I’ve always felt Marvel did a better job of resurrecting characters anyways. Like in DC even with Batman’s death, you know he’s gonna come back in some bullshit way just like Superman, which i still feel was a BS way of him coming back.
I loled
my friend told me about ultimate spidey requeim and how for some reason bagley forgot he isnt writing 616 (old iron man armor + extremis armor WTF), and i heard that bendis was basically writing the book with his ass
Yost’s Psylocke mini! Yost’s hot and cold with me but I like him much better than Fraction. Matsu’o Tsurayaba will be in the story, you know that guy in Cammy’s X-Men vs. SF ending lol! It’s been a min.
JQ talks a bit about the upcoming Iron Man 2 and Thor movies -
I’ve never read a single good comic by Chris Yost. He should stick to writing cartoons. That’s just wrong, to compare him to Matt Fraction.
The only stuff of Fraction I read that I can recall is Uncanny X-Men. It’s uninteresting and boring to me. He writes “The X-Men are in San Francisco and everyone accepts them now!” a hundred times, but never actually shows this happening or explains why. The action flows at a pace where you just forget what happened after you read the issue. It’s tricky for me to put a finger on why but his X-Men just seems off. Land’s art is bad, but Fraction’s writing doesn’t help. He should get Bru to help him out with the writing chores again.
Yost’s Red Robin is pretty cool so far.
Yeah, there’s really no comparison to Fraction.
Runaways 10 and X-Force has been pretty damn awesome.
Uncanny has been shit-terrible.
You’re saying that like Uncanny is the only comic Fraction’s ever written. He’s got Greg Land drawing half of those, so he lost before he even began his scripts.
Rex Mantooth, Last of the Independents, The Five Fists of Science, The Order, Immortal Iron Fist, Invincible Iron Man, Casanova… I don’t think Yost has anything that can stand up to any of those comics. X-23, X-Force, Emperor Vulcan, New X-Men, various other X-Men books - all the epitome of generic, Middle of the Road comics. And his craftsmanship isn’t as good as Fraction’s.
i like jeph loeb
red hulk is a really engaging comic!
Don’t play the “Land” card.
He had Dodson and it was still a blah read.
Brubaker’s Uncanny was middle of the road at best, too.
For some reason neither do well at the X-Men while Yost (and Kyle) manage to make compelling stories with old, established characters, and make them fun.
Body of work does not always dictate that you will be the right person on a certain book. Fraction is wrong for Uncanny X-Men. We all praise Carey, some of us like Yost (like I said, he is hot and cold with me). No one really praises Fraction for his work on X-Men.
I could not get into Carey’s X-men run. Damn Bachalo art.
Tom Brevoort talks about Dark Reign:The List & what follows next:
I see where you’re coming from, I just disagree. In my view, talent always trumps the title of the comic. Like… It doesn’t matter how “right” Yost can be on an X-Men comic because I don’t appreciate his sensibilities and his style of storytelling. It would take an extreme stroke of random luck for his work to appeal to my senses. I can’t be like those people who blindly love Deadpool so much they are willing to believe Daniel Way is a halfway competent writer because he happens to be “right” for the book. I scoff at that notion. I SCOFF!
A writer’s body of work may not amount to much if you don’t care to look at his individual works in context. I guess that just means we appreciate comic book differently. Don’t be trying to give me a hug or anything now.
runaways 10 was great. but then again, any issue that focuses on molly = win
I really enjoyed the Carey Bachalo run. That Supernovas arc was great.
So I picked up X-Men Forever #1. Felt really old-school but overall, an OK read. Kudos to Claremont for killing Wolverine, if he’s really dead. I got sick of writers making his healing factor be on Hulk-like levels. And this is from a guy who likes Wolverine.
Yeah we just have different points of view.
