oh, shut that shit up.
pick them please, and i will still mash your fucking head in. yeah mags is strong when you know how to use him, and he will die faster than you thought when someone puts hands on him, because anyone just picking this game up with little experience in the vs genre and for the most part just got into fg’s again from sf4, wont be able to do anything with any of those characters except mash assist and rocket punch. serious about the game in what fashion? so someone cant be serious about marvel because they dont play top tiers? pffft. the only benefit you get out of playing top tiers is saying you play them. there are no golden gates for you. there is no huge cash payout. there are no sanfords, wongs, executioners, waiting to hug you and welcome you to the club. its most likely a pit of firey hell. lol!
whatever, im not gonna get into this debate again. pick who you want, but im sure you new players who just lurk a lot who have been playing team scrub, have felt the pain when someone like me comes in and murders you in 17 seconds with a pure low tier team because you just dont know how to play. im just a top tier hater of sorts. i love watching yipes play msp, and thats about it. oh, i like a good iron man and war machine. iron man is forever cheese, but i just like watching the refly shenanigans. other than that everyone else can suck a dick. random ass top tier marvel. bleh. im drinking hatorade all day, son! :bottle:
before some people get their panties in an uproar. i aint taking no shots. just light hearted top tier raging. so calm down. especially online, there are more than enough matches to please the low/mid in some peoples hearts, and a few rooms where people think theyre good because they can refly with sent, do iron mans infinite, run away forever with storm and throw out random tornados to hail storm, or spam that invincible ass psylocke anti air for magz to rape you with. shout out to biggest stunnah. he low tiered his first two and used his crutch sent, and i fucked him up. then picked team scrub, and i fucked him up again with my low tier team. ha ha. that was my revenge for that off day i had when he got me 3 matches. i will say no more.
starting out and learning how to play the game with high tiers and getting fucked up is better than getting fucked up with low tier characters. people only play like 6-7 characters in marvel tourneys for a reason. if your starting out you might want to put good characters on your team, or at least have a good team dynamic. its like if you were teaching someone 3s which character would you recommend most? Ken? or Ibuki?
im not saying that people starting out should play MSP and expect to get good fast just because they picked that team, but it wouldnt be recommended to pick mid/low tier characters and get fucked up by some good MSP. its just gonna make it that much harder to get good at this game.
don’t even try with him…we had a whole thread for this. just move along :P.
obviously it may make only a small difference at first, but someone wanting to really get good at this game at it’s highest form will benefit from what MMDS said.
I was gonna reply to his post and tear him a new one, but then i read your post and i’m sure people already argued with him enough. Especially after this quote in his post
what an idiot, you think its a random coincidence that the big 4 win every tourney for the past 8 years? I first hand experienced low tier not working against top tier at evo 2k8 where I made top 8, then used low tier like an idiot thinking i could win, then got raped.
define getting good at this game. define that for me please. please do.
calm down, asshole. smile! no i dont think its a coincidence, but did i say you could win big marvel tournies with low tiers. no i didnt. i just blindly hated on top tiers. thats all. smile, baby, smile. lol! niggaz get so aggy over marvel. its so funny. shout out the srk’ers, i aint gonna name no names, who got they team scrubs and santhraxes fucked up by my low tier team today. LOL, SHITS SO FUNNY. no one will ever win a marvel tourney with low tiers, and no one has ever said they could, but im not gonna get aggy over your post, because your just being to serious right now. i need you to breathe for a second, sir, and shut up.
im just playing devils advocate and saying you can have a lot of fun with marvel outside of the top tiers. these new assholes, no offense (jk), will have zero chance making top 8 at any evo, sb, ec, ect…, unless the og’s just stop playing. so pick who you want and have fun, i just dont wanna hurt no new players feelings when i run through their santhrax to the point that i get messaged like i did today, calling me cheap.
MOTHERFUCKER YOU’RE PLAYING SANTHRAX! you thought you were okay because you were all playing top tiers, having close matches, mashing stupid shit, until i came in knowing how to out play your dumb ass. im just saying, low and mid tiers are still a lot of fun, , but dont have a steep execution curve either. no reflys, roms, ect… although really those arent hard, but for some it may be. its a bit of a task to tackle when new. my team is very simple to be good with, and it fucks people up, and is an okay battle if i have a good day against very good players
mmds, i love you. lol
You had to throw that in.
lets play first to 5, ill start psylocke point, lets see what you can do
it just so happens to fit the argument. Purely coincidence.
And lol at jimmy thinking I am too serious. I am probably the least serious person taken on srk. A pro msp player with the santhrax avatar
got that amtrax! its santhrax, jimmy. GOT DAT AMTRAX! its all good. um, yo, im online for another few before i dip, and no router for me. i played my marvel earlier, but since you aggy and got something to prove for some reason. ill hit you up tomorrow. lol. psylocke point, and… i guess we will find out tomorrow wont we. hype!!
aieastoneyboyz add me,
i am seeing alot of rants, i hope i can get some help here. i am kinda new, i wanna know super jump tri jump vs normal jump tri jump, is it even worth using normal jump? if i just want an over head is normal jump good enough? is this a case where i should be comfortable with both? of sj tri jump will always be better? also on assist cross up which way do i block? the side the point is or the assist? 1 more thing i see good MSP players go for tri jump and instead of going for overhead they go back low, but every time i try this with storm i still get an air attack. if someone can help me with these things that would be great.
