Man commits suicide, leaves website behind detailing everything

I disagree. There is a certain minimum quality of life humans should have to make it all worthwhile. Once you go below that, there is little point to it all and it becomes a mockery.

Ex: When you’re permanently disabled or hindered in some fashion and can’t do things under your own power, not even wipe your own ass, then yeah…it might be time to hang it up.

Its all about quality of life. Living for the sake of living is just is not that important on its own. Not if its going to be spent being miserable, lacking so much, and without dignity.

Now there are some people out there who indeed live out their whole lives with severe issues, being blinded, crippled in accidents, savagely disfigured, etc. All i can say to that is…they wouldn’t be the first out there to settle for a mediocre existence so far below that of what human life should be. That doesn’t mean everyone else in that situation has to do so as well.

I would be content with nature and fate taking it’s course and not forcefully offing myself. To each his own.

Men are better cooks, we just send women to the kitchen to practice and get on our level. A sandwich is usually the first trial.

did you seriously think that i believe “living for the sake of living” is a good reason that outweighs a reason to die? i did not say that. nor do i think anyone should live for the sake of living. one must have a high goal, that’s what i think. and a meaningful one at that.
if you look at the highest positions in society, you’ll find the people up there are ones who rely on their minds, and not many on their physical abilities. your worth does not cease to exist when your senses or motor functions do. there is more you can do than what you limit yourself to, and if you go the distance, you’ll be remembered by more people than your next of kin after your death and your life’ll be not-so-mediocre.

^^ Such an egotistic take on things. Some of us don’t give a damn about being “remembered” and “greater worth” or high positions. I mean, if we get those things in the process, then so much the better.

I guess i’m a simple person with simple desires, but I just want to lead a happy and fulfilling life with my goals achieved, and be able to fully enjoy it all.

Couldn’t care less if millions remember me or know who i am after i’m gone.

Stop biting off of Battle Angel Alita faggots.

“get those things in the process”…? when did life achievements become take away chinese food?

In 3 months, only a webhosting company will remember him. We’ll have moved on and forgotten him cuz…you know…life and all. Immortality isn’t a bad goal…you just actually have to be around to collect. Dying defeats the purpose, imo. The right way to do it is to be alive, not remembered. Immortality via rememberance is for hardcore attention-whores.

This is true, but…

Outside of religion ( :coffee: ) where we go after death is a mystery. If you prefer to dead be my guest, but you may or may not like what happens to you down the road. I for one like to be sure on what happens when crucial decisions are being made.

Since non-religious people don’t know what happens after death, they shouldn’t object to the privilege of life. It might be the best gift/ opportunity they’ll ever get. Period.

I’m pretty sure religious people don’t know what happens after death either.

"Life is a sham and death is the only sincerity"
This is a sentence that talked me out of suicide at age 17.

It was written in a samurai-code book, possibly Hagakure, I can’t remember.

As much as it sounds pro-suicide, the meaning behind it was that if you were fortunate enough to find yourself in a position where your life didn’t matter, the important thing was that you were aware that other people still considered life important, and if you were willing to throw away your own life, the best way to do it was to dedicate it to someone else. This was the way of the Samurai, the reason they dedicated themselves to one master, and as a 21st century teenager it still rang true.

If you ever feel the need to throw your life away, there’s alot of people out there, who still deem life important, that could really benefit from your life, whether it’s just talking to them, helping them out, volunteering, joining an emergency service/armed force, it may mean fuck all to you, but to them it’ll mean the world, and you’ll slowly begin to appreciate the things worth sticking around for.

Sorry for putting a serious stamp on this, I think the man was wrong to so smugly tout suicide like that, there’s another 60 year old out there somewhere that probably needed him. Aged 25 now btw.

Damn, that is some heavy stuff. I gotta say personally I don’t support the act of taking your own life, but I do support the freedom to choose what you do with your life. This is a man who knew what he wanted to do and did it. I’m sure he’ll probably be labeled as depressed by any mass media that covers this; since death itself is mostly viewed in a negative light (especially in cases like these), and people will feel the need to perpetuate this as a poor choice. As depressing as this is I can’t help respecting his decision.

This man writes with so much Pride, I wouldn’t be surprised if he was hurting on the inside. Sad, we’ll never know.

Stuff like this is why I try to be nice to everyone, who knows, could be talking them out of doing something they can’t undo.

You know what i meant. Taking care of my own stuff and goals, and if i can help impact others positively along the way? Cool but its not my primary objective.

Again, all this grandiose shit you talked about earlier like making an impact and being remembered by many? Plenty of decent people out there lived and died and are NOT remembered for the most part, nor made a lasting impact. Nothing wrong with that, what matters is if they got to lead a fulfilled life that was worth a damn. That they got what they wanted and didn’t die sad failures with their regrets outnumbering their accomplishments.

Which is what i’m trying to do. 40 years from now if only my kids and a few friends ever knew it existed, that’s good enough for me.

Why you apostrophe ain’t but not niggas? Mebbe yous a racist?

surprised by some of these comments.

i read the initial page, and why 60. from those two he clearly seemed like a practical man, who in his words didnt want to deal with the inevitable financial collapse of america, invested in gold and silver in 1998, had been through 2 divorces, didnt want to waste money on life insurance or inevitable future illnesses that would take away his hard earned money that he would rather share, and a few other practical reasons.

he seemed very much pragmatic about the whole thing, and wanted to rather give what he had left financially before living took it away from him. also he definitely was very self sufficient, mentioned that he didnt want to depend on anyone, so his pride also seemed to lead him to this path.

i dont know how many of you actually read more than a paragraph of this, but the guy sounds like a prideful, possible paranoid old guy who realized for him personally he’s done enough on this planet and he would rather give all he has before its taken one way or another.

what can i say, he ran out of steam and said fuck it. shit happens. im sure once all you young terds turn 60, you will suffer from severe depression, health issues galore, and be wondering why that star trek tech was never created so you could live to be 400 but look 30, and why you havent jumped off a fucking bridge yet. lol

niggas on srk who cant handle basic life issues like relationships, shoryuken motions, losing online, making friends, losing weight, etc… are criticizing a man who went hard from the early 50s to 2013 and decided that hes burned out and would rather his family and friends who want to and or are going to live on take advantage of all that he has built up over time.

this is one of those suicides where i say, “okay, i see what you did there, i miss you and respect your decision”.

Then you have not the slightest clue in what I’m talking about and shouldn’t waste your own time in formulating a response. Smh.

If some of you cunts would actually read these articles instead of just going ham off the topic title you would see this guys whole ideology was to control his death instead of wait for it. Unfortunate because he SEEMED like an intellegent and witty guy. Oh well. R.i.p. old fella.

QUOTE from the letter:

Too good.

Leave it to SRK to take such a sensitive subject and forcefully cram it full of win.
