You really thought it was too short? I’ve been playing since thursday and i’m only 50% through. Granted I take an assassin’s creed approach and try to find all secrets/save all political prisoners/do all sidequests, riddles, trophey, etc etc etc… and i’m having a pretty good time with it. Just got hit by a ceiling. that’s always good lol.
Vryu knows I"ll record his videos :). He’d have to let me know though because I’d have to get my copy of SFIV back lol. but yeah man i’m itching to see some new footage. Not necessarily just TC 1, i’m just interested in how everyone is playing her…
So I like to divide the cast up between overpowered- twins, fei, etc
frustrating (turtles)- sagat, dhalsim, deejay, etc
and annoying with el fuerte being the number one. but for me, Blanka is a close second

Second video. I would like some comprehensive analysis on if possible (with timestamps if you so choose) This wasnt an official set, nor did we reach an definitive stopping point like 10 games, but I think I was playing pretty good that night and didnt lose bad to this chun. So what can I do better? Final I think is 3-5 (REALLY should have been 4-4)
chun li’s got a target combo in the air, and everytime she was jumping at you, you guard the first one, but not the second
Stop random ex hayate (i saw too much of it ^^)
It’s not black or white in a match : you’re not “full screen” or “close range” … You can add some variation to your game : making little move out of poke range (tsurugi / oroshi …), use crMP OS hayate out of the poke range of chun li … just try to add “unpredictivity” =)
When you jump HP on her, and saw your HP hit, don’t go with a crLP or stand LP … make big punish : jHP > HP > ex oroshi or ex hayate
I haven’t see a lot of meaty setups … crLK (or MK) / MP / tsurugi … add this if you can … Even safe jumps will be a good addition to your game
Stop random ex hayate.
WHAT WAS THIS ULTRA1 full screen near 16:40 !?
use hayate feint too : it can be a very usefull tools ^^
Hope this will help you. Nice game though
No excuse for the ex hayates. But as far as the meaty game goes, chunli is one of those characters that I fear on their wake up because of ex bird. I find myself simply avoiding the situation. Do leagues beat that or should i press them anyway just to show i mean business? Oh, and the full screen ultra was me knowing that i was dead anyway so…why not : )
Try to do neutral jump when she wakes up, if you see EX SBK, then go for tsurugi just like if you were trying to bait Zangieff’s lariat. Go for HK Tsurugi for the knockdown unless you’re near to the corner, which permits you to juggle her, normally with MP Fukiage, then EX Tsurugi
Once she eats that, trust me, she won’t EX SBK at wake up so often
Hey there Mcgowan! Machohko here, can’t wait to play you again sometime! I’ll take up that match analysis challenge!
Before I say anything about the match, a few quick comments…first, I’m probably a below average player, so yeah. Second, apologies for editing, I had a helluva time getting this decent looking, srk wanted to embed every URL I put in here.

I’m gonna be referring to parts of this video in the links below.
Mossad did a lot right in this set, although I don’t recommend trying to fukiage hazanshu
General notes
[]Chun went for three rear spin kicks (the cross up) and you tried to ex karakusa. Fukiage those.
[]Punishing rear spin kick courtesy of the Mossad man
[]Lotta reliance on ex. karakusa in your match around 9 mins in. That range is gonna get nerfed soon, so your grab at 9:38 might not reach!
[]So many hazanshus! You can lvl 1 FA and backdash at the very least, lvl 2 FA on reaction for crumple at the best. Don’t predict! Chun can blow up FAs.
[]Hazanshu punish
[]This chun really started abusing jump-ins around 8 mins in. I know it isn’t great advice, but hey, here we are…anti-air better!
[]GAH! Pretty sure MP fukiage woulda worked at 10:36!
[]Bait those ex spinning birds with really late HK tsurugis, they beat that reversal clean!
[]Learn the range on your jump ins! If you’d used j. HK instead of HP at 7:30 it woulda hit.
[]Gotta learn that corpse hop man. This chun was especially into using ex spinning bird after cross unders, like around 13:14, and again earlier in the set.
[]Good setup for corpse hop
[]Blah, missed fukiage combo at 11:18! If you had done a kara-fukiage (236 LK+HP), that fuki combo woulda worked.
[]GAH! 11:23, grab into nothing! Those are the worst!
[]I’ve been p-linking hard punch lately to make sure that doesn’t happen so much (since I can’t double tap) . I’ve linked it before, I’ll link it again, vesper arcade’s execution tutorial. Goes over p-linking and double tapping:
Vesper Arcade Tutorial
[]Like Kalote said, stop all those ex hayates! Forward dash man! Or forward MP/LK to get your real estate! Even walk forward block works better when projectiles are being spammed.
[]As for the full screen u1…I got three theories:
[]Considering how the next round went (the one at 16:47), it might have been lag.
[]You thought you had u2 somehow? But pushed punches…okay that one is a little thin :)
[]You gave up. Trust me man, I’ve been there before.

