it’s weird.
two of my favorite Marvel characters are gay, and one pretends to be gay just so he can be close to the girl he wants to fuck.
(Wiccan, Anole, and Kick-Ass, for the record)

LOL I just figured “OH COME ON THERE’S ONLY A HANDFUL OF MAJOR MAGICAL MARVEL CHARACTERS HOW CAN BROTHER VODOO BE ABSENT FROM THE STORY OR AT THE VERY LEAST NOT BE A CANDIDATE TO BE THE NEXT SORCEROR SUPREME?” :looney: Eh didn’t feel just mentioning his name was spoiler worthy. Ohs well… The Spiral thing wasn’t much of a spoiler, you’ll see why once you read the issue.
As for an actual spoiler, or at least what I consider a spoiler? Shrug…
Wolverine Origins
So the Muramasa blade was broken up and infused with Daken, but only the claws that come out of his wrists are covered with the Muramasa fragments. He had an opportunity to kill Wolverine but he didn’t since he’s going after Romulus. The issue ended with them showing Omega Red all strapped down like he was Hannibal Lector being transported to a new prison. Despite the retarted plot LOL this wasn’t a bad issue for Way. DAKEN CAN KILL WOLVERINE NOW OH NOOS! :wonder:
Wait, why are they doing that? With Spidey, I mean.
@Sano- Big deal anyone could do it.
Also Sano, did Wolverine 72 sell out from your LCS? I thought you’d be all over it with how good it was.
I probably would say something about it in the Old Man Logan Thread before I spoke about it here. It was good but not great. As usual Millar doesn’t know how to end stories in a big way. I mean I guess this isn’t really the ending since you will have to shell out extra dough for a Giant Sized comic, sigh… Still this one just didn’t have the jaw dropping stuff the previous issues had, at least not for me. It was totally eclipsed by New Avengers this week. IMHO anyway.
Ah well I liked the action in it.
A big factor that hurts Millar’s work for me is the endless delays. His stories in the middle are so incredibly awesome that by the time the ending roles around, you’ve already spent 2-3 months thinking how great it will be and every story he does lives up to that expectation except for the last issue. Of course you have greater expectations for any kind of ending then ‘issue 2 of 5’ or whatever so it just never lives up to that. Civil War is the greatest example of this.
Regardless of that, the majority of Millar’s work I tend to have fond memories of the stories in the middle (MK Spider-Man, Wolverine run, etc.) and never the ending. He just never goes out with a ‘bang.’ Just my opinion.
I guess Millar has the Giant Sized Special to shut me the hell up, prove me wrong and make me print out this post and eat it. I hope he does.
the only time Doctor Strange shouldn’t be Sorceror Supreme, is when he’s dead, when Doctor Doom beats him, or when Doctor Fate crosses over in an event.
nobody else compares, no matter how fucking cool.
and I love both Nico, and Wiccan.
So the next book in OML is a giant-sized drawn by Mcniven, execpt it in early 2011 sigh SSSKKKNNIITTT
Since it’s a franchise-wide reboot, Spidey gets sucked in as well. Basically, Spider-Man has been the only Ultimate book worth reading for a couple of years now, so Marvel is desperately trying to fix the entire brand. Spidey is probably not going to drop in quality, since Bendis is staying on board. He’s changing up a lot of story elements, but it’s still in the same continuity. It’s the next chapter in the series, not erasing what’s already happened and starting over. Same with Ultimate Avengers, except that’s getting Millar back (THANK THE LORD). Unfortunately, I think there’s also going to be an Ultimates 4 for Loeb, but hopefully everyone will ignore it for Ultimate Avengers.
I thought OML was pretty good this week. The only real complaint with the series is that its continuity sometimes makes my brain hurt. Still, McNiven and Millar are a helluva team, and it’s nice to see them work on something that isn’t an editorially mandated crossover.
Nah no need for that, TBH a lot of series I’ve read are pretty good up til the ending sometimes, and no matter how unimpressive the ending may be the issues before it are still entertaining.
BTW I just got around to reading X-Men Legacy this week. All I can say is wow. :wow: This is a most read for Rogue/Gambit relationship fans. :lovin:
Hmm should we call those fans Rambits, Gogues, Remaries? Wah wah it’s Friday! :clown:
let’s not devolve it into celebrity tropes.
do we really need to turn Gambit/Rogue into “Bennifer”?
Depends. Which Bennifer? I know of 3. :wonder:
See, you wouldn’t have that problem if you just waited for the TRADE, BABY.
You might have waited two entire lifetimes to read the end of The Ultimates… but I read the whole thing on Tuesday.
Remember that old Gambit miniseries from the ‘90s by Howard Mackie (aka, Sano’s favorite Spider-Man writer) and Lee Weeks? I’ve been reading that on the toilet this week. (I just finished issue 3.) Lee Weeks’ art is pretty kickass…
But wow, Gambit is so lame. I never could stand that guy. What a horrible costume design. What’s up with that purple body armor crap? And that weird head thing he uses to keep his hair out of his freaky red eyes? Why can’t he get a haircut? And if he’s supposed to be a thief, why the fuck does he wear those giant metal cleaves? How is a thief supposed to sneak around wearing those clogs? Hasn’t he ever played Dungeons & Dragons or Final Fantasy or some shit? What a horrible character design. I’m just astonished that no one’s bothered to give him a visual makeover in, what, like 20 years? (And that blue/yellow X-Men uniform everyone wore in the late '80s/early '90s in the Muir Island Saga era doesn’t count. Those outfits were horrible, too.)
Rogue could do a lot better.
Low blow!
I got Lee Weeks to sign those Gambit issues at a con years ago. It’s among the comics my mother either threw out one day or my little brother stole and sold somewhere for cash (yes he used to do stuff like that all the time). Other comics I lost that way were Cyclops’ and Jean’s wedding issue that was signed by Lobdell and X-Men Unlimited 1 & 2 which Lobdell also signed. This is why I don’t live with family… :arazz: Oh well still gotta love your family regardless, living with them is optional… :wonder:
I love Lee Weeks. I think he is one of the most underrated comic book artists. He seems like a cool dude, too. I just read Modern Masters: Lee Weeks from TwoMorrows publishing and that was a really good book. Good insights and an interesting subject. He’s such a great artist, too. The Modern Masters book has a lot of his work in black and white and it’s so stark and crisp. Love it.
I even tracked down most of his Daredevil run from the early '90s. And he’s the only reason I bothered reading those Gambits in the first place. (I’m certainly not a hardcore Mackie-fan like you, Sano!)
Stop making me cry or I’m gonna toss a penny in a fountain and make a wish that either Doop or The Question experience a Mackie reboot! :wow: Nah I couldn’t do that to my worst enemy. :wgrin:
I thought Howard Mackie was dead?!
He’s 51. Curse you for making me google that! I BOW DOWN TO THE MASTER!
