lol agree. I went into training mode with Makoto and notice this too with her grabs.

I notice both her dashes have delay as well but that is for another topic.

Back in the old days I use to say this sort of thing.
People are not talking about how you use her in this topic but rather the tools you have to work with.

She looking like she has limited tools to work with especially against good players.

I mean you can use Sakura really well but her tools are not good in general.

It’s fact, not an excuse. I can still net wins with her and still think she’s usable in this game. However, that doesn’t mean Capcom didn’t fuck her over.

Looking at these hitboxes it does have the flavour of intentional low quality to much of her moveset. T-rex arm calibur range on ex kara is particularly egregious. It’s not like she’s poor in sort of circumstantial ways like some other low characters. ie, characters that are low mostly because of limited ability to get around one or more things that top tier has that they do not. This is more objective willfull weakening of specific tools, largely across the board as far as her specials are concerned.

I just hate the idea of a developer balancing a game along an intended tier distribution. The idealist in me would like to think that they’d approach with intent to balance everyone more or less equally without deliberately making particular characters strong or weak relative to others, then let the chips fall where they may in terms of tiers. I’m not asking for universal 5-5 matches, i just don’t want developers approaching things like “We like this character. We want him to be near the top. We don’t like this other character or feel this character fits best at the bottom” and tinkering with movesets from there.

I only have one thing to say about Karakusa; If it was something you could rely on then it would be nothing but broken.