[]I gotta address the rounds starting at 16:47. I guess it could be lag, but that round till the end you completely changed your playstyle. Don’t get me wrong, it worked pretty well on this Chun, but if there were more kikokens…I don’t think it woulda worked so well.
[]The chun was spamming hazanshus for meter…not throwing any kikokens at all…I’m a little baffled about the lack of kikokens! If it was lag though, that was bad form (said in a Dustin Hoffman Captain James Hook voice) on the chun’s part…no meter building during lag spikes! Same goes for dash in chokes or oroshis for us.

Some 2012 notes
[]Range on ex. hayate is going to get nerfed soon as PC users get 2012. Start practicing kara-ex hayate. Input is 236 lk+2-3 punches. I recommend using the 3 punch button, as I seem to get a lotta weird hayate cancels if I don’t (probably from negative edge/accidental p-links).

Man that TC1 buff works right into your game!
All that said, you played well man.

Still working at utilizing it in-match, but so far, so we have a few ways to safely charge for lvl 5 Hayate.
U1 > lvl 5 Hayate > release or cancel
HP oroshi > lvl 5 Hayate > release or cancel
Vryu’s setup: lvl 3 focus > backdash > f.HK (the sweep version) > lvl 5 Hayate > release and OS U1
They leave the opponent in a guessing game on their wakeup, where they have to decide to reversal, block, jump or mash light. Vryus setup in particular is safe against shoryukens, the Hayate beats out jumps and lights, and the U1 tags back dashes. If opponent decides to block on wake up, s.LK kara-kara is in range.
Nothing to do with Makoto, but have you guys been watching the last two episodes of excellent adventures?

Man, those guys have been playing good. And its a couple of instances that show some Godlike reactions from Gootecks.
That is all…
Here’s a vid I thought I’d share if anyone hasn’t seen it yet.
Justin wong playing mak around 1:05:26 - http://zh-tw.twitch.tv/eg_jwong/b/302558516
I especially like his use of s. HP to check neutral jumps. He even hayate cancels it and dashes under for mix ups…great stuff.
Coulda sworn I found a stream somewhere where flash metroid was playing mak on PC (zombie mak…meh). Not 2012 of course but still valuable, I do like flash’s all in style (just cause it’s so fun to watch). He Ultra 1ed a few of yang’s dive kicks, which made me smile.
Will make a longer version once I get more clips in!
In fact, I might even do a montage of ALL the Makotos. So if you have any suggestions, clips or whatever that you would like to send me, feel free! If i get LOTS of clips, I will make a gigantic Makoto Montage featuring Makotos from all over the world!. Noob or Pro!
Whoops! I read that this WAS a montage of all makoto players, and not that it is your idea to do that next. I was looking forward to seeing that. I’m sure you have plenty of material on this thread to work with. I can’t wait
Here’s a very early video of me during , my first ranked battle using Makoto, about a month ago. I was a Yun user, and you might be able to guess moments when I divekicked WHILE USING MAKOTO. LOL.
Still no 2012 in the Philippines, but after months of practice, Makoto is my main, Yun is now my alt for problem matchups. Now, I Tsurugi while playing Yun. LOL.
Anyways, my game has changed significantly from this video, namely I use tsurugi into sweep far less often now, and I have mindgames intokarakusa now. Still, I need feedback on my overall playstyle, as I think it’s still the same at the core, despite a higher win ratio now.
Work on your Instant Air Tsurugi and throw out that godly c.mp buffered into Hayate. Also I’d say practice some alternate anti air choices so that you don’t lose due to a safe jump. Keep practicing it is looking really good though!
Shiro posted a 3 hour stream of gameplay including a first to 10 with a high ranked Rufus named Inco. I’d suggest pulling out some band-aids and tissues because frankly it is painful to watch. I only watched the FT10 so far (it is about 30minutes of the total stream.) and Shiro gets demolished winning only 2 sets of the required 10. He also gets "perfect"ed twice (though he manages to get revenge and get 1 perfect of his own.)
Still lots of good info to be gleaned from this I think.
Out of all your tips, the one thing I still haven’t done is improving my IA Tsurugi. I normally do cr MP into Hayate now, as well as c.MK and s.MP for anti-airs, and dash under with the latter a whole lot.
I also need to work on my neutral IA Tsurugi’s in anticipation of 2012.
I wish I had videos of my Mak beasting last Friday. It was miles away from this vid. For example, I take far less random DP’s now, and I don’t botch that safe jump setup I screwed up in the vid anymore (specifically, that EX Oroshi, s.HK, safejump setup.). I also use tsurugi to hit comfirm into ultra 1 nowadays, and finally learned how to get max damage from Ultra 2 nearly 100% of the time. I hope when I play online, I could rely on my execution to pull all this off.
Anyways, thanks! Next ranked battles, will try recording some of my matches myself. Hopefully, less shotos this time. I got sick of 'em last Friday, facing six straight, then three grapplers straight. So much for variety. Lol.
P.S. i know it’s a lousy habit, but I still do random desperation Ultras when I have nothing to lose. It nets me more wins than losses, shockingly.
i noticed shiro made little use of cr mk in the rufus fight. also, is that like the best punish for ex messiah, j back hp???
also, in the dictator matches he rarely uses st HK, and why not ultra 2?
why doesn’t he go for ex tsurigi in the corner after fuki? meaty setup?
