rfc tekei. we can get a much higher reward for whiff punishing than most anything he can get. mp confirmed into hayate? rfc bnb. in range for st.hk to beat cr.mk? rfc bnb into huge stun. sure you might say “oh but she needs 3 bars” but honestly when is meter a problem for makoto. the thought process is a lot like how daigo figures akuma isn’t a good character/the way he beat infiltration. just play a neutral game trying not to overextend yourself until you have the proper resources than strike when the opportunity presents itself. just the fact that she can rfc off of pretty much every confirmed normal into big stun/damage makes it a lot more in her favor than it was.

Yeah, you have a good point about RFC. The potential damage/stun from just about any poke is quite insane and it can definitely shift the momentum in your favour.
just one thing tough, do you guys actually find yourselves with that much meter to go into RFC? Most of the times i confirm any hit i land into ex Fuki j.hp mixup and into 2nd mixup into ex hayate to put them in the corner or another ex fuki into stun mixup. Is it really that much of a factor?
It is because rfc is a more concrete way to get stun and damage. If a player reads your mixup correctly then you can be punished or they can get away from pressure. Also it’s difficult to poke with ex fuki because if I want to bait you all I have to do is walk into your poke range and block, your fuki will come out and it’ll get punished hard. Meter is a lot more important in this game. Those who build meter fast and can cancel into red focus will be top tier as the game progresses. It’s one of the reasons Yun is so good.
certain match ups yes. shotos for the most part i find playing safer the better option. it also throws them off cause they expect us to get burst damage from mix ups and stuff. without giving them the opportunity to srk/escape our mix up at the same time playing a solid frontal assault game we… take from them evrything and give them nothing…
I’ve found that I don’t have much meter for RFC. I usually go for ex hayate/ ex tsurugi in the corners and rely a little hard on ex punishes. Are you guys just doing plain hayates for punishes and hoarding meter?
it depends on the match up and type of player though! some people are just very defensive and you might find yourself sitting on a full stick of butter from full screen away. in that case, one mistake can mean death to any opponent! for me, rfc, ultra 2, mixup, stun -> death!
to be honest, makoto builds meter so fast, I’m almost always sitting on 2-3 bars of meter so rfc is always a possibility. FFS, tsurigis over projectiles, full screen lp oroshi wiff, and just any attack into mix up builds crazy meter.
In the first round almost every time I do a punish combo I do a meter build combo until I have 2 1/2 bars. It makes the second round that much easier. If you can’t do FFS, do double strong or Fierce feint cr.lk hayate it does 1 less damage point than fierce into fierce hayate. Plus I’m always whiffing lp fuki of oroshi.
Probably should stop being so nervous about dropping FFS online. Sounds like it might be worthwhile to use for the extra meter alone.
Yea usually when I do those combos I don’t pressure afterwards, I use that opportunity to gain info on how my opponents reacts to my spacing.

I’m sure Misse is still using her. He’s our best shot at having a Makoto going far.

I hope so. Makoto’s been seriously under represented in Ultra. Since the update Yogaflame hasn’t uploaded a single match with Makoto in it, winning or losing.
I just don’t get that excited for other characters anymore

Yeah it’s kinda sad she might end up even less represented than in AE2012.
Does BIGDANMUL still play Makoto? He’s apparently in D62, although I’m not seeing him in the brackets.