I am assuming you’re using psylocke. Normal jump tri jump (NJTJ) and super jump tri jump (SJTJ) are both good in their own ways.
You want to use SJTJ when you are coming down and your opponent is waiting for you to land. You have to bait out their move and jump and land safely. Or you can use it to build meter. Jump fp, psy shot, repeat 2 or 3 times. Its also great to avoid getting chipped like dr doom. You can always use it to stay above them. I usually save 1 jump for landing just in case I know they want to cross me when I land.
You want to use NJTJ when you throw projectiles at them while they are on the bottom half of the screen (ie, not in sj). And remember, after you use a move, you can double jump to gain block again because you only get 1 move per jump and lose the ability to block. Or its also effective when you want to cross them so you can jump, call assist, and double jump over them just to start the trap or cross ups. This is good for strider with doom.
Always block the point character no matter what else is on the screen. If he is on your right, you press left and vice versa. Assists and projectiles don’t matter.
I am guessing you are talking about people that dash down, whiff a move to make it seem like they are gonna go high, but they really go low again. If so, its pretty simple. There are 2 ways. You can normal jump up, dash down and press fp and it will whiff 99% of the time unless you have Godlike speed. If you super jump, same thing, always whiff with fp. The reason is because fp takes the longest to come out so it gives you better chances of whiffing.
thanks for the quick reply. the last one about the assist and the whiff to low will help me alot.
i still dont get how to do the 5 fierce combo i lauch the enymy super jum addf but cant get em with the hk
after a launcher you do a HP, then addf, after the addf you do a HP then HK right after, then another HK or downHK when you hit the ground.
Thank you so much for this thread i am going to try to read all of it before I post questions. The thing is I am playing marvel FOR THE FIRST Time and it’s like everyone is allready good at the game i don’t even have a concept of the movelist and things and this looks really helpful.
I am not a mod in these forums so for people PMing me saying I should be a mod because of my helpful contribution, its not up to me. They made magnetro and a few others a mod here. Its up to Mr. Wiz on that.
ok I read everything and tried playing. For several hours. The first thing is WHERE IS medium kick ? when I look online and look at youtube. I see people talking about medium kick and things of that nature. To my knowlwege they’re is only 4 buttons LP, Hp, lk,hk, Assit 1 and Assit 2 also I don’t understand how people are just doing specials like that in the air. I tried the special on the ground worked fine 10/10 times I tried the same special in the air no thing happened. :\ Also how are people getting knocked in the air and just getten beaten up like that. I was trying to figure out what launches people. Next if you can only link hard punch to hard kick how are people kicking people for like 60 hits ?
Medium strength attacks are accessed by chaining into them using the LP/LK buttons. Pressing LP LK LP LK results in a chain of jab (LP), short (LK), strong (MP), forward (MK), for example. Not every character is capable of the same chain sequences, so sometimes you have to get to MP/MK in different ways. Some characters can full chain as above, while with some characters you’ll have to press LP LP for jab (LP), strong (MP) or LK LK for short (LK), forward (MK). After chaining all the way up to the medium strength attacks, that’s when you either chain to heavy attacks, or tack on specials/supers. Sometimes you can extend chains by linking more light/medium strength attacks but that’s getting ahead of ourselves.
Air specials are just practice. Launchers are character-dependent, but usually crouching HP or HK, or down-forward + certain buttons, is a good place to look. Hold up or up-forward just as they hit to insure you super jump with the enemy as the attack hits.
Way back when the game was first out, the first character I learned to do actual useful combos with was Cammy. Her combos are mostly easy and they’ll teach you how the parts of the game come together. Do crouching LK, crouching MK, crouching HP, then immediately hold up-forward to superjump after the hit. In midair, do the chain as described above (press LP LK LP LK…or try a 3-hit chain of LK LP LK for more consistent midair positioning) then quarter circle forward + HK (Cannon Drill) canceled into (xx) quarter circle backward + both punches (Killer Bee Assault). After this combo, you can dash in and OTG (off-the-ground) them with crouching LK, crouching HP into another air combo, though they can also roll. This sets up a mind game though…do you dash in and try to OTG, or wait for the roll and do something confusing to them when they come out of it?
That’s just an example of one character’s basic air combo, but most characters have combos that are constructed similarly. Jill, for example…crouching LK, crouching MK, crouching HP launcher, superjump LP LK MP MK xx QCF + HP dashing fireball thing xx QCF + PP dashing fireball thing super. Or Colossus…jumping HK, standing HK launcher, superjump LP MP MK xx QCF + LK tackle xx QCF + PP divebomb super (then immediately press down + any button).
Once you decide which characters you like, you’ll be able to find more specific examples in those characters’ sub-forums, or in the team helping thread.
