man coming out next week that will only cost ONE DOLLAR! You can test the waters for one buck. Now you have no excuse!

Spider-Man is cool. Yet another on topic post from your’s truly.

NNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

I know how you feel brutha, let’s see if the new team will keep the awesomeness of this book.

I heard rumors (and nothig more than rumors) that Millar will take over the book
and reminding myself that he made Thor a tree-hugging-hippie in the Ultimates I can’t say it’s a good idea
Fracation should take over he is worthy

Umm I’m quite sure Millar wouldn’t write 616 Thor as Ultimate Thor.
EDIT: lol Uncle Ben appears in Hercules 130

First PMS now Millar? Man you guys are gluttons for punishment.

I’m not sure that Fraction would write a good Thor. This current Thor while the same person is much different from the anti-hero he was in Ages of Thunder and Reign of Blood. I think he’d just end up confusing the two.

Jeeze, first you hate on JMS for being too slow with not enough action, then you hate on Millar? He’s like the Michael Bay of the industry.

Fraction could probably do a decent job. Hell, as long as they don’t use Loeb, it probably won’t be THAT bad.

Maybe I haven’t made it clear in my posts but I honestly hate like 90-95% of all comic writers today. Sure they come up with a couple of interesting ideas every now and then but the stories suck and take way too long to end and have no respect for the past comic continuity. If it wasn’t for the artwork among other reasons I probably wouldn’t bother with comics at all.

Guys like PMS and Mark Millar represent everything I hate about comics today. Fortunately they’re teamed up with quality artists so their decompressed dribble is somewhat tolerable.

Oh God, not Mike Millar. Please…not him.
