Makoto Video Thread/Match Critiques

=( he has 3rd Strike habits still.

for those who didnt see Sako vs Haitani:
part 1: http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm16188163
part 2:http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm16188585
part 3: http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm16189104

I play really basic too, but I lack that japanese defense :frowning:

How do I watch the Haitani vids? I don’t know which link to click.

Do you have nico account? You will need one to watch. I do however remember that there is some site that you can paste nico links in and you can watch without an account. I recently purchased premium membership at nico!

I am however currently uploading the set in one youtube video with all waiting times edited out. You can wait for that if you like.

ETA = about an hour and a half. Will update post when ready.

Up now -

I also wonder why Haitani did not use his gamertag of wa75842 for these matches. At first I thought he changed names but this is probably a friends tag.

Saw haitani use some a awesome
post ultra 1 safe jump set up
double dash st mp neutral jump mk it’s around like 2 mins mark
going to lab it out

Sako’s wins looked much more convincing with hataini relying more on ultra 1. Plus sako made several come backs. Why did haitani keep getting hit by that corner cross up? Is it unblockable? And why did haitani almost never follow up the ex hayate in the corner with a fukiage?

I believe Ibuki can do the standard j.LK fake cross-up or j.MK cross-up, it’s a 50-50. About the EX Hayate, I have no clue - at first I thought it was lag or something. He really wants that EX Hayate safe jump, I guess, even if it means sacrificing roughly 80 damage from a scaled Fukiage and possibly more from EX Tsurugi. I don’t really see the sense in that decision, but I’m not one of the best Makotos in the world.

yes, u1 -> dash*2 -> stMP -> jump is safe jump.

in corner, EX hayate -> directly jump attack is safe jump. That’s why Haitani did that.

the strange thing is that he waited a bit before jumping, screwing his safe jump.
He also missed A LOT of combo at the beginning of the FT10.

Yeah, haitani miss his links many times . he also missed a few tsurugis and got j.MK instead. He got punished HARD for those mistakes.

I watched that set , it was very good ! I’ve been playing mw3 , ill be back on SSF4 soon though :stuck_out_tongue:

I think if you EX Hayate, hold up for a safe jump, and the opponent quick rises on the first frame possible, then j.MK/j.HK will whiff. I noticed it when testing safe jumps on Guy. Could be wrong/bad memory, of course.

Guys I’m getting murdered out there, I really need your help, I’m totally crap, every time I get beaten I want to go back to Rose to get some revenge but I need to stick with Makoto if I’m going to use her.

Im just hopeless atm.

Okay…first, you need to go to the first page of the Q&A thread and start reading. Next, look through the videos on this thread and try and copy what they do.

Things to look for when watching vids:
-Movement. It’s obvious you don’t know how to move with Mak. That’s fine, since no previous character experience is transferable. Pay attention to when your fellow Mak players dash, when they don’t, when they use one of her forward moving normals, or when they use Tsurugi to jump over projectiles. Most importantly, STOP JUMPING HAPHAZARDLY. Not knowing how to get around the ring is most likely the reason you’re going to lose a lot in the beginning. It takes some getting used to since her walk speed is terrible.

-Study her normals and lay off her specials for now. If you don’t understand how to use her normals, you’re not going to be very successful with Mak. There were a couple of times during the match you were trying to use Hayate like a fireball and Fuki like an SRK. Don’t do that. Hayate is extremely unsafe on block and a missed fuki is a guaranteed 30% loss of life at the minimum.

I would give more tips, but you need to start at the very beginning. After you’ve got those down a bit, then come back and ask more questions.

Thanks for that, ill follow your advice.

I did a FT3 2on2 yesterday evening (me + fuma (swiss players) vs renegad+gagapa (french players). Won 3-0 (but opponent wanted to continue. We won 5-3 at the end).
We had fun at the end, because we all started to counter-counter-counter picking. The BONUS part was just too much. hahahahaha

Here are my parts:

I made sure to have the guile theme going during that round.

Hey vryu, is that a double meaty setup you keep doing after your neutral jumps HK Tsurugi?

NJ HK Tsurugi, dash, meaty c.LK (in case quick stand), dash x2, meaty s.LP combo??

Anything else new you’ve discovered that you havent’ shared? :stuck_out_tongue:

EDIT - loving your use of sweep, empty forward jump, c.lk>Karakusa.

here is another vid, i think i am making progress (even if slight), i still need to stop jumping but atm im not playing to win, im just trying to get used to makoto so im just trying things out and practising to jump over fireballs and doing a Tsurugi.

my latent abilities started to seep out at 00:47 and lasted a few seconds and ended with me trying to do an Oroshi but accidentally doing the wrong motion resulting in a Fukiage. :arazz:

once im able to do normals comfortably ill start watching the other videos and trying to play like that.

jumping over a fireball with tsurugi wont hit the opponent unless you do it instant , also this is definitely how you shouldnt play makoto , I can see you have small experience with the game , better hit that lab

your amazing.
