Funny how you pretty much straight-up agree with us right there about us saying that BET viewers are so stupid that they wouldn’t be able to handle a show done in good taste, yet go on to further bitch. Teach me your ways, plz. They intrigue me…
Baseless? How is it baseless to say that 1) BET viewers are stupid and that 2) their shows appeal to stupid people, when both of these are statistically proven facts? Baseless is coming onto this forum then bitching about people calling stupid shit just that. Stupid shit.
Black Panther is an intelligent character. BET viewers are not intelligent. They won’t mix well.
King Booker and Lamewadd - This isn’t a race thread or a name calling thread, so let’s keep it that way, to the best of our abilities. Talk about Hudlin, BP, just relate it to something other than calling people out because this thread can go south really fast.
All I’m gonna say is if you’ve ever read a single issue of Black Panther you know where Hudlin is coming from. Doom who formerly was in love with Storm automatically started mouthing off things like “I always thought Blacks were better in sports than with science,” kind of along the lines of what a white person in the sports field said once and got in trouble for it. When Storm and Black Panther showed up in Africa, the Latverians were freaked out because they’ve never seen Black people before. That’s Hudlin’s Black Panther.
Hudlin’s gone on record as saying things like “Continuity is only for white people who can’t stand a powerful African American character” and “Reading comic books in stores is a white person only privelege.” Does he say these things because he believes it’s what his audience wants to hear or does he really mean them? At the very least Boondocks is suggesting the former, not the later. I can’t say I know the truth of the matter, because I don’t know him personally or anything.
I know he has fans on this forum so no hate or anything. It just ends with me not reading Black Panther and that’s kind of it. The audience for the book he’s targetting is obviously not me. People who care about continuity and know things like Doctor Doom is in love with Storm. And yeah I’m Latino… On another note, I have seen just about every race you can think of reading comic books in stores for free, heck I’ve even done it (so long as it’s not wednesday or something, some places are against that because it’s new book day). Though I dunno there are more racially charged areas out there, can’t say I’ve been in every comic shop in the US or anything like that.
I won’t be messing with Hudlin’s BP cartoon. But who knows, if it lasts longer than a season I may check it out on DVD or something down the road. I can’t blindly predict exactly how the cartoon will be crafted afterall. I’m just not going to support it by watching it at this time.
We could even have a Curtis Mayfield-like soundtrack! Can’t you hear the “Superfly” theme remixed by 9th Wonder as Luke slaps Doom in his face and calls him a “Jive-Ass Turkey” :wgrin:
…though I can’t lie…I would GLADLY sit still for thirty minutes just to see that scene properly executed.
Seriously, I grew up reading old comics…Black Panther, Power Man & Iron Fist stuff from the 60s and 70s- not because I was around back then, but because they were cheap- and I would kill to see a Power Man & Iron Fist cartoon, old school style. Like instead of trying to make it modern, they just go overboard with the 70s vibe.
:shake: are you serious? So now I get it, a few lines that was stated then suddenly the writing is racist? It is only racist if you allow it but if you want to be caught up on your ass then go ahead. The one line BP father said in the first arc was controverisial true but dont try to act like that lines like that wasnt done before. BP was demonstrating how proud he was because he is a King of a nation that has something that people want. I think that qualfies a man to say what the hell he wants but hey i guess it was racist. I read the book and yes he goes a bit overboard but at the same time if im not mistaken guggenheim has done it with his line comparing the burning cross and sentinels when wolverine was having a conversation with Luke cage. Was that racist too?
And what are you doing?
I dont agree with that statement all the way but I can understand in sense where he comes from. True one would see a few blacks or latino here or there but at times from my experiences it almost as if I would be the only minority in there and i live in baltimore:looney: But anyway all one has to do is wait and see what happens with the show.
I dont even know what Panther’s father said, I wasn’t referring to that.
I’d have to read the guggenheim stuff.
I was referring to Doom, and a couple of the CW issues.
CW Black Panter was fucking horrid.
Hudlin likes to demonise people( Too strong a word, but you know what i mean) in order to make Panther seem better. It’s sad coming from the writer, and it’s sad people eat it up.
Doom suddenly talking about Africans being a superior physical specimen even if lacking in the mental department (paraphrasing) even when Doom knows Panther is a genius level intellect, and logic dictates Doom wouldnt give a fuck about skin colour.
Beating the Silver Surfer by holding him in a headlock:rolleyes:
Okay let this be the final word on this private battle between you and King Booker. Because I’m just gonna delete the rest of this back and forth and hand out infractions when necessary if this keeps going on. If you wish to continue, PM each other because further responses are getting flushed down the toilet and no one will read it anyway. Move on, move on. Let’s end on a funny Spike Lee note.
Doom would be enough of an arrogant asshole to say something like that out of his mouth lets be real. Matter of fact he was calling Ms Marvel a cow throughout Mighty Avengers #11
Now regarding the headlock to surfer uh Mcduffie did this in the new fantastic four book at the time just right after the CW tieins of FF.
Now the guggenheim thing pick up on the cw tiein wolvie clearly states it.
It is pretty clear that you havent picked up the book at all or probably havent picked up the book when Priest was writing it in the past.
I agree about Hudlin but also any writer that doesnt have alot of comic experience shouldnt that includes writers who had written crappy tv shows or movies in the past
Agreed but I will see what Jason Aaron will do with issues 39-41.
My mistake. I dont pick up FF, and never will. The only FF books I have are the X-Men crossover, where Kitty Pride is dying after the Morlock Massacre.
Just knew BP had taken surfer in a headlock. Assumed it was from BP series.
I have read BP. Not stupid enough to actually pay for Hudlin’s.
Panther is one of the few characters I’m interested in regardless of writer, much like deadpool. Still, I’m not pikcing up anything that has daniel way’s name on it.
I get what you’re saying, since Priest was so much better, people will auto-hate on Hudlin, and I’m sure there’s people like that.
Fact remains, he’s a shitty writer. Give BP to Warren Ellis, put it on Marvel Knights (if the label still has meaning) and I’ll be first in line not only to buy it, but denounce Priest’s Panter without having read Elliss’
