Marvel Comics sucked hord in 2007

Killing Captain America was an obvious marketing ploy and nothing more.

World War Hulk was utter garbage and the ending was the biggest cop-out I’ve ever seen in my life.

Annihilation II sucks and is nothing but a rehash of the first with none of the good parts and all of the bad.

The X-Titles had 1 useless crossover in Endangered Species lead into another useless crossover in Messiah Complex which forced you to read every X-title or get lost in the storyline.

Don’t even get me started on this “Back in Black” or “One More Day” garbage.
Spider-Man titles have been a joke for years so no surprise there.

It takes 10 months to release 6 issues of Mighty Avengers over what could (and should) have been a 3 to 4 part storyline at the most.

Astonishing X-Men 24 should be released any month now.

2007 has to be the worst year Marvel’s had since the mid-90’s. And with this idiotic Skrull invasion storyline coming up for 2008 (Bendis should stick to Ultimate Spider-Man and… Ultimate Spider-Man) there’s no light at the end of this tunnel. Marvel Comics is an absolute trainwreck.

So glad to see you’re being forced to read these

i feel your pain

what about the new warriors did that ever get good
i only got three issues

i know that silver surfer comic was boring
and that annilation stuff just need to quit will never scratch the surface of any infinity gauntlet series
cosmic activity in marvel just blows now i need some thanos on some destroy the universe including earth

and the illuminati psst toying around with the infinity gems ,For Shame…

i miss dreamwave comics, they were the bomb

then again dreamwave could never finsih a series unless it was only 6 issues

but you gotta admit world war hulk was ill,i mean what you expect
i felt that it was kinda cool how he was gonna kill everybody and then stopped
proving that it was basicly all over for them

i’m guessing its the last fight that through you off

as for captain, again what are you gonna do,i cant see cap killing iron man
but if he had could of led to something better

so you say the skrulls are coming back that not even worth mentioning
and messiah complex cant be that bad
i mean you had to collect every issue like that in x-cutioners song

i dont care just bring me agent x dang it

to be honest it could of been placed in the marvel thread.

But at least Claremont’s Exiles and New Excalibur kicked ass so HORD… that the next Bison WHANNABE… isgonnafeelit. If only Claremont could have written more Marvels. Then their comics this year wouldn’t have sucked so much. We needed more Joe Mad, less Ed Brubaker.

I don’t think anyone has anything else to say that can top this.

sano, please sticky this thread for all posterity.

LOL I’ll just let this thread run its course. Matrix9280, you should of read Spawn instead. J/K man make sure you bring the hate in '08 and have a good one.

I never got that feeling from the Hulk. That’s the whole point you could never take it seriously. These people kill his wife and unborn child and he does nothing to them but when he finds out the bug killed them he tries to kill him. It’s inconsistent storytelling at its worst.

Compared to Civil War (which wasn’t all that great to be honest) World War Hulk was absolutely terrible.

They don’t call it the bad old days for nothing. I actually feel bad for X-Factor fans. It was a different kind of comic to the other X-Titles and now with Messiah Complex it suddenly becomes just another comic? Come on. Talk about getting screwed.

The Marvel Superheroes have faced menaces such as Onslaught, Galactus, Thanos,Ego, and even themselves. So now next year they’re main threat are skrulls who’ve been beaten too many times to count? Who’ve had their throneworld destroyed by Galactus and Annihilus? You’ve gotta be kidding me. Garbage like that has all but convinced me that Brian Michael Bendis has never read a comic book in his life.

I could have done that. What would likely happen next is I’d catch flack from some mindless drones (I won’t name names but you know who you are) and get called a troll for speaking my mind because heaven forbid anybody criticizing anything in a particular thread. People are looking for any ammunition they can to get me into a situation and I’m not going to give it to them. At least not directly.

It wasn’t all bad for Marvel. As long as Punisher and Daredevil are still at their current levels there’ll at least be something to read from that company. Thunderbolts isn’t terrible either and Astonishing X-Men for all 3 issues that came out this year wasn’t bad.

[*]i see where you are going but do you like anything at all? (EDIT: noticed what you liked)

[*]Im just curious what did you think of the Black Panther story. Im going to assume that you feel as though that marriage was rushed. I wont be suprised at all.

[*]I do agree that marvel has screwed up alot and i mean alot.
[/LIST]

well it looks like hawkeye will be captain america imo. but how are they going to explain his arrival from the dead or did they?

it wasnt that bad but some of the tie ins were terrible especially gamma corps, ant-man, ghost rider which was not needed. I mean why didnt they do tie ins with the fantastic four (well they were teaming up the BP and Storm at the time) and a special tiein with dr strange?

i havent started on part one so i dont know what is going on

Endangered Species is a joke to me forcing people to purchase other books that had nothing to do with the story. Messiah Complex i have no idea i heard completely opposite but who knows.

well the spiderman thread will pretty much sum up that one

ive learned that cho is no longer doing it is the reason why for the delay

dont know what to say about that but now are you going to do “DC comics sucked hord in 2007” too?

I will agree with you that thunderbolts was a good read. I started with the T-Bolts from the civil war arc and kept a couple after but it looks like i need to go back. I did like how namor kicked venom ass though in sub-mariner (now that should continue)

How DID wwh end?

other notes:

Amazing spider-man: bib was the shit. Peter took the gloves off, beat the hell out of wilson fisk. and Sensational was great, but freindly neighborhood was gay. super gay.

new avengers was going strong for a moment but is now going NOWHERE. ( i love hawkeye as ronin)

It was a temporary insanity. He held back when he came back to his senses anyway. The series was good, I don’t know what you’re getting at. Read the thread, the ending to World War Hulk was good compared to the other crossovers that happened.

I just wanted to add something interesting in regards to marvel.

SPOILER ALERT You’ve been warned!!!

Okay if anything the death of Captain America while i didn’t enjoy it how he died i loved the storylines afterwards that developed with the Winter Soldier,Falcon,Sharon Carter, and Black Widow. Plus with today’s Captain America #33, Winter Soldier will be the next Captain America. Pretty sweet if you ask me:lovin:

didn’t like Endangered species too much BUT Messiah Complex has made up for it in Spades. Non-stop action…Cable goin solo against everyone…a brand new X-force.

I was kind of conflicted on World War Hulk i mean on one hand i didn’t like the fact that certain uber powerful characters were getting beasted by hulk’s warbound. But some of the fights like Sentry vs. Hulk and Strange vs. the Hulk was good.

I’m a little hesistant on Secret Invasion. I mean the story has some promise IF done right. Just hope they don’t fucking pull a copout like Civil War.

Then there’s Spiderman…sigh…i’m done with that comic. If anything i want to see how his deal with the devil effects his status with the New Avengers crossover.

That brings up another problem that I have with Marvel Comics. Continuity is essentially non-existant. How is Spider-Man attacking Kingpin in a jail cell when Daredevil (as Matt Murdock) had him released from prison earlier in the year? It’s like these writers are too ignorant to notice the flaws in the storyline or too arrogant to care. As an avid comic fan for many years I find such disrespect for the medium (and ultimately the fans) to be utterly outrageous.

Brave and the Bold, Paul Dini’s Detective Comics, and Sinestro Corps were too good. I couldn’t be honest if I made that thread.

P.S The Black Panther- Storm storyline was fine. I like that they’ve stuck with it. It would have been to easy to make it a temporary deal. In spite of Joe Quesada’s best (or worst) efforts Marvel can actually put out quality storylines. The problem is that lately they’re getting fewer and farther between.

that had more to do with delayed shipping. Daredevil released him after that ass whipping.

matrix should’ve read Cable & Deadpool, that at least could’ve been the only good thing in 07 (mind you I haven’t read ANY of 07’s comics and haven’t started C&D yet, but hey I’m a DP fan, gotta spread the love, check my sig even)

I don’t think the 'trixy would like C&D. Didn’t he say once that he wasn’t down with that “silly nonsense” or something to that effect? What can we say? The 'trixy just drinks a different brand of Hatorade from the rest of us.

Messiah Complex as absolutely fantastic. End of story.

I don’t hate Marvel Comics. I’m just a longtime fan who’s incredibly dissapointed in the trends that I’ve seen from the company over the years. In 2007 it just seems much worse than usual.

You may be fine with slipshod creative efforts from so-called creative talents who couldn’t care less about the characters let alone the comic book medium but I’m not and I’m going to say something about it.
