Marvel 101 (MvC2 ---> Newbies)

to help stop infinites, capcom added that in.

Not sure if its been posted but, How does Mag/Sent/Clops fair against some of the other top teams like MSS, MSP , Thrax etc… ?

I hardly see people with this team.

So I have been learning MvC2 with Sim/Storm/SonSon.

Better to learn with lower level people (besides Storm) or should I just go to a MSP, Thrax or whatever other teams are out there? To learn that is. I will be finding a low tier team after I learn Mahvel.

That team is pretty good. I suggest you get Magnetro’s DVD(pm him if u can’t find it) tut on Sim, if you want to see how crazy he is. Sim is REALLY hard to pick up and play tho.

Best team to pick and play, would be team scrub( cable/sent/capcom).

Thanks!

I actually have watched Magnetro’s dvd a couple times and get confused at parts. I kinda wish he would list what buttons he is using. Marvel is still hella fast for me.

I agree Scrub is best starter team imo

pssh, there are no more easy mode teams in marvel. I don’t know why people say cable is the easiest character to pick. yea, scrubs will be able to do his stuff but whats the purpose if you don’t know how to block, assist layers, meter management, proper spacing vs every character in the game.

I wasn’t looking for an “easy mode” team

I was looking for a team that will help me learn all that you said. Team Scrub looks like a team that helps you learn all of that. But I may just stick with my team.

well, if what you’re looking for is an understanding of the game, then you can pick any team you want as long as it has good team chemistry. Any team will teach you those concepts but the better your team is, the easier it is to accomplish.

dhalsim in this game is very hard to play as. Difficult combo, his normals change depending on the range, he takes damage bad. Even pro’s can’t really harness the true power of dhalsim just yet and I’m willing to bet it will be years before we see a dominant sim player getting perfects which he is highly capable of. I’m not saying don’t play sim, just be aware of the road before you walk down it.

your sim team is “ok” compared to the others. If you’re gonna stick with sim, play sim\sent on rocket punch\cyke or sim\IM\sent.

No matter what team you pick, you’ll have to put in huge amounts of work.

true i myself Started with Guile Cable Tron…but once I picked up Scrub I thought “wow” this is a really good starter team

Thanks for the feedback!

Now you have intrigued me and I am tempted to master Sim. May try both those teams.

One question though is why should Sent by on Rocket Punch?

I can’t recall what assist sent should be using on sim\IM\sent but when you play sim\sent RP\cyke, there are 2 reasons that stand out to me. The first one is the block stun you get off of the RP is HUGE. It allows for sims mixups to take place and if he lands one, its game over. Secondly, assist damage. Sim has a very good keep away game because of his normals and since they’re so long, he can poke assist+RP from pretty far away to punish helpers.

Looks like a team that I will have to try out for sure.

One thing puzzles me about all these guides. You guys state there are medium moves. Yet the game only has light moves, heavy moves and assists. So, where and how do you perform the medium moves?

The mediums come out on the second press of the light button, but only if you’re connecting your jab or short with the opponent, even if they are blocking.

Hey I wanted to know what are the mostly used joysticks in mvc2. I heard HAPP 360 and I also heard il eurojoystick. I know most of them use like mass sticks, but I don’t care about anything like the buttons and the box just the joystick itself.???

Happ joysticks usually, such as Competition and Ultimate joysticks. Right now, I’m using a Super joystick in my MAS. You can also use Perfect 360 Optical joysticks, but I prefer 8-ways myself. It’s just a preference thing, I’m sure.

I don’t recommend Japanese/Korean joysticks due to the lack of rebounding back to neutral, which the Happ/American bat sticks have.

How powerful is Akuma in this game? Never got around to unlocking him.

Dies from one combo.

hes a strong motherfucker, and he has a good sj fp:rofl:
