Marvel Comics Thread

Did you skim through the comic Zephy or did you do that just to brag about it online? :V

Also Pet Avengers #2 was nice.

Miss Lion had me cracking up again.

Devil Dinosaur is one of those characters where there’s always a conflict among creators. Some people think he existed in Marvel’s past, others think he is from an alternate reality. Because when he was created in the 70s, people weren’t as certain as they are today that humans and dinosaurs did not live at the same time, and Devil Dinosaur has Moon-Boy.

Me I never liked the alternate reality thing, I prefer him just living in Marvel’s past were humans chilled with dinosaurs, never had a problem with it. I guess some people who are more into the science than the are into the fiction did, but most of the time it’s the other way around or me.

So I thought it was cool how this comic resolved it. Just Devil Dinosaur, no Moon-Boy in the past. And I suppose those who still go with the ‘alternate reality’ theory can just say they went to a parallel universe’s past, not their own past. Which is how people explain other characters time travelling to the past to see Devil Dinosaur like Marvel’s Godzilla heh, parallel universes. :looney:

Oh and did I mention Miss Lion had me rolling?

Question.

Most of the titles I read don’t really get pulled into big Marvel events and/or crossovers (best word I could think of to describe Dark Reign), they get involved but not in a big way. I generally don’t even like all that stuff but I’m kind of looking for a solid title that is in the middle of it all so I can keep up with the Marvel U.

Any reccomendations?

New Avengers seems to be the book where a lot of the major ‘Marvel Universe’ stuff goes down. It’s pretty much Marvel’s most important book the same way Uncanny X-Men was through the 90s. Or the same way Fantastic Four was through the 60s.

I skimmed every lousy page of it, personally rejecting each individual panel, word balloon, and molecule of paper.

:u: That is a man who knows how to hate properly.

Inspiration indeed

Just a reminder, Captain America #600 will be in stores on Monday. Don’t forget!

Dudes on CBR were reccomending Dark AVengers, whats your take on that?

Its pretty good, not one of my favorite books, but if you like to keep up with Osborn and the avengers, its the book to get. Also read the current ASM, Thunderbolts, and the New Avengers.

Edit: OH! And Invincible Iron Man! Love that book, very Dark Reign-centric.

Theres a X-men crossover with Dark Avengers coming up soon too.

Dark Avengers is cool. It’s funny and dope at the same time.

Not sure, but if you mean it’s ‘TEH FLAGSHIP’ well… Not really seeing any major Marvel Universe stuff happening there, except maybe with Doctor Doom towards the end of the first arc. The book compliments New Avengers more than it stands on its own. It’s very early however. Still, even you take the whole “Norman running things” to heart I doubt that Marvel will ever make a team of villains book the go-to-everything-happens-here flagship title. They never did with Thunderbolts and thus far they haven’t done it with Dark. New Sorcerer Supreme, Spidey’s first ID reveal after OMD (which was supposed to happen in the ASM first but didn’t), still a lot more major events happening in New Avengers.

Most Marvel comics nowadays you’ll be able to understand and enjoy by themselves without worrying about the entire world if you don’t want to. If you read Thor, all you need to do is read Thor. If you read Captain America, you’ll be fine just reading that. This rule does not really apply to crossovers, but even with some of the most insane Marvel ones - unless you want to know everything than for the most part you are fine just following the writers and artists you like.

Sano speaks the truth

lol how bad is it? I’m just avoiding it mainly because Claremont feels like he lost his touch in writing comics

Also, when’s the next issue of Thor coming out?

Ok I get you. I’ll just check out both.

Oh yea I completely understand. I’m content with the (mostly self contained) titles I’m reading. But for some reason I feel like picking up a read Marvel U centric title now.

Thanks for the help.

June 24 according to Marvel

I went to my comic store yesterday & picked up some comics especially Dark Avengers #5.I saw @ the counter the preview of Dark Avengers vs.X-Men & it states that Norman is going to unveil his Dark X-Men & showed the pictures of them.Namor is one of them but am I seeing right Professor X leading the Dark X-Men? WTF!!!

BTW I knew Marvel Boy was gonna tap Moonstone.I predict she’s going to wind up pregnant

edit–in regards to Professor X…I see why

Here’s my ? What’s Magneto gonna think?

So it is official

Black Panther # 5

Spoiler

even though the panther god said no. Shuri was like fuck it im putting it on anyway.

Yep.That’s pretty much it

You gotta love those old school stories
Nick Fury: “here put this cheaters on always worked for that other guy” gives Thor glasses
Thor: "I’m not sure about this"
Bumps into “someone” with glasses
Lois: "come on Clark lets go"
Clark: “gee that looked like… that have been… I could sworn… NAAAAHH”

made me laugh

Proffesor X being a douche bag is nothing new. Lying to Cyclops about his other brother, messing with Wolverine’s memory, Onslaught’s creation, etc. X at times has been a big fat jerky jerk. It’s cool when he and Cyclops are at odds. I’m not a big fan of the way Fraction writes X-Men characters though. At least in Fraction’s Uncanny -

Uncanny

Spoiler

Psylocke is a good guy again and back in the NINJA SLUT outfit / body. :lovin: Fraction please give her to Carey and get her away from Greg Land. :wonder:
