Makoto Ultra SFIV

can you link f.lp into c.lk or you have to go directly into hayate cancel?

You can link fLP after crLK, not the reverse.

The issue with those ( fMP into fLP and crLK into fLP is that they’re 1 frame link, unplinkable, and force you to cancel into a -19 move on block.
It’s freaking suicide to do those most of the time.

Regular, not counter hit, it’s pretty easy to confirm since f.MP has a decent pint of hit stun, and surprisingly not that hard to link consistently.

You can’t. But you can link f.lp into itself. 1f, non plinkable.

Shiro switched back to Abel D:

ehhh, never really liked his makoto much anyway! I’d be way more disappointed if I found out haitani switched to rufus or something.

I feel like a total dummy for asking but how do you do the DWU? I can’t seem to get it to work properly. And what do you normally do after activating it? Just sit and block, content that you’ve ruined their potential set up?

Also the input for red focus sucks. That shit needs patching. Such an unnatural hand position…

DWU: Mash at least 2 buttons before you hit the ground. Sounds scrubby, but this is the way.

Red Focus: After a successful Hayate I just press lp+lk+mk+mp at the same time with all my hand. Like that I can press 3 buttons for sure and is pretty easy. Just slap those sanwas.

After DWU keep blocking works fine for me, people are now to afraid about keep pressure, especially if I have meter. Some players still play like DWU don’t exist and they go for old AE2012 setups… And they get a free grab.

Just treat RF like activating X Factor.

Makoto is a straight up beast the more I experiment with her, the shoto matchup is no longer 5-5 she dominates way too hard now. Sorry for the poor quality I’m not able to upload through the game, too little space on hdd and I don’t have capture equipment :frowning:

Impressive match. Almost every mix up worked there, that’s always a good feeling.

How did you get the second Fuki after the stHP HC stMP ex fuki ? Just a kara HP Fuki ?

It was dash into lp fuki, still testing but it only works on certain characters, all shotos though

Shoto match up was always in Makoto’s favour (except REALLY good akuma players).

Just saiyan.

Maybe the ryu matchup, but Ken and Akuma used to have a slight advantage which had now totally shifted in her favor

I’d say Makoto vs Ryu was one of the most even matchups in AE, and I don’t think Ken is in our favour in Ultra. We’re still extremely weak to throws and Ken has some great tools with his improved walk speed, kara throw, annoying overheads etc. What makes you think the shoto matchup is so different in Ultra? Is it because of the SRK FADC disadvantage?

Either way, that was a nice game, Ace!

I always had more issue against Ryu than Ken for some reason.
stMK is so good as a footsie tool against Ken, helps a lot. Beats all the step kicks.

s.MP works very well against the stepkicks as well, but with Ken’s buffed c.MK and decent sweep it’s quite risky to rely on those pokes too much.
In AE I also felt the Ryu matchup to be more difficult than Ken, but in Ultra I feel that Ken has become more of a threat while Ryu is more or less the same. A bit easier even, since U2 is more useful now thanks to RF. I still consider both matchups as even though which is why I’m curioius about what it is that makes Ace2aKing think that the shoto matchups are no longer even.

Thanks man. It’s shifted in Maks favor because now she is more dangerous from footsie range than the shotos. Mak never really had a problem dealing with Ryu’s fireball game, but what evened the match out is that he could poke with cr. mk to control space and make it more difficult to get in. Now with the inclusion of red focus and improved damage across the board for her it’s more risky for Ryu to poke because he can be whiff punished for big damage. With the nerf to srk fadc, it has become way too risky to srk out of pressure. It’s now one wrong guess and that’s pretty much game. He used to get more reward for those risk. Same with akuma with his nerfs and low stun it is harder for him to defend against her. Dwu hurt auto pilot safe jumps and vortex so now it’s harder for him to capitalize on knockdown, visa vie, more risk. In AE makoto was really only scary with ultra or if she had you in the corner. Now that she’s a threat from mid screen with just one bar what can they do to defend themselves? Not much. Lol

How is Makoto more dangerous in the footsie range now? I don’t feel that EX Fuki makes that much of a difference footsie wise, and Ryu still has ex fireball FADC ultra etc midscreen. I don’t think the footsie game has changed much since AE but I might be missing something here. The biggest issue I have with Ryu though is his frame traps but I think that’s more of a personal issue than a problem with Makoto.
