Arcade cabinets are the OPPOSITE of “uniform control.” Having different buttons, different sticks, sticks that have been broken in at different levels…
Match that with different types of cabs (Stand up/sit down, switch/360s, wider with more space/small and cramped/head to head) and games that run on different speed than the console versions everybody has been practicing on outside of tournament. Even if you practice on an arcade cab, you could literally be the master of your local arcade, then go to another arcade and not be able to do half of the stuff you can do at home, because of a different cab/control setup.
Oh yeah, and also factor in that arcade cabs break on a regular basis.
If anything, CONSOLE gives you the most uniform experience. Everybody plays on a level playing field because you use YOUR OWN JOYSTICK that you’re used to playing on EVERYWHERE. If you don’t own your own stick or aren’t used to it, thats your own fault, so there are no excuses and nobody to blame but yourself. Also, consoles are super easy to get, as are copies of SF games, and you can CHANGE each station to any game you want between tournaments…instead of being extremely limited to only a few dedicated setups of each game that cannot easily be changed around.
Trust me from experience: Consoles are 90% of the time a much better experience than an all-arcade event. The only exception is if you actually have a local arcade to play at…so that makes about 4% of total SF players in this day and age.
Phil: Just because your pro console and all the pro console players want an all console event how is that fair to people like me and Larry that likes Arcades. I despise console but guess what I deal with it. You noted some issues with Arcades but please lets not act like console is perfect here…

Anyway FR9 was my first and I enjoyed it. I am definetly gonna try every way possible to return next year. Mopping 2nd in every game I played except 3S and 3rd in NGBC Im looking to run it back and NOT lose to Justin in every tournament this time…
Either way I had alot of fun. Personally I would love it if Vampire Savior and Hyper Fighting make it to FR. Then I’ll be sold!

Holy shit, I need to log in on SRK more than 3 times a year. I’m so excited about this shit. All the Tennessee players will be down, no doubt. I’d also like to offer up our DVD-R’s for recording matches. (we have 2) and any help with equipment or anything we can do to support the scene. Can’t wait for some SuperTurbo. Ok, I will try to slide ngbc in FRX. Remember the rules though. No multi button setups. I don’t care what the default button setup are I want it to be as close to arcade setup as possible. So that means you should only have light kick, light punch, hard punch, hard kick as your controller settings.
