Marvel Comics Thread

They have to replace the Ultimate revenue with something…why not something they tried and failed with before…already…again…

Hmm I keep hearing how good the 2099 series were, don’t all of them follow the similar concept?

Spider-Man 2099 was great, X-Men 2099 was eh but it had nice pencils by Ron Lim. Can’t recall too much about the other books though.

X-Men 2099 was very bleh. Same with Punisher 2099. All it taught me was that rehashing good things in different ways can work if you care anough about it. they did NOT care and it failed.

Anyone pick up Cable #11? Boy the art style just went from awesome and fantastic… to paper 2D animated Saturday morning cartoons. What happened? =(

Pretty much similar to Ultimate Marvel but with heroes in the far future and usually just being inspired by the modern day ones.

Spider-man 2099 was Miguel O’Hara, the X-Men were a bunch of mutants in the future and the Punisher was just a different less compelling nut with a lot of guns. Doom 2099 was(or maybe wasn’t) a clone of the original Doom that found himself retaking over Latveria and later the globe.

Pretty much only Spiderman and Doom were decent to really good books over the majority of their runs. Although I never was able to sample X-Men 2099 and much like the Ultimate books do, different books would introduce 2099 versions of characters and apparently there were quite a bit given how crowded the final books of the 2099 universe are said to be.

I own the first like 10 X-Men 2099 and they’re just not very good. Maybe it’s their powers or maybe it’s lack of writing, but Ididn’t like them in the early 90’s and I like them less now.

X-Factor39

Spoiler

The way the got rid of the baby was pretty smart. I was thinking a baby might kinda dull the dynamic of the book as i was reading it too.

^X-Factor dude, not X-Force

@Wellman- Thanks for the feedback, might give those series a read

So apparently…in the Marvel U…there was a Windows 97.

Lol, I wonder if it was garbage.

I know a few of guys dont like Hudlin but after reading BP # 1 he has vastly improved alot.

re:2099

Spidey was pretty good for me (got the 1st 50 or so stashed);

The Doc’s right. Like a rain washed Amaz#252, X-2099 seemed to have all the makings of, but none of the actual writing for greatness (1st 25 maybe). It would be nice to see a few worked into Bishops/Cable future history though.

When is Bishop/Cable from anyway? 25th/31st century?

They are giving Claremont another “non-continuity” X-Men book. I guess since he has had the most success writing stories far away from the current X-Men, giving him a chance to redo his previous comeback run might work out pretty well.

Best of luck to him and his fans.

Well as I said I really liked his early stories, but didn’t like his later ones.

Cup O Joe (Ultimate line Cancellations)

I have to say this doesn’t fill me with promise for the Ultimate universe.

Well, as long as Bendis is writing Ultimate Spider-man, I’m good. Also, Mark Millar is returning to Ultimate Avengers! FUCK YES! We need this after the fuck-up that is Jeph Loeb’s run.

Oh hey I was the fan that asked Cebulski about the X-Infernus characters at the con, but it was specifically about the Demon Council which Blackheart, Mephisto, Dormamu, Satanish and the Norse God Satan variant are in. Cebulski said that there was also a previous Demon Council which Loki is a member and there are plans for all of them in upcoming mystical comics. LOL love 'rama but no Blackheart mention? Why they always take the MVC2-ness out of my questions? Yeah still mad 'rama didn’t mention my Shuma-Gorath question last year.

When Millar and Hitch’s run on Fantastic Four comes to an end, waiting in the wings to take the FF on their next fantastic voyage is the new creative team of writer Jonathan Hickman and artist Dale Eaglesham(Former artist of JSA).
