Like seriously, look at that EX Tatsu hitbox.
He didn’t even dash forward after ex fuki jHP and he still had to block it lol.
Been putting in work on ps4 tryna get my points up.
Good shit. I like the way he plays this matchup. Might not work as well against a Rose like Luffy I’m afraid but heh, this matchup is shitty for a reason.
PS : I’m so mad everytime you finish a combo with Hayate, you feel in a bad position in this game instead of a good one.
Her dash is faster than his shoulder. Also his shoulder seems to push her more than the dash pushes him back. The dash is invisible, but it’s there.
Makoto Focus absorbs cmk then
Makoto dashes and Yun uses shoulder then
karakusa ex goes faster than the 1st shoulder hitting frame
But… She isn’t dashing…I don’t see ANY dashing frames animation there. She seems to armor cancel the focus into EX Karakusa, which makes no sense.
Nevermind, put the video on 0.25 speed you can see the dash. Pretty crazy.
I miss parrys!
Misse vs -R- ( Boxer )
Last match of Misse in this Topanga ranking battle, close one.
-R- plays this very well I think. Slowly walking back / forward near Makoto dashing range is the most annoying thing you can do for a Mak player imo.
Reminds me of Haitani’s match against Mago back during TGS 2013 Grand Finals when Haitani focus absorbed a cr.MP, then blew through the 1st Rekka with EX Karakusa. I also remember that I lost my shit when I saw that.

misse took a risk at the end and it didn’t pay off! that’s ok, as that is the nature of the character… they both played a great game.
I feel Misse pushes too many buttons that wont hit. Even if it’s far and wont be punished, i don’t think it helps. It’s part of the zoning game, but he is always moving, showing nearly no change in his rythm.
Why does he go for hayate lp after his shp hc smp smp ? I am not a fan of lp hayate lvl 2. hayate mp gives you a better field advantage.
I feel like he has been practicing max damage combos. lvl 2 LP hayate after stMP is like a bit more damage than a MP Hayate and same advantage actually
MP hayate goes further than LP hayate. It means it pushes the opponent in the corner. Damage output is a thing but not everything. That LP hayate charge makes no sense to me. If i had the balls to do such a combo (shp hc smp smp), i would go for fuki ex everytime (such normals will give you the needed ex nearly everytime)
I dont get why Makoto feels the urge to attack everytime. Does Boxer have fireballs ? Ok he has faster normals than Makoto, but their range is worse. Boxer plays the counter game, he lets Misse show all his gimmicks, making them easier to understand and counter. He plays the patience game while our girl rushes or mashes footsies. Why would Boxer attack ? I’d really love to see a timeout in Makoto’s favor when Misse is playing, but he seems he has no time.
yeah but there are times he could have gone into ex fuki and he didn’t, and I feel like that ex fuki should always be the goal after karakusa in ultra.
his hc ability is impressive but overall use inefficient! there are times where it’s not needed (opponent near dizzy or death) and there are times where it builds enough meter for ex fuki yet he doesn’t use it.

PS : I’m so mad everytime you finish a combo with Hayate, you feel in a bad position in this game instead of a good one.
This and a worst karakusa are the biggest why 3s Makoto is her best version. The FADC system and the invincible backdash makes the Hayate post game pretty useless since the opponent has at least two invincible ways to avoid the pressure. With meter doing a reversal isn’t risky, so why blocking and get grabbed by Makoto? Put the opponent in guess is all on the Makoto player now, land a meterless hayate don’t give us any advantage. Capcom was too afraid about making Makoto strong again.

When I see the match I was like: “Da fuq he’s doing?!”. He did it all wrong, especially against Boxer. Balrog don’t need to rush, but he’s looking for some mistakes, mash buttons without pushing him in the corner is useless. Meterless hayates are useless,Rog can react almost safely with many tools.
Misse is technically a real good Makoto, but he lacks what make every good Makoto player (3s players included) before him has: genius and courage. You can all see that after every EX Fuki combo, he goes for the mixup only if he’s down with health, otherwise he goes for the HK Tsurugi. We all know Haitani could use her better if he’s still with her seriously,Misse is the best remaining Makoto, but isn’t an elite player at Daigo level like Haitani was.
I’d just like to point out the hilarity of picking at Misse’s strategy when he’s the one competing on an international level with a character that’s been all but eviscerated in terms of useful tools in the new Ultra meta. Despite these things we’re saying about him, even Daigo is terrified of Misse’s Makoto, so much so he’d rather have him on his team whenever the opportunity presents itself (Topanga Charity Cup comes to mind).
Someone explained to me that mixing up resets with damage completion is just as much a part of the mind games and opponent training as anything else you do in a match. Resets are there for when your opponent is close to stun, when you need more damage when you’re behind, or when you’ve trained them into expecting something different the entire match up to that point.
By limiting yourself to only EX Fuki after a Karakusa, you deprive yourself of discovering your opponent’s ticks without putting yourself in danger. Sure, Post Hayate situations leave you at less than favorable positions, but it still leaves you in a position to just sit there and block and figure out how the opponent responds to being put in that situation. You can discover if they’re jittery and hit buttons (f+LP frame trap), if they hold up or if they backdash constantly (c.LK OS EX Hayate), if they DP (block), or if they too just sit there and block (Kara-Karakusa). That tells you SO MUCH about how they are as a player and what their mindset is.
Even if you ignore (at your own risk) the “downloading your opponent” aspect of Post Hayate Mix Ups, you’re still presenting them with a bag of things you could do to them that’ll leave them less sure about what you’re going to do next. Every Karakusa is a double mix up between EX Fuki and Hayate and all the follow ups that come with those that they have to mentally adjust to on the fly. In addition to that, it’s just good meter management. Makoto is one of the characters that actually benefits a lot from EX Red Focus combos, which we’ve all seen Misse clutch out a ton of victories with.
Does Misse have room to level up some more? Of course he does, everyone who plays this game is trying to hit that next skill plateau, even the veterans and gods who we admire and cheer for every time they play. I just want to remind everyone that hindsight is 20/20 and given what we’ve seen, Misse has been more successful than not so far. If he had beaten that Balrog instead, we’d be less inclined to criticize his gameplay. In fact, I didn’t even really see him do anything wrong in that Balrog match up. Want to know why Balrog can afford to sit there and wait? Because he’s fucking Balrog. His offense comes from defense because he’s a charge character. The entire onus of starting the offensive was on Misse because charge characters just sit and wait. That’s not something new, that’s every charge character in the entirety of existence. About the worst thing Misse did in those matches was make hard reads that just didn’t pay out, because you actually have to take risks to play Makoto and not just hold downback and hit jab and sweep occasionally.
“a character that’s been all but eviscerated in terms of useful tools in the new Ultra meta”
this I agree with, which makes what misse does all the more impressive! lol, just the fact that he continues to play her is impressive…
