wow is that like … middleschool ? o.o I’d be pretty sad if I lose to a middleschooler … just feels embarassing … I’ve lost against girls though haha , I know pretty good ones (what’s with girls playing chun li ? They ALL play chun li !)
Haha that was also my first video that I seen of V-Ryu
the 1st vid i saw of vryu was him vs daigo.
makoto needs flashmetroid again i hope he drops geif.
Yeah I used to watch and emulate FM A LOT… But Gief is a much safer choIce especially with viper backup. All matchups are covered and it’s down to execution which he normally doesn’t have a problem with. To 8 @ EVO so I doubt he’ll be dropping Gief anytime soon but I agree; I wish he still played her like he used to, especially since she’s even better now…
Okay I got some good news (I guess) I tried streaming and succeeded , quality is good , but it lags A LOT :[ I dont know where’s the problem , a friend told me that it had something to do with bit rate, but I have no idea what that is , if anyone can help I’ll be very very thankful !!
If there is a way to set the update rate to zero try and find it.
No, I think I found the problem , turns out its more complicated to stream with hauppauge hd pvr
i have some matches i need critiques on these are matches i’ve loss and i want some advice so please help.

My advice is to watch how better Makoto players play and try to copy them , its too early to critisize anything at this point , after getting used to playing the character learn all her safe jumps and setups , not just the unblockable tsurugis , without knowledge of the character you cant use them
Things you need to do more, starting now: anti-air. In those videos, you were absolutely free to jump-in on. c.MK will cover most cases, s.MP in others, and, once you get the timing down, fukiage. Also, jump back fierce is godlike-- use it. Second thing: learn to punish properly. In that Adon video, i saw him just throwing out reversals and you didnt do much to make him pay. Go to the AE Makoto Guide for her bnbs and punishes.for your purposes, if you block a reversal, s.HP -> hayate or ex oroshi is good. Third thing: learn to use tsurugi. There wasn’t one instance of you doing that in any of those videos. Fourth: learn safejumps.
Things you need to do less of: spamming c.MP OS hayate. It’s a good tool during footsies, but the range you were doing it from was unsafe. Just outside of your opponents farthest poke is ideal. Plus, when you actually did hit opponents with c.MP, the hayate didn’t come out many times. And the fact that you kept throwing that poke out made you less likely to anti-air. So in your case, when in midrange, use c.MP less and look instead to punish any jump-ins.
I also noticed that when you were getting pressured, you were spamming the c.LK OS throw tech, even in ranges your opponent wasnt in your face. Block more, backslash when it’s safe, and jump back fierce to hit any crossups.
Another bad habit I see: when you are actually in close range and you’re applying pressure, you were just throwing out normals hoping that one would connect. Lots of c.LP, f.MP, s.MP, sweeps and non-ex oroshis too. You would keep throwing them out until you got a knockdowOfn. Your opponents noticed that you didn’t really have an offensive game plan, so they just reversaled and was successful most of the time.
So here’s a better alternative: when in range, test the waters with s.LP, s.MP. Just that. If it hits, end with hayate or ex oroshi. If it doesn’t, see how your opponent reacts. Are they mashing reversal? Are the standing or crouching? Are they jumping back? Are they back dashing? Remember what happens, then test the waters again when the opportunity arises. When you read your opponent, you’ll be able to punish his defensive options.
Things to stop completely (for now, anyway): no wake up ex-karakusas. None whatsoever. Learn to withstand offensive pressure withiut having to resort to unsafe reversals. Block, late-tech, and backdash when safe. Also, save the advanced stuff (meaty setups, crossup tsurugi setups) for when you get more experience. As zakbg says, you can’t use all the cool makoto technology until you master the basics.
Tl;dr-- stop spamming, and keep it simple.
see thing about that is that when i play online i tend do it alot cause alot of ppl are grab happy when they’re throwing pressure so idk how to deal with it other then that…everything u said is spot on. thanks
Learn to tech on reaction and to a lesser degree, on prediction/read that shit. Much better than crouch teching. If you can tech on reaction and/or read it easily enough then you don’t run the risk of counter hit set ups as much.
Greatings.
@jamal313.
First i’m not a pro or nothing like that. I however notice most of your c.MP xx Hayate were lp Hayate. You can and should use MP hayate. It has more range and better advantage frames (1 i think instead of 0 frame advantege from the lp) .
Also, some better AA. I’m using c.MK, its very very good it beats almost every jumping atack (exept maybe crossups, not sure). Finally on the Addon match, a standing MP will punish Addon “jumping on the wall and flying towards you” attack. Its easy to react to it (unless he does the EX one, that requires a bit faster reaction time)
Hum try to input the fukiage motion everytime your on the ground, but dont actually hit the lp button unless you see him jumping, that way you’re prepared if he actually jumps. On the Akuma match, the only time you did it was the time his jump didnt reach you, and you got punished. Just before that you had 2 opportunitys to do it, and hit him ( he was crossing over you).
So after all this i got a small little question, more directed to Vryu, but i guess anyone better then me can anwser.
I notice on some Vryu movies, when the opponent is stuned/dazed and almost dead, he does a s.MK xx Hp Fukiage. How do you do that? When I try it i only get the mk out wich “kills” him, and the fukiage input isn’t registred
GG Mossad bodied my ibuki/makoto again GGs
Just a quick question tho to anyone who can answer
Ex orochi, f.Mp, f.Hk, Hk.Tsurugi isn’t an unblockable set-up right?
GGs to V-Ryu, thanks for taking my Makoto in for a set.
I’m being very predictable aren’t I? :p. I find it very hard to change myself, like ending blockstrings in sweep even when you were focusing them and I was doing same blockstrings over and over. Just knew some setups from training mode, and lol at some moments when we were trying to punish each other’s ex hayate on block and it continued on. Mixing up my blockstrings is needed. I felt embarrased when I wasn’t blocking low lol. Keep having a mental thing to block high vs Makoto.
GGs anyway!
ggs!
yes, i noticed that you never block low with makoto. Strange :o
and you dont use your dash enough (back and forward)
Walking back makes you think you are out of range from karakusa , but once you get sweeped you can walk back anymore , just keep that though cause you can get sweeped AND caught in a karakusa afterwards
GGs mayne we should play more! I need that ibuki practice. Dont worry about the Makoto mirror… its a stupid matchup and i probably play 3 out of 4 makotos on SRK pretty often lol so i got mad practice in the mirror. I’m up for practice anytime man.
Pertaining to your question, no it is not unblockable… on most opponents. You’d have to check the OAR setups… I’m at work now. . But it can be made to cross up. I use it pretty often. I’ve been mildly successful using the XU Tsurugis (XUTs?) on people who stand, but wildly successful against people who backdash or DP on wakup. Its amazing how well it works. for your setup, i’d suggest MK Tsurugi… because if it hits you can tack on great damage afterwards and/or and untechable KD. They can quickrise after HK Tsurugi, so you lose a little bit of pressure. But it does cross up on many characters and 150 damage is GREAT…

Fergus, yeah sorry I had to reupload it. YouTube bug where it stays on 0% processing and none of my subscribers can see it.
