I hated the whole Dark Avengers cameo in Thor…just AGAIN, trying to force this “Hey remember, big crossover going down!” shit down our throats. Supposed to be this big “monumental” Thor story…and there’s an absolutely meaningless and cheap big crossover tie-in throw in just for no reason.
Next time you re-read this issue, you’ll be like “Oh right, the Dark Avengers. Remember them? Well that was…fun.”
Olivier Coipel’s art is absolutely fantastic though, that’s a nice fit with him on the book.
Well, to be fair, had the actual Avengers shown up the outcome to the issue would have been dramatically different.
Only that Dark Reign is not a crossover event but more of a new status quo. I guess marvel wanted to show that all of their major books are in the same status, yeah it was a bit forced but it didn’t tone down the greatness of the issue one bit.

That reminds me of the time the OMACs showed up in Batgirl for like three panels. That wasn’t technically a crossover issue, either. It just coincidentally happened to have a big “INFINITE CRISIS” banner on the cover, just like every other DC book at the time, as though people would somehow forget that all their comics took place in a shared universe.

The whole idea of the dark avengers is so gay. Your telling me Reed Richards couldn’t just be like “Look, that is a group of people made up of villains that have been fucking you guys in the ass for the past 60 years. I’m fucking Reed Richards, I’m the fucking smartest man in the world and the leader of the fantastic four and now you fuckers want to have Norman “I’m the goddamn GREEN FUCKING GOBLIN” Osbourne to control everything? THis is fucking stupid, I’m outta here”

Can’t say I’m not enjoying Dr Doom making moves though. Namor/Doom team ups always get me giddy.

Say what you wanna say about DR but so far it works, Osborn is great as the man in charge (much better than Stark). Dark Avengers got fucking Bullseye as a hero
and the other books are doing good (like New Avengers)
and above all you get to see alot more DDDDDDDDDDDDOOOOOOOMMMMMM!!! and everyone knows the unwritten rule every book even with one panel of DDDOOOOOOMMMMM!!! is atleast good if not FUCKING GOOD.
I’m quite enjoying Dark Reign. It doesn’t really affect Captain America/Daredevil, and the New Avengers/Thunderbolts are awesome issues, and the Dark Avengers #1 was pretty fun. Also, Secret Warriors is awesome so far.
