5 makoto teaming (haitani, shiro, etc)
edit:
and this at 56:30, 1:39:00
Who’s the 3rd Mak player in the 1st vid? Great use of your new-found kara Tsurugi, V-Ryu.
In any case, that’s a great example of the Sagat match-up to study. To this day, I still get blown up when I try to force my way in. Gotta slow play that shit and get fight for that position.
In the second vid the round starting at ~1:45:00 is awesome. I think he actually pulls off a “hitakusa” (Blockakusa on hit) which is SO hard to do (at least for me :D) I believe that’s One Chan Tarou. Where did he come from??
Yeah, that guy is impressive!

the first one is good, but the downside is that you completly lose the mixup game. If opponent doesnt reversal shoryu, it’s very easy to know where to block. And you’re outside of karakusa range.
I’m sure we can put it further, and find things which avoids reversals AND still aving mixup (maybe using your trick, with crossup tsurugi, or something). I spent some time in the lab for that, but didnt find anything yet.
What about a third dash temporized with a forward lk ~ hayate cancel ? It’s right that the attack wont be meaty at all. Btw your opponent should be pretty nervous at this moment : you did a crossdown, you did another crossdown which seems like you lost control of your character. Maybe he tried to mash a shoryuken in your first crossdown and it didnt come out. He must be confused, as long as you dont try this reset every time.
What about a kara oroshi after the second crossdown ? I have never seen any use of kara oroshi, i was wondering if it’s part of a setup. I’ll try other things tonight.
Thanks for your help and analizis.
Nice one in the first video. I would follow up with Tsugri -> s.HP -> HC -> Karakara to get a command grab if you really wanted one. That reset, so far, has not failed me. And if you apply it after that setup, I doubt any smart opponent will be mashing reversal.
you seem to be out of range of lights. Did you try to use MP Oroshi (for example) after the second dash?

Hey folks been a little while since I posted here heh, anyhow i need help cleaning up my game play, please lemme know what I should be working on
A lot of jumping, sweeping and random hayateing. I feel like you could be getting some bad habits from online. Never random hayate blanka. He can punish them. Also use U2 in that match up. It’ll keep blanka close cause he can’t have his balls blocked unless he wants to be punished. Same reasoning for ex hayate. Save your meter cause its a free punish against him. Dont be afraid to hit mp on his wakeup. There’s nothing he can really do against it till he has meter. On a side note when he hit u with U2 I seen some weird timing. Can makoto now completely avoid U2 by jumping the first hit the plink tsurugi the second one?
I am too far. Maybe a kara horoshi, but that becomes totally impossible to do for me. Maybe karakakusa, i’ll try.
hehehe…
Anyways, you can punish blocked balls with HP Hayate with reversal timing.
Also, I do not like back dashing against Blanka. Balls on your wake up is a bitch. At least I get blown up by it. This is a character I prefer to turtle and punish.
I agree with TheKaiten, maybe you’re just dusty, but there were a lot of bad habits in there. It’s like you just wanted to get rid of your meter. If you’re going to do a random EX.hayate at least kara it. You also went for EX.oroshi way too often especially when it was obvious he was able to block it. Save your meter for a beefy corner combo. You also go for karakusa WAY too much. You have to make them afraid before you go for karakusa.
Do you have something against tsurugi because it seems to be almost entirely absent from your game. It’s one of her most important tools.
Work on your normals and spacing. You really shouldn’t be pressin f.MP when your in jab range unless you have some sweet counterhit/meaty setup. I don’t think I ever saw you cr.LP, s.LP, cr.LK . In fact, you barely use cr.LK at all. cr.MK is a pretty great button against Blanka. On wakeup it shuts down a lot of his options.
Teehee…
Ya when blanka gets a knockdown there’s not much he can do if we just block on wake up. Sure he could go for lightning pressure or hop mix ups but ultimately he gets put back in a bad situation. The TSURUGI!!! If your jumping when they are on their feet and doing it I can understand. If not then you have to ask yourself 2 things. Am I jumping because he’s weak anti airing and I know it’ll work or am I jumping just cause I want in. Either way she’ll do better on the ground.
>.< Did i do anything right =*(
Haha, chin up! It’s tough love. You’re anti-airing with fukiage which is good, but you still need to start using cr.MK and s.MK when you can’t react with fukiage. You’re at the bait and punish stage of Makoto. Everyone’s been there, you just have to figure out how to add more to your game. It’s good you’re aware of people online loving to abuse reversal, but there are different ways besides block/backdash to bait a reversal. Try using some safe jumps, fake safe jumps, neutral jumps, well timed tsurugis to make them whiff. There’s so much to Makoto that very few people can put a clip on here and get glowing reviews. That’s the beauty of Makoto, there’s so much to learn with her, especially with people like vryu around :D.
honestly, ssf4 makoto is getting overwhelming with all this info…
